  • How I Met Your Mother PREDICTED Cobra Kai.. Here's How
Welcome back to Show Spot, today on the channel we are going to reveal That Time How I Met Your Mother Foretold Cobra Kai +other related news. In hindsight, Netflix’s (formerly RUclips’s) Cobra Kai was too great an idea to not happen. Taking a beloved ‘80s movie property, The Karate Kid, and reimagining for a new generation focused on the villainous Cobra Kai dojo from the film series? That’s gold! Or at least, we know that’s gold now, having been able to see it through four, soon-to-be-five, wonderful seasons of karate action.
Prior to Cobra Kai premiering in 2018, however, very few people had the vision that Karate Kid’s ostensible villain Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) would make for a compelling antihero more than 30 years later. A handful of people who did have that vision were Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, who convinced Zabka and Sony Pictures Television to give a series based on the “bad guys” a try. But there was another surprising source out there in pop culture who knew the idea would work: the sitcom How I Met Your Mother. How I Met Your Mother ran for nine mostly well-received seasons (and one apocalyptically poorly-received finale) on CBS. As many of you undoubtedly know, the show’s conceit is all right there in the title. In the distant future of 2030, Ted Mosby (voiced by Bob Saget, R.I.P.) gathers his kids together to tell them the sprawling story of how he met their mother. Over the span of more than 200 episodes, it becomes quite clear that Ted’s story is really about being young and having the time of your life with your friends in New York City more than anything. As such, the series is filled with pop cultural references that 20 and 30-something college-educated NYC nerds might enjoy. Not to mention that both Barney and Johnny make almost the exact reference to the "illegal" head kick (that won Danial the All Valley Tournament) pretty much line for line.

Because of HIMYM that is how Cobra Kai became a thing

I can totally see how that went. They probably made the cameos and then went to a how I met your mother party where they got approached by a higher up about reviving karate kid.
Throw alcohol in the mix and they got a show

No it isn’t, there is a RUclips video from like 15 years ago called “Daniel was the REAL bully in the karate kid” that’s what influenced the shoe, it has million and millions of views

@@marsicogodofwar9280 And even before that video, the showmakers were already thinking about doing the show. But they were having trouble convincing the studios, that the Karate Kid franchise could still gather an audience. Then the YT video came out, which made the "Daniel was the actual bully" theory popular, as well as making people more open to the idea, that Johnny wasn't an all-bad guy. Then, a couple of years later, came the HIMYM running gag with Zabka. The gag never inspired the plot or premise of the show. However, since the gag was one of the shows most popular ones, it did help in proving to the studios, that the Karate Kid franchise still had a large potential fan-base, and that Zabka (as well as Macchio) still had their acting chops, and were still interested in playing the role. This ended up convincing the brand new RUclips Red Studios of picking up the show, as one of their first original in-house TV drama productions. It's also their most successful show and the only RUclips Original TV Show, to have been picked up by another major studio, after RUclips Red/Originals shut down. And very successfully at that.
A lot of people seem to forget, that Cobra Kai was originally produced by RUclips themselves, on a significantly smaller budget. (Though one of the larger budgets given by Google for a YT Original TV series) Despite this season 1 and 2 still holds up in production quality, if you ask me. Still looks great tbh.

I was a big HIMYM fan back in the day. I was always amused how in various episodes Neil Patrick Harris (Barney Stinson) always rooted for Johnny Lawrence, saying that he was the real karate kid. Then years after this sitcom ended and Cobra Kai started, I was so stoked! It was refreshing seeing "The Karate Kid" story from a different perspective. I can't wait until the next season.

Because it’s wrong, and way to late, cobra Kai was made because the creators watched the RUclips video “Daniel was the real bully in the karate kid”.

This how I met your mother is being the thing behind Cobra Kai is so over used by many. The writers have never mentioned it once. The writers of Cobra Kai pitched the show to Billy and Ralph and this had nothing to do with it. The writers had been thinking about a show for years.
