I could have danced all night! And still have begged for more. I could have spread my wings And done a thousand things I've never done before. I'll never know What made it so exciting. Why all at once my heart took flight. I only know when he Began to dance with me. I could have danced, danced danced all night!
Bed! Bed! I couldn't go to bed! My head's too light to try to set it down! Sleep! Sleep! I couldn't sleep tonight. Not for all the jewels in the crown! I could have danced all night! I could have danced all night! And still have begged for more. I could have spread my wings And done a thousand things I've never done before. I'll never know What made it so exciting; Why all at once My heart took flight. I only know when he Began to dance with me I could have danced, danced, danced all night! Servant 1 It's after three now. Servant 2 Don't you agree now, She ought to be in bed. Eliza I could have danced all night! I could have danced all night! And still have begged for more. I could have spread my wings And done a thousand things I've never done before. I'll never know What made it so exciting. Why all at once my heart took flight. I only know when he Began to dance with me. I could have danced, danced danced all night! Mrs. Pearce I understand, dear. It's all been grand, dear. But now it's time to sleep. Eliza I could have danced all night, I could have danced all night. And still have begged for more. I could have spread my wings, And done a thousand things I've never done before. I could eat soup all night I could eat soup all night And still have room for more I do not trust those boys Who took away my joys The way I did before I'll never know What makes it so delicious How Mom always Makes it just right I only know when she Said "Kaspar, please trust me" I could eat soup, soup, soup all night Karl: It's after three, now Don't you agree, now He ought to be in bed Kaspar: I could eat soup (Karl: Our little son) all night, (Karl: First would not eat) I could eat soup (Karl: And now it seems) all night (Karl: He will not sleep) And still (Klaudia: Don't give him sorrow) have room for (Klaudia: Because tomorrow) more (Klaudia: We'll give him all the soup he wants to eat) I do not trust (Karl: Oh, Kaspar, dear) those boys (Karl: Oh, Kaspar, son) Who took away (Karl: Tomorrow you) my joys (Karl: Will have such fun) The way (Klaudia: Jump into bed, Kas) I did be (Klaudia: Please come to bed, Kas) fore (Klaudia: For the day is done) I'll never know what makes it so delicious How Mom always Makes it just right I only know (Klaudia: It's time for you) when she (Klaudia: To take a rest) said "Kaspar, please" (Karl: But tomorrow) "Trust me" (Klaudia: Will be the best) I could eat soup, soup, soup all night Klaudia: I understand, dear It tasted grand, dear But now it's time to sleep Kaspar: I could eat soup all night I could eat soup all night And still have room for more I do not trust those boys Who took away my joys The way I did before I'll never know What makes it so delicious How Mom always Makes it just right I only know when she Said "Kaspar, please trust me" I could eat soup, soup, soup all night (Just ask me if you want context.)
@@emryswalton1802 Granted, the poem in question is a rewrite of a public domain poem I never liked- Der Suppen-Kaspar from Heinrich Hoffmann's Der Struwwelpeter. The original poem begins as Kaspar, a chubby and healthy little boy, suddenly begins to refuse to eat anything (we are not told why). Over the next five days, he wastes away and dies, and the last illustration shown is of his grave. Now, I never liked that ending. So I rewrote the poem (ah, the beauty of public domain!) And in my rewrite, his mother steps in and helps him out of his fasting phase. He also reveals the sole reason he was starving himself is that he was teased for his size by his classmates. The book has plenty of other disturbing poems (such as one about a girl burning to death because she played with matches and another about a boy getting his thumbs cut off just because he sucked them), so I rewrote those too.
is this the correct tempo? i have an audition for the school musical tomorrow and the links posted on the website feel slow and so idk if the accompanist should be playing this speed or not,,,

I would benefit from some context, haha
