I can't decide which one to buy. AT2020 is way more affordable here in Brazil (at4040 costs 4x more!), but AT4040 sounds great! I don't know if it worths 4x more than the AT2020 though.
My advice, start off with the AT2020. Get yourself a good interface and treat the area that you are recording in. Reduce the reflective surfaces and maker it acoustically sound. Then you will have to do some work on that back end but you can do a lot with EQ and some other stuff. I would also consider the 2035. I did a comparison with all three and at2020 vs at2035. For just a little bit more you get a big upgrade. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@wanmeireles7182 brings a shock mount also , so thats about 20 bucks worth right there. So really what u pay is 30 bucks more for the upgrade to the big capsule. 2035 seems to buy the best bang for buck right now at 130 bucks on amazon. Im about to pull the trigger on it myself. Im binge watching review videos
I just checked out the manual. It offers up to 58db of gain for the xlr pre amp, which is plenty for the AT4040. That's usually the major thing when it comes to choosing a mixer/interface for your microphone. The other thing is the quality of the Preamp. This could mean noise and signal integrity. That I cant speak for, but you can check out some videos on that and see what people say about it. From my point of view it seems good for the mic. Out of curiosity what are you making/recording? Also do you have the AT4040 or the Audiet id14 mk2? I just want to see if I can help out some more with your gear choices.
I definitely need to treat my bedroom for my AT-2020. this is EXACTLY what I was looking for...! Now I need to find out a way to treat this horribly dank room... Hmmmm At least I have help. Thanks! =) Good review ... helped me alot =)
There are a lot of cheap ways to “treat” a room. I have a video about my sound booth that can be applied to other applications. I plan on doing a follow up on room treatment. Thanks for checking out the video! I’m glad it was helpful!
@@RebelTech1990 Good! Make a followup on room treatment! I'm currentily looking for a video that tells the basics of room treatment... Like, what, wut i'm supposed to do, lowll. I don't even know where to place the stuff If I was up to... If you pay close attention, your review was awesome. I could clear see the difference between treated and untreated rooms in your video, for a Condenser microphone, and the difference between AT2020 and AT 4040. When everybody just came in and said "Oooooh but AT-2020 iS a good MICROPHONE and this MIcOprOHNE is actually so CHEAP and good at the same time that likE---- WHY would i buy a NEW ONE?? HAHAHAHAH" So I just came here with the solid belief that "Meh, I don't care for 4040. 2020 is already good, too good (everybody said) the audio quality between the two are pretty similar, why would I want an "upgrade" on it? Does it even upgrade after all? It's so similar, Pfffft!" And I was like this when I just saw you speaking sh*t out of the microphone and saying "Holy holy holy holy, _Microphone, *Why you are so good?*_" and whemn I saw you like GLORYIFIYNG that microphone i was luke WUTF this dude is crazy!!! Then.... Well, lol I just said ok maytbe thbis guy means something (after a lot of effort watching the video) and I found that out... Cool,. Isn't it? Thanks for changing my view... I think AT 4040 is truly better than 2020 (mayybey, but i`m not exprt on microphones...) So, maybe you could make a video on that too? Explaining why you LOVE at 4040 instead of 2020? That could be a drastically vastily different video that could attract a lot of attention in the Microphone community, well, given your competitors don`t see it first and Podcastage doesn`t go on rage "Greetings jerk-lings, today we are gonna test Microphone AT 4040 and microphone AT 2020. Which is better at the expense of the Rebel Communications AF? Well, let's test and make a review!!! I mean if they do that, if they did that... If they already did that, lol... Then, like..., Yeah Idk If u have much hope cuz that thing that guy is a munster :L SORRY XD
Between those two it’s easy. AT2020, without hesitation. I used a 990 a long time ago and I wasn’t a fan of it. Very airy and a lot of top end. The AT2020 will last you a long time and is very flexible when using EQ and other plug ins. Thanks for checking out the video! Let me know if you have any more questions.
Holy blessed light, I knew I should pay attention to your phone preference - AT4040 is indeed better than I expected...? Damn now I want the premium end microphone... It took long for me to spot the difference, it's actually insane, not that easy or normal as I expected... Damn... Holy sith man, nice microphone you got there. I like it...
The 4040 is a great mic. I actually just put out my comparison between the 4040 and the sm7b. It was a lot of fun and tough to choose a winner. Keep an eye out for sales, maybe the 4040 will drop in price for the holidays
@@RebelTech1990 HOHHOHOHO! Good tips man good tips Except I doubt it will everr drop in price cuz I actually found only one microphone of that in São Paulo here in brazil xD Dud finding this mic is hard... Premium-end mics are not for sale in a country that has been left by Capitalism :L
Hearing both in an untreated room gives a great understanding of what to expect. Very helpful, thorough comparison! Thanks!

This was what I was looking for thank you.
