- GENUINE 1970 Alpina BMW 2002! Very Rare! Recently picked up this massive project! Very cool car! Yes its the real deal. One of two BMW 2002 Alpina's ordered by T&T Calgary back in 1970! Flairs are not original. This would have looked like a stock 2002 from the outside, except this machine had 150HP and was capable of 200km/h! Has 2002ti/tii brakes and booster. High compression pistons as well!
I love how the paperwork is so detailed , even describes the factory oil fill, nice to have with the car 👍
Been really enjoying your channel David. I had both a ‘74 02 & ‘68 1800. Drove the 02 all over the country. Bought it in ‘76…..sold it in ‘89….but knew I’d get another one day. Thanks!Best car I’ve owned…and I’ve owned a lot (‘59 Mercedes 219 w/ 3 on the tree, ‘71 Mercedes. 280 SE 3.5 V8 coupe, MGBGT, Jensen Healey, Morris Minor, etc etc. I have just purchased a ‘76 02 that needs some TLC. So, your channel is helpful in my “relearning the car.
Beautiful Bavarians from the 70s
Very rare + interesting car: well worth restoring! Good luck.

OO=[][]=OO very beautiful!!! BMW 2002 Turbo ,BMW 320I
Put on a original rounder nose and do a full restoration. Will be well worth it! Awesome car
Yeah, this car deserves a full restoration! Props on spotting the incorrect nose!
perhaps vin? Is 1st gear to the left and back dog leg shift pattern Close ratio 5 speed, red steering quick ratio box???? I would get a different 1970 body and transplant the guts. be sure to check the differential ratio and see if limited slip comparing to paperwork. The flares ans black stripe were indicators of Alpina. Those brake vent plates and vented rotors were also indicative as well as the blacked out coins in the dials of the instrument cluster.
Has great potential. What's the VIN? is it possibly 166xxxx or 167xxxx?
I'm pointing that out because it appears to have rear side markers and reflectors on the rear panel. These are indications the car was slated for delivery to the USA but took a side-trip to Buchloe and Alpina before shipment.
If there are dates on the Alpina paperwork, you can retrace the trip back to the factory production date.
Before you delete those fender flares, check to see if they weren't part of the the work performed at Alpina. Early 1970-ish flares were somewhat crude, but effective to gain wheel/tire clearance.
167xxxx Built June 1970! Flares were added on in the eighties unfortunately!
nice car, but not a 1970's early 1971, and not alpina from 70 there are many things that are not timely correct dashboard steering wheel seats send the wine numbber and i can tell you what it is
What makes you say it’s a 71? The steering wheel and seats were added in the 80’s. This car was only ordered with Alpina motor upgrades and suspension upgrades.
@@davidsgarage It is because they are only in 71 they start putting colistion wings on and not in 70
and if it is alpine that has modified this engine then they have written it on the block with an alpine engine number, they started it already in 1960, i know few people in germany who have the original alpine engine as well as gs tuning I myself was a happy owner of an alpine though not a 02 but a B7's turbo number 49, I sold my alpine to the Alpina factory, In connection with the sale, they told me how to see if it is an alpine modification, 👍
@@MrKristerhallin I have came across what I think is a 1970 bmw 2002 alpina. Would you be able to confirm?
Can you send me pics from the Alpina role cage ?
Would you consider selling the seats? I just bought a nice but derelict one owner '73 Bavaria that I'd like to put some Scheels in. They feel great.
They are great seats! I am going to keep them for now.
David's Garage - As I'm sure you know, they're worth big bucks nowadays.
Hey share the wealth Dave
I also own an Alpina 02 - contact me if you'd like to compare notes.
