It's crazy how Daft Punk is perfectly capable of taking, say, a single sentence or a few blocks of word and a few layers of sound and wrapping them into an awesome song.
I skipped it at the time as I had all the albums and funds for vinyl & clubbing were sparse, plus I had the Scott Grooves - Mothership Reconnection & Ian Pooley - Chord Memory remixes on mix cds but I didn't know this one and for that reason - and nostalgias sake, a couple of decades down the line - it has just been added to my wish list.
That song was released during the pre-Homework era, most of their songs back then were pretty unknown outside of nightclubs, with the exception of the single Da Funk/Musique which was their first commercial success prior to the release of Homework. This song first appeared on the single “Forget About the World” by Gabrielle, it was later rereleased on Musique Vol. 1 but the song itself on the album is a bit shorter due to time constraints.
Jaysis, all that clattering around in the middle section used to kill dancefloors stone dead (and not in a good way). I think they used this remix to explore some of their more far-out and abstract ideas, that they'd come back to in the Alive 1997 live show. Homework was aimed at commercial success, with just the right amount of experimentation, all the ingredients were carefully balanced. Here the lads could let loose without compromising that balance.
@@Floralgamingdisplay only once I saw a DJ be able to hold a crowd with it, Justin Robertson, but he mixed it out almost immediately the weird part started

The CD came out in 2006, and is a compilation of Daft Punk's singles that were originally released between 1993 and 2005. You could still go into a store and purchase it. For you to be right, that would mean the CD was available for sale in 1993, before most of the songs on it were even recorded. Kind of impossible. You may want to start thinking these things through, kid.

@lilsharkhunter if you listen to it, as a producer, its a full sample acompanied by a few half-cut distorted/pitch shifted versions etc etc, this is pretty simple to recreate if you were interested in following that style. And yes, they do it great :)
@@psychedelicpiper999 it would never be accepted by a commissioning A&R department now, they'd be told to go back and add more of the original. it used to be the same with Kraftwerk in Germany back in the late 80s, early 90s, all their albums including the more rare earlier ones, and lots of the 12"s in German and other European languages were freely and cheaply available.
