- This week Plant Lovers it's time to take a look at all my late winter - early spring flowering cymbidiums! I've been filming my species and hybrids as they've come out over the last months so we can refresh basic care , check up on some old favourites, look at spring tasks for these types of orchids and review some tricky hot/cool hybrids that I was QUITE worried about!
All my Cymbidium videos can be found in this playlist here: • CYMBIDIUM ORCHID CARE
The plants I mention in this video are:
Cymbidium Canned Magic 'Kobe'
Cymbidium wenshanense
Cymbidium Sarah Jean - not sure which one!
Cymbidium Black Stump 'Come In Spinner'
Cymbidium Vidar 'Harlequin'
All the others are no ID hybrids from flea markets, Facebook Marketplace or rescues.
Matthew, they are all so lovely. And your father-in-law is my hero, 95 and still traveling. My dream. 😍
He is! Thanks for watching!
Enjoyable video, thank you. Your lime green cymbidium with red throat is similar to my cascading Cymb. lowiana species. I bought the bulb at a church fete & had no clue what colour it was. Finally it’s flowered & identified as that species. Very thrilling!
How exciting! Thanks for watching!
Mathew, I was just googling the Australian Cymbidum and noticed it's actual called Canal-ic-ul-atum. Anyway despite all that, I'm green with envy of your wonderful collection of cymbidiums because my two plants are not doing their best at blooming this season. I'll blame our weather for that!
Hello plant lover, no hyphens necessary. Latin based.
Thanks for watching!
Gorgeous collection. You had me snorting tea out my nose. Shallow grave... And Yeah John! Happy Birthday! What a delightful man. He is one of my favourite people to see on your channel. What a charmer. 🥰
Thanks for watching!
beautiful collection, thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Such a beautiful cimbidioum collection ❤❤❤thank you for sharing 😊
Thanks for watching!
Oh Matthew, ending up in a shallow grave. What we do for plants. Entertaining video thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Deploy your collection to another orchid lover.
I’m in love with your Cymbidium’s ❤
Thanks for watching!
Hi watching all the way from Salem Oregon in the United States. I’m always feeling so inspired and motivated after watching your videos but today specially feeling brave after seeing that beautiful orchid canned magic Kobe! Could you guide me on where to get one to add to my collection? 😍😭 pretty please I beg!
No idea I'm afraid. Australian growers can't ship out of the country so you'll need to find a Cymbidium specialist in the States. Good Luck!
@@helloplantlovers thank you! I started the search ☺️
Morning Matthew, I realised flowers last longer if they are blooming from my place instead of bought from market 😔
So true! Thanks for watching!
Perfect timing once again Matthew! Planning to repot the cymbidium seedlings this weekend 😂
Great! Thanks for watching!
Dare you to try a georengii!!!
I will if I should ever find one!
Thx. Is it important to repot everything we buy when we get home? Or leave it in its original medium?
Depends! If it's the right season and it needs it - go for it. If not, wait until it needs a re-pot. Some plants will come in brilliant condition and be happy as they are...others may need resuscitating!
Hi Matthew. I have been watching a few of your previous videos and you mention charcoal quite a bit. I am wondering if you buy horticultural charcoal or do you prepare your own? If you prepare your own I would love to know how. Thanks
Thanks for watching! No, I buy horticultural charcoal from nurseries.
Are you wearing that sweater for a bet ?? 😅😅😅
I love that sweater! Looks good on you, Matthew.
