Men back then dressed like men always took care in how they looked in the evening they dressed as they are in the skit, these shows need to come back on tv , they are what we need in our world.
They had to keep it clean (with much innueneo) because of the TV censors. It was a different era - I grew up and didnt know cuss words except for damn and hell.
Look closely at Barbara Eden's costume in the early years of IDream of Jeannie...the censors made certain her belly button did not show. Hah the good ol' days. Check out the episode of Andy Griffith show that Barbara Eden guest starred in, it is still hilarious.
You should see him in dramatic roles. A Face In The Crowd (1957) for instance or the made-for-TV movie Murder in Coweta County (1983) where he plays a mean, evil bastard opposite Johnny Cash. His famous smile becomes something to fear.
Bunch of anti-family , anti-American B.S. promoted by corrupt communist PLANTED Democrat FOOLS, in cahoots with the Hollywood trash morons all to destroy the family unit and America !!!
You can’t tell me the past was worse than today. You can’t. I’d take the past any day, all day, every day. The quality of life in the 21st century sucks!
Still living by good old sorry to say ENGLISH/BRITISH rules of comedy ! No overt references to sex , religion , sports , or politics and no vulgarity (SWEAR WORDS) !
I love Deans little digs at ‘crazy Shirley’ (MacLaine), whom he often made fun of because of her belief in reincarnation; “she calls me every couple of weeks, but from places that don’t have an area code!” And when he talks about the humming bird “wearing out its zipper” I’m pretty sure that’s a reference to one of Deans favourite jokes about Frank; “when he retires, they’re gonna hang his zipper in the Hall of Fame!”
Funny in this skit, and most of them, dean always dropped his cigarette on the floor, then crushed it as you see in this skit @ 0:47. Poor deano couldn't perform without a cigarette in hand. But, he was such pure joy and the greatest in his field.
DEAN: "Can we have some facts of life music?" You take the good, you take the bad You take them both, and there you have The facts of life, the facts of life
Also note, they got away with making a joke that they would be shamed for making today - When they made reference to the lucky guy that "Gets to put the body make-up on the girls". If anyone said that today, they would immediately be met by social justice warriors, and screams of the "Objectification of wimin!!!". Why might there be metrosexual wimps today? The answer to that, and why these men were able to make that remark back then and why they would not be able to do so today, is telling as to how freely men are able to speak in a society.
Witty is needed to such pleasant and funny sketches. Nowadays as they don't have creativity nor imagination, they want to fill out the lack of it offering nasty language and vulgar sex comments.
Wanna know why they could make such great comedy without immense profanity? Because they could make actual jokes without being made to apologize for it. Today, people are forced to supplement with tons of profanity.
Justin Moerli You can see him throw it on the floor and put it out with his foot. He did that a lot, or sometimes he would do a comic bit where he would throw the cigarette and cover his ears like it would go off like a bomb/hand grenade! It’s always a wonder to me how the studio floor wasn’t covered with cigarette burns!
Linda Shelley hahaha nice! Yeah i remember the time he did that at the spectacular frank sinatra show. Here's a cover i did of return to me. Enjoy ruclips.net/video/U_DMHIJMobc/видео.html
Could you imagine if this sketch was done today?? The damn democrats would be going crazy. Not one swear word and not anything offensive being said but they sure as shit would find a hundred things to bitch about. But it's OK for SNL to get away with the garbage they say. We live in a really messed up world today. God bless us all!
The birds and the bees and the butterflies. Swap your wife for a pickup truck - Traded in your wife for a brand new Buick Electra, now that's what I call a deal. LOL ! Good Humor Ice-cream never sound so funny !!!
Dean: "One night I looked in the window of the hairdressing parlor and I saw Mr. Bruce was wearing a dress." Andy: "That's an another category." I know it's not politically correct, but it was cute and funny.
Good Stuff it reminds me of Lucey and Charlton Brown . Her Holding the Footbal and pulling it away. Him landing on his back feeling Defeated. It was training for boys for I'm in the mood no too late now I'm not. . Go away. That's just nature. I had a woman Freind ask me how come men always are in the mood. I said because Women are not. We have to be ready or we wouldn't have any new babies . The problem is Men just need to leave woman alone until it's the proper time or go away . My mother and sister's taught me when my girlfriend needs her space don't question it just come back later.
AG's life was touched. He had extraordinary talent, God given talent. He acted, he taught, he entertained and he sang. Andy published many gospel albums. "Gospel" means 'The good News'. Specifically, it means the good news of Jesus Christ. This isn't his best work. Oddly, he showed his liberalism proudly with age. He took action to proactively endorse two NC governors- Easley and Purdue. Both were liberal Democrats who suffered indictments and legal folly because of their conduct. Did the Lord, that Andy hailed, give veiled monologues to the masses about butterfly men wearing dresses? How about sexual favors for ice cream treats? It's a cautionary tale. "You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God." James 4:4
I heard he was not liberal. First he would not do a play with Lena Horne because she was Black. Second his costar on Matlock was called the n word because he was late to the set so how is a liberal. John Wayne definitely was a racist and said so.
Ron DeSantis is gonna have a hard time cancelling Andy Griffin for explaining non-hetero lifestyles (and wifeswapping!) to his young impressionable son, Dean Martin.
Yeah, I’m with you. Not to mention the zipper joke. But this was a time when the trendy thing was to push the envelope. Entertainers wanted to show they were with the times, hip, and not too square. I like wholesome Andy better.
They drank on stage too, don't be shocked. It didn't warp us too bad. Check out Dean, George Goebel and Bob Newhart on Johnny Carson comedy classics, where Goebel thinks he has the audience roaring with laughter at his words But they are laughing because Dean is tapping his cigarette ash into Goebel's drink when George isn't looking. I still laugh at that clip even after seeing it a hundred times. I count myself lucky to have enjoyed these talented people when I was a kid, and we were also lucky enough to have grown up with some of the best music also. Born 1960, and remember most, if not quite all, of the 70s...we lost so many way too young, but us surviving boomers had some great experiences and accomplishments...RIP to the rat pack. Sammy Davis Jr was able to break down some barriers with just his incredible talent, too. Loved them all.
"he's more of a butterfly" 😂😂😂
Real comedy without foul language. The Best
When people really knew how to be funny the RIGHT way!
Thanks for sharing .
Very sweet
This has to be 45 years old, but it still had me laughing hysterically. I miss comedy.
Haha same here.
I love it.
53 this year..Some people should live forever.
Real comedy. Me too. 65 yrs here
Dean's head waggle after "butterfly". 😂
Two fine looking men❤❤😍😍
My goodness these 2 were good looking!
What a great generation. Now look at us.
Andy Griffith proves his place in the pantheon of TV's greatest straight men.
A Face in the Crowd. They never gave him another chance like that.
@@JRobbySh You never saw Murder in Coweta County? He played bad role to Johnny Cash's sheriff role.

The power of two for double laughter.
Thank you. Andy's crack about the truck was the best part. Fantastic Straight Man. Dean let him shine too, but he was always like that I suppose.
Absolutely Terrific! These two were so great together, I can't stop laughing. Dean & Don Knotts were great too.

Except for Mr Bruce 😜
I Love
Dean Martin is one of my favorite singer.
For sure I'd put him 3rd for his era: behind Frank and Nat.
They be rolling in their graves to be hearing the filthy comedy we have now
dean and andy a class act!!😀
Mr. Bruce was wearing a dress... They predicted the future
They had to keep it clean (with much innueneo) because of the TV censors. It was a different era - I grew up and didnt know cuss words except for damn and hell.

Andy Griffith was a good actor !
The Andy Griffith Show and my favorite TV series: Matlock !

Guys been wearing dresses for a very long time.
Things weren't that different back then. And his 'son' certainly knew more than he thought he did. Great tongue in cheek skit.
"That's another category".........
I miss old America.....normalcy made a wrong turn somewhere along the line.....what happened to our morals and family values......
Yeah I miss when certain people couldn't go on golf courses too.
Dean and Andy. Andy is going to tell him about the birds and bees.
amazing they could do comedy back then without rude words!
but a lot of sexist jokes about women.
theyre the stupidest ones because they make fun of women.

what does zipper mean?
Sounds about right
@Michael Terrell II It means he played around heavily.
Pants zipper meaning Dean Martin thought of Frank Sinatra as promiscuous.
Wickedly funny!!!
I KNOW! comedy today is seldom really funny ,just smartassy
Just saw this for the first time here in 2024. Had me rolling. Timing and wit, where the hell did they go?
Good stuff.
Haha yes.
Love it
WOW :-D
Never saw this before :D
You need to check out Andy;s stand up comedy. He was hillarious. May he RIP.
LOL!...Advanced Smooching!
Stephen Troup 😂😂😂😂😂
Best clean comedian was Red Skeleton. That's not to take away from that era.
Yes, but he knew millions of dirty jokes and he told them when it was appropriate. He was brilliant.
Funny in this skit, and most of them, dean always dropped his cigarette on the floor, then crushed it as you see in this skit @ 0:47. Poor deano couldn't perform without a cigarette in hand. But, he was such pure joy and the greatest in his field.

Classy guys back then. Real men, not wishy washy whiney metrosexual wimps. And no profanity and degenerate BS or PC either. Those were the days.
Also note, they got away with making a joke that they would be shamed for making today - When they made reference to the lucky guy that "Gets to put the body make-up on the girls". Office Picnic. 1st thing about girls. Mr.Bruce. Crazy Shirley. She wants to play Docter. Wife Swapen. The Birds and Bees. This was with Dean and Andy.
We live in insane times where people can’t even figure what gender they are.... 🤨
Obviously they didn't rehearse for this show. Nearly every sketch, they orient at 90 degrees from each other and read over one another's far shoulder.
Dean put in one day a week for rehearsal. The reading drives me nuts. It's lazy prep. Bob Hope read everything off cue cards. Ugh!!

Todays "comedians" are not funny, only vulgar. They drank the kool-aid of political correctness and mean-spiritedness.
