I thought I had become deaf an hour after taking my first tablet. I didn't realize it before, but my standard state was living with the roar of a thousand random conversations going on in my mind simultaneously. I only recognized the noise in its absence.
That's what i try to explain to my gf all the time. She thinks i hear my thoughts. But it's actually all opaque and only gets really clear on meds. But if your in the opaque you don't notice. Just when your out.
I usually have mild Tinnitus, but it seems twice as bad on methylphenidate. I'm only a little over a week in though, so might improve, have had loads of other problems adjusting that's slowly getting better.
I cried the first time after I took it because what the heck was I comparing myself with all my life (35 years) before? No wonder I couldn't keep up with the people without ADHD. I'm so thankful that it works so good for me now!
The noise quitens for me but saltillo a little scatty, I'm more calm though, I started 10 mg, is that considered low?? Good luck people. Hoe do we get dopamine naturally. Take care folks.
I just recently got on Ritalin. The best analogy I have found is “glasses for my brain.” And side effects of Ritalin include taking work home in the evenings. 😊
I’m 3-4 months in and feel calmer and I don’t talk as much as I just too before. I can concentrate but my personality is different. Did you feel something similar? I’m 27 and take 40mg😅
First dose: 10mg. 15 minutes later I notice that the mind chatter is significantly reduced. I liken it to standing on the sidewalk in the middle of busy traffic in a huge city, then climbing inside a nice car with good soundproofing. I can still hear the noise, but it's significantly reduced. Held an in-depth conversation about complicated topics without having my attention pulled in eleventy billion directions while the conversation went on. I didn't have any scatter-brained thoughts escape my lips either. Everything I said was much more cogent, sequential, fit together logically... I did get a bit caught kind of hyper-focusing on an experience in memory. Kept mentioning it or aspects of it over the subsequent hour or so. Day 2. Maybe a mistake, but I tried 20mg as the first dose of the day. Mind-quieting more effective and I felt no reluctance, strain or delay getting about things I needed or wanted to do. I took a follow-up 10mg dose about 3 and a half hours after the 20mg dose and worked for about 90 minutes straight on a book I'm writing. I used headphones, good lofi music on low volume and just worked without thinking of much else. Today is day 3. I get a better and longer-lasting effect on 20mg. I have not noticed any side-effects. Tired after lunch and actually willing to nap, which is no where near normal for my life thus far. I still think there's potential room for optimizing my dosage, but the quieter mind had the lovely side effect of also really toning down the anxiety. Thanks for sharing!
Just been diagnosed (ADHD inattentive type) and started meds two days back. Within an hour of taking my first tablet I had written a to-do list, and instead of going straight into overwhelm (as was normal) I actually started doing things on the list. Already feeling more energised, more focused and more present. Game changer.
It was adderall for me. Diagnosed at 42 with ADHD. The first day I took it I was amazed. I texted my wife and said “so this is what it’s like to have a quieted mind!?!” It’s wild and so hard to explain but I’ll take it!!!
I just started taking Ritalin for TBI induced ADHD. I’m sure normal functioning people would say big deal, but holy shit I just made it through a whole video.
8 weeks I diagnosed at 69...what I multi-faceted and challenging journey it has been! I thank you so much for putting on this video! I will search out your other videos. ❤
It’s crazy how relateble this is. How most of videos like this of people talking about their experience with adhd and meds resonate with me. Word to word same

Love this video. I start Ritalin tomorrow, and this video has helped me feel better about it. I like that you say it gives you insight into what neurotypical people experience their whole lives.
I am 36 years old and for the past 13 years I have been avoiding the truth. I got diagnosed at age 23 but I already knew something was wrong with me at an early age. Having adhd gives you alot of challange as we all most likely experienced. When I got diagnosed I didn't want have any sorts of medication or even talk about it. Now 13 years later I'm tired of running, tired of life and Im finnaly about to give in. The past few months have been hard on me, Im constantly crying, frustrated or angry for no reason at all. The feeling that I'm tired of life hits me atleast twice a week. You know.. Not the suicide feeling. But the one where you think "if that truck would've hit me, it's all over. And I can finnaly rest" I went to see a doctor and and a shrink and the advice is to try out ritalin. The very reason I'm watching this video Im skeptical about it, Ive only heard the bad stories about it. Thank you for sharing your experience.
All I can tell you is that Ritalin's non-addictive - I can dip in and out of taking it as and when I want. It did the trick for me and it works for most other people too. Some folks do not get along with it and either have some side effect (usually bad migraines) or they don't feel any benefit from it. I didn't make this channel to bullshit anyone with claims of wonder-cures, but stimulants have proved to be the most successful solution to diminished dopamine levels in ADHD-brains and I wish you all the best with trying it. :)
Thanks for sharing. I have an unopened packet of the 5 mg starter dose. Thinking of starting the experiment tomorrow! Apparently a big clue to my undiagnosed ADHD was that I've taken speed and other drugs recreationally in the past and not really reacted the same as my peers (did not really affect me so intensely and I was still able to sleep). I also drink two pots of coffee a day and used to guzzle energy drinks. I think my smoking might have been self medicating at one point too. Hoping the meds will be a more healthy tool I can use. But will see. Still skeptical. Diagnosed at 49. Finally figured out what was 'wrong' with me. Turns out there is nothing wrong with me 🙂
I'm younger, but me saying to my mates who were doing MD with me "Hey man I think we got ripped off" while they were chewing their gums off was my first tip off
@@joecoastie99 Well it did not magically switch on my hyper-focus (disappointingly!) and I was convinced they were placebos for a while (even though my psychiatrist insisted they were helping!). But now I realise they do ground me. They calm me down when I am on the brink of a meltdown and help me focus when needed (just not the unpredictable hyperfocus I have relied on all my life). So not a magic pill, but definitely a crutch that helps me.
This video has been an eye-opener as I just got diagnosed recently. I remember having the best sleep of my life after taking Ritalin, which seemed really odd from what I had heard the medicine do to normal people. This explains everything and sort of confirmed my diagnosis further. Thanks again for this wonderful and informative video!☺️
Just found your channel and I'm so glad to see more late diagnosis adults sharing their experiences! I'm a 35 year old female. Got told by a psychologist this year that it's very highly likely that I have severe ADHD combined type. He did an assessment but just couldn't give me the official diagnosis. Where I live you have to go through state run clinics to get an official diagnosis and to be able to get medications. So I've been waiting for six months for my first appointment at the state run clinic. It's coming up in a month and I just want to get it over with so I can start the therapy and medical treatment. I'm so done with being stuck in a chaotic brain. Now that I know there is help out there, I just want it yesterday. 😆
Love this video.. helps me so much! I am 33 now and was just diagnosed with adhd.. i like myself and this hyper active brain but somethimes i need to really be able to focus.. and it feels good to know there are many others.
Thank you for sharing your meaningful insight. It's been really helpful. I've recently got diagnosed with ADHD and as a female all of my life makes sense right now. I've been contemplating about medicating myself with Ritalin but your video has been a great help! Now I know what to do and what not to do. Thank you.
Very useful, thank you. Diagnosed in Jan [aged 51] and have first titration appointment today. I think they are putting me on Elvance [lisdexamphetemine]. You nailed the symptoms perfectly… I listened to a podcast where the comedian being interviewed talked about adult ADHD, whilst describing what seemed like me! Thus my journey began..
I wish I could skip days like you do, but for some reason if I don't take ritalin, I get moody. It's like an antidepressant to me and works better than any SSRI that I've taken, but then not taking it causes me to have emotional withdrawal where I'm just not interested in things.
Awesome video, I started yesterday and can totally relate to your comments. Especially the comment on the sleep. I was very worried that I could not sleep, but i slept like a little baby 😅
Thank you for sharing your experience with Ritalin. I recently was diagnosed with ADHD and prescribed Ritalin. Now I’m waiting for titration process to begin, super excited to try the meds and see if I manage to sort my life together :-)
How was your journey with methylphenidate ? Did it benefit you in term of ADHD ? How was the withdrawal effects ? Brain condition after withdrawn of medicines ?
This was excellent, thank you. I'm older than you (61) and have been on the journey of figuring this out for a while now. There are still many things I have not settled, such as my autistic traits, but I now feel extremely confident that I have ADHD, which is no small thing for me, as I bounce around so much. (At the same time, I have always been aware that I and both my parents "chased dopamine," often with undesirable effects.) So I am about to pursue diagnosis, and while I am already on a noradrenaline blocker that I later discovered is often used as a non-stimulant ADHD med, I'm hoping that Ritalin might do for me exactly what it has done for you. In the US especially, stimulants are viewed with suspicion, because of how they work on the neurotypical brain, especially amphetamines. But based on my own experiences, and what I have read and seen by others, I don't think anyone with ADHD wants their brains to feel more stimulated in the way that it is usually thought about. I've been scared of that -- I start on a stimulant, and it does that, I'll want off it as fast as possible! I finally feel sure enough about having ADHD to be comfortable that it should do the opposite.
Ritalin makes sense to help you sleep, Adderall on the other hand = good luck. Ritalin is nice because it’s not (typically) neurotoxic and in the normal IR formulation, the half-life is insanely short which means great for dosing control* at the expense of having to be on top of your doses, stomach interactions (what you eat, etc). For Adderall, you take it later in the day, you better be absolutely dead tired or have something to bring you down.
@@theadhdarmy The usual "I can't speak for anyone because everyone is different." I've tried Adderall for almost a year and then switched to Ritalin. I'm anecdotally saying that Ritalin is something you can live your life on (primarily due to sleeping). Adderall is bit too much in IR or XR formulation, you either feel nothing is happening or you're overboard. Adderall (dextro/amp salts) to me, does feel like speed, Ritalin is like a calm push, way more productive and cognitively clearer. So, imo, you may not be missing out on anything. The novelty of adderall wears off quickly and your body realize, fuck, this isn't sustainable.
Was recently prescribed generic Ritalin due to my normal medication adderall xr 20 mg being on a nationwide shortage. Didn't work for me whatsoever and gave me stomach pain. Still waiting for this shortage to end lol +1 subscriber
Yea that sucks. You can't actually get Adderal at all here in Australia - it's not on the approved list of stimulant medication. I'd like to try it one day. Hope you get your meds back soon. :)
First dosage of 10 mg right now. In a titration trial. I feel more motivated and more capable of accomplishing my work. I hope this remains the case without any side effects.

Thank you so much i been recently diagnosed and so scared of taking meds… u give me the encouragement to go for it i was prescribed concerta xl same as Ritalin but longer during the day
Thank you I was actually REALLY happy to hear someone else say that the initial effect was underwhelming... I have Ritalin and I was shocked at how little it did (in an overt sense anyway). It was nothing bad but it was nothing like these life-changing 'I'm in tears' moments I see described on RUclips a lot... I was wondering if something was wrong because of that. I'll have to give it more of a try.
Adderall is relaxing. The Psy Doc said I had as bad of ADHD as anyone he has ever seen. If you can control your environment and your attention with limited stimuli and a low carb diet you can manage without. ADHD is really Executive Function Disorder just to be clear. Brian wants to do everything at once and now and has a hard time waiting. ADHD brains are faster than Normal. Sensory stimuli is the worst. I fucking hate noise, almost all kinds of noise.
Me too, I can't watch TV or listen to the radio because they increase the volume during commercials. Lawnmowers, small private planes really drive me crazy.
i have been having extreme imposter syndrome and shame after my diagnosis and getting on ritalin. The craziest thing is i have the exact same reaction to it. It makes me really tired as everything starts to quiet down. Also my anxiety almost goes away after taking it. Thank you for this video

So glad you mentioned sleep! When I told my Dr I’ve been sleeping so much better since being put on Ritalin she was baffled. Glad to know it’s weird. ❤
Off ritalin I have pretty big swings in energy level. I'd have moments of panic and try to get anything done but be too unorganized to start. Then a second later my eyes would be so heavy and cross eyed I wouldn't be able to read the screen. Ritalin evened it out. My mind still wandered but I found myself coming to in a meeting or class with no idea what happened much less often.
I only take it in the morning, so I'm not sure how it affects my sleep. But I've definitely noticed when I started drinking coffee, it makes me super sleepy. Coffee is a stimulant, so I guess it also confirms the diagnosis
I'm taking Ritalin LA 40mg after switching from Adderall XR 30mg because adderall is in shortage. The issue is, ritalin doesn't seem to do anything for me. It makes me supppppper irritated like super super angry for no reason at all. I still feel tired, and I don't have motivation to do anything throughout the day. I just wanna lay in bed on my phone. When I was taking adderall XR, I wanted to get everything possible done in a day. I was motivated, energized, sociable. I just don't feel that on Ritalin. I dont know if it's worth it for me to keep taking it to see if maybe my body has to get used to it from being on adderall, or I should just stop taking it all together. Has anyone had this experience at all?
I'm afraid I can't offer personal insights, as I am not yet on a stimulant. But I am looking at the possibility now, as I do struggle with the irritability and motivation issues you describe, among others. I'm thinking about Ritalin, as Adderall scares me more -- amphetamines are widely vilified in the US. But I do know from reading that people have different neurologies and respond to different meds. It sounds like Adderall is what works for you, and may yet be what works for me, though I sure don't want to contribute to the shortage and make it harder for you and others to get the meds you need. My guess is you haven't gotten any replies because the video featured Ritalin. If you haven't already, you might post the question to another channel -- How To ADHD just did a thing on the Adderall shortage. Or maybe you have been able to get XR again, though the shortage is not over, which stinks.
@@jimwilliams3816 bouncing off this answer, I’d also suggest asking on Reddit, if possible. Lots of folk on there all of the time who have many different experiences and usually have an answer! I wish you luck in your journey! (Also, agreed; different stimulants affect each brain differently- really wild!)
@@olivethesnowman Thank you, good suggestion. I stumbled onto a good autism subReddit a long time ago, before I started doing RUclips, then I had trouble finding it again. I have to learn how to use Reddit. Reddit gets a bad rap -- RUclips does too -- but like everything, there's good and bad and it obviously depends on what subReddit you pick. I have to say that various RUclips channels have been invaluable and life-changing, more so than therapy.
thank you so much for this video. I've been thinking about starting ritalin ever since my diagnosis last year, but my psychiatrist kinda talked me out of it because he said it's potentially addicting. but from what i hear from you this sounds so relieving for the problems i have, so i think i want to try it after all!
I can categorically state that it is not addicting. I quite often skip doses for the whole weekend because I have no specific need to take it. I suspect that if anyone ever did manage to get addicted to it - they would not be someone with ADHD!
I will second that👆 Ritalin is definitely not addictive, in fact I've had no euphoric effects from it at all in addition to it simply not being effective.
This is an awesome video, diag at age 53 and you match me in what you shared tons. But my diagnosis was literally, OMG you have adhd sit down lets chat. LOL My issue is my doc has me take 2 to 3 days off the med weekly and I am useless those day, as well exhuaste sleepy.
When I take my Ritalin LA, I can finally sleep. I was diagnosed last year as an adult with extensive testing. So much in my life made sense. Wish I knew earlier but it is what it is. I also highly recommend bilateral music for my likeminded friends
Vyvanse, Xanax, Adderall, Concerta, Ritalin and other pharmaceuticals are easily accessible from this online specialist i cop from. Super reliable ship's discreetly worldwide???
For me, 10 mg Ritalin helps (even with boring chores), but taking even a single double dose impedes (and just feels unpleasant/zoned-out). Even at that sweet spot though, it isn't a perfect fix - definitely helpful but a little disappointing. Likewise my sleep has been slightly better since taking it. Nothing addictive about it (unlike YT!) - when I run out of pills (eg delay in supply - and my poor planning!), it's just a nuisance, not anything frantic.

I was wondering if anyone here didn't get as much benefit the first time. Today was my first time and I felt very sleepy, and although I was able to notice more quickly that I was distracted, I remained very distracted.
I spent a year working in Tesco stacking shelves and even working one day a week I just couldn’t cope with the absolute mundane job. My colleagues had absolutely no problem and I used to ask the question how on earth can these people do this mundane job day in day out for often years at a time. It was only when I was diagnosed with adhd and starting taking medication I was shocked that I was able to do the job without going for a wander every 10 mins because I was bored shitless.

My first 5mg of methylphenidate tablet I took sent me into orbit with high blood pressure and alertness, I had to start off with half a tablet 2.5mg.. I worked up to 10mg but mixing it with caffeine made me extremely anxious and have panic attack, im now trying lisdexamphetamine. I can only take 10mg and that's half the lowest dose of 20mg tablet. My adhd is survive so I do not agree with the idea that people with ADHD don't get side effects like lack of sleep and extreme energy
I honestly feel like such a robot, it turns my vision into a video, and my emotions just stop, my appetite is gone and I turn into an NPC. But at least I can focus much better
@@theadhdarmy so here’s the scoop: Day 1. No effect except I did less than I planned and was tired Day 2. - Day 6 I took 20mg - tired a lot I’m getting less and less done; I have moments of some non-thinking but rumination still present - should I just try 30mg tomorrow, it’s a Saturday - I have not talked doc yet. Thoughts? I used to get phentermine from diet doc so I could get stuff done but trying not to go there. Help!! ❤️💃🙏🏻
I officially started Ritalin this morning, I broke my 10 mg pill and a half because I am so afraid of being “high“. So far I do agree with you, the background noise is gone and I am able to focus on one task. Hopefully this works for me because I have a demanding job and interior and some life challenges that are starting to overwhelming.

Thank you. Very informative. Suggestion: Although very beautiful your screens in the background are distracting (ha ha). Your intro is cool. You seem to be very creative. Can you tell us if your creativity has suffered since taking the Ritalin? I am concerned about that. Thank you so much!🙏
Unfortunately Ritalin did not work for me, even on the lowest dose my nausea headaches and anxiety were unbearable. On 5 mg, didn’t even get a change to increase it to 10 mg 😞
I am 41 and was diagnosed with adhd and tomorrow I see the medication doctor to start my therapy. I won’t lie I am so fucking nervous. But not because I’m afraid of increased heart rate or other side effects but what if they don’t work. I just want my mind to chill the fuck out and be able to focus on something. I consider myself a maker and I have so much cosplay and props in my workroom that are all, ALL half or quarter of the way finished. I love gaming but haven’t beaten a game in years that’s why I stick to shooters like COD or battlefield because there is no end when you play multiplayer (although I have maxed all my guns in 2042 that game can go eat a bag if you know what). I am decent at so so so many things like plumbing, electrical, prop making, art, soccer, maintenance(my adult job lol), carpentry, etc, but I’m not great at one particular thing and the part that kills me is I know I can be I just can’t ever follow through without my damned brain turning its attention to something else trying to chase down something thinking this new something will be the something that I have been after my whole life. Fuck it’s a mess up there.
I have been prescribed 200mg of Ritalin by two doctors. No side effects whatsoever. 60 mg is the fda maximum dosage daily, but it’s not based on any clinical studies. I ❤Ritalin

6:30 I know that I have to do some work that may not necessarily be the most interesting thing in the world because I've got a mortgage to pay and bills to pay. Umm no. I moved to Asia for the excitement, and starting a company was exciting. Forget mortgages, I'm 36 and don't have a house and I keep missing my bill payments for months now. The company is gone. The motorcycles are gone. If it's not interesting then I can't get started. Only normal people do things because it's "Important".
I’m 45 and was diagnosed at 24 at the same time as my mother and sister. For the first 5 years I was taking Ritalin but it made me anxious so I stopped without consulting the doctor. Do you think I will have to go through the process of being re diagnosed?
I'm 61 and just self diagnosed ADHD, doctor says I'm not bad enough and turned me down for med. Than came across a product called Ormus, just starting on it from what I learned it may help without meds.

Im a bit scared to take my relatine cause when i was younger i used to take them but they made me a zombie , but that could also be cause i needed to take anti depressants , that was 20y ago , im a bit scared of the side effects
I’m about the same age as you and starting on Ritalin. Did you have any problem with it raising your blood pressure? I’m having a hard time getting used to it and have to take tiny doses by cutting the pills. This is my first week on it.
Hi I'm 57 and have ADHD traits but never formally diagnosed. Can get really disorganised if doing a task with me loosing things all the time. Failed uni twice when my 2 best friends went on to do a doctorate and a masters. Have been on an SNRI for a few years after anxiety/depression took over. Think a stimulant will help executive function but stimulation of norepinephrine from even my SNRI raises BP and has reduced my sleep to a fractured state. Think a stimulant that raised NE and DA ( dopamine) is going to hit hard and I also find the NRI makes me sweat a lot more. Has you body adjusted or are u still struggling to adapt. Any positive results?
i was actually diagnosed as a kid, my parents and teachers wouldn't want me to take meds because of the stigma, like they would turn me into a mindless zombie or get me addicted to meth.
how did you guys get such positive reviews right after taking them :( It worked for 2 days until I got heavy side effects and it kinda stopped working. uppered the dosage to 20mg and it didnt change anything. now Im on 30mg and I have so many side effects that its scary. (Ive been on 30mg since 2 weeks) idk how long side effects stay tho
Hello, did it got better? I take Ritalin for 2 weeks for the first time. I feel clear headed but I experience side effects such as headache, back pain, everything feels stiff and sometimes I have a hard time moving. I started to take magnesium which sort of helps and I feel dehydrated a lot. It also elevates my BP and had to reduce the dose by half. It works on my brain but my body suffers. 😢 I hope my body gets used to this. It makes me sleep like a baby except for the aches. Thankfully I sleep so deeply that it doesn’t bother me at night.
I'm taking Medikinet 10mg daily and the most shocking thing for me is, that I don't drink coffee anymore 🤔 I was so freaking addicted to coffee and it's gone 😄
Insightful video. I am 39 and was recently diagnosed with inattentive adhd by a psychiatrist. He prescribed me 18 mg of XR Methylphenidate, which I believe is essentially the same as ritalin. I am interested to try it to see if I can FINALLY reach my potential in my career. As someone who struggled academically and could never figure out why, other than wondering "maybe I am just not an intelligent person", it would be incredible if I had some validation that maybe it wasn't an intelligence issue, rather a neurotransmitter issue. So why haven't I taken my first dose yet? Well, I am a bit scared. I do occasionally have some physical anxiety, and I am sensitive to any sensations with my heart that seem abnormal, so I am scared to take this XR tablet and potentially have to deal with a full day of panic or heart palpitations. I guess there's only one way to find out.
@@alicealleyne Not as bad as I thought it might be. To be honest, on the lowest dose of Methylphenidate I didn't even feel anything. When I bumped up to 36mg I was able to feel a bit of a change. The stimulant effect wasn't too intense. It definitely curbed my appetite. The only anxiety I had was while I waited for the first dose to kick in, not knowing how I would react. As soon as I realized it wasn't that intense, my anxiety dissipated. I probably need to go up to the next dose(54mg) to really get the concentration efforts to make it worth it, unfortunately. Haven't done that yet.
@@theadhdarmy See below. But yes, it does, but not the the degree I'd like. I will probably need to bump up to the 54mg dose for a more therapeutic benefit to my concentration.
@@Icipher4 Thanks for your reply. I had some tests done on my heart and they mentioned something about a long QT interval so I think they’re avoiding meds that affect the interval. I’m assuming that means no stimulants, but I’m not sure. I have a meeting on Monday. Just hope whatever the alternative is will have an equally good affect. Worried about that!

I cried when I took Ritalin the first time, then afterwards when I took Vyvanse I cried too. Strange how many people have the same reaction.
Same here! Took my first dose today and what surprised me the most was the silence. Finally, silence in my head
Same here. All my life I was told what I SHOULD do. And that it wasn’t that hard… I’m so angry
The noise quitens for me but saltillo a little scatty, I'm more calm though, I started 10 mg, is that considered low?? Good luck people. Hoe do we get dopamine naturally. Take care folks.
I just recently got on Ritalin. The best analogy I have found is “glasses for my brain.”
And side effects of Ritalin include taking work home in the evenings. 😊
I’m 3-4 months in and feel calmer and I don’t talk as much as I just too before. I can concentrate but my personality is different. Did you feel something similar?
I’m 27 and take 40mg😅
Taking work home in the evening doesn’t sound great
What’s that supposed to mean ?
@@elchavodelocho2055 Have you been taking 4 months of the same dose with continued effectivity?
Yes! This is exactly what I thought the first day I took it!
I love that "glasses for my brain" SO right on my friend 👍😇
They would probably say "NO big deal" 😅

And I can finnaly rest"
I went to see a doctor and and a shrink and the advice is to try out ritalin. The very reason I'm watching this video
Im skeptical about it, Ive only heard the bad stories about it.
Turns out there is nothing wrong with me 🙂
I'm younger, but me saying to my mates who were doing MD with me "Hey man I think we got ripped off" while they were chewing their gums off was my first tip off
Chewing their gums off lol it makes me feel calm and able to focus more for sure.
Well, how did it go? Life changing for me. Makes me sad I didn’t get treated 35 years ago
This gentleman is fantastic

This video has been an eye-opener as I just got diagnosed recently. I remember having the best sleep of my life after taking Ritalin, which seemed really odd from what I had heard the medicine do to normal people. This explains everything and sort of confirmed my diagnosis further. Thanks again for this wonderful and informative video!☺️

Thank you for sharing your experience. At 48 I was just diagnosed and am awaiting insurance approval to begin my Ritalin treatment.
No worries and I hope it's working out for you. :)
Hope you got in to your appointment and everything is going better for you!
Let us know the results please.
This was great,I've been researching so much but this gave me such a great insight as an older diagnosed person, thank you .

I've been contemplating about medicating myself with Ritalin but your video has been a great help! Now I know what to do and what not to do. Thank you.
No worries Era - the meds do work and they're non-addictive too and definitely worth using with the ADHD at any age :)
Honestly this was a great video and this really helps me understand what to expect
Thank-you kindly :)
Best of luck Stephen - onwards and upwards :)
I wish I could skip days like you do, but for some reason if I don't take ritalin, I get moody. It's like an antidepressant to me and works better than any SSRI that I've taken, but then not taking it causes me to have emotional withdrawal where I'm just not interested in things.
Same here, I think adderall worked better for me but it definitely would cause anxiety in me when ritilan doesn’t
I would like to try Adderall but unfortunately it's not available in Australia. :)
Still waiting for this shortage to end lol

Thank you I was actually REALLY happy to hear someone else say that the initial effect was underwhelming... I have Ritalin and I was shocked at how little it did (in an overt sense anyway). It was nothing bad but it was nothing like these life-changing 'I'm in tears' moments I see described on RUclips a lot... I was wondering if something was wrong because of that. I'll have to give it more of a try.
I have the same experience! My sleep is amazing now!
Great video. One of the best I've seen on Ritalin. Describes everything perfectly. Can very much relate. Thank you. 🙏🏽

So glad you mentioned sleep! When I told my Dr I’ve been sleeping so much better since being put on Ritalin she was baffled. Glad to know it’s weird. ❤
Definitely not weird!
Thank you so much. I’ll be starting meds in a few weeks.
Thank you for sharing.
I only take it in the morning, so I'm not sure how it affects my sleep. But I've definitely noticed when I started drinking coffee, it makes me super sleepy. Coffee is a stimulant, so I guess it also confirms the diagnosis
Could you please explain more about the coffee, thanks.
it makes me take these deep breaths .. like after crying hysteria as a child.
I would recommend to try an elimination diet. There's a growing body of evidence that ADHD is caused by food sensitivities. Check INCA study.
Same circumstances for me, tried Ritalin due to the adderall shortage and it simply didn't work. Also made me irritable and also bothered my stomach.

thank you so much for this video. I can categorically state that it is not addicting. I quite often skip doses for the whole weekend because I have no specific need to take it. I suspect that if anyone ever did manage to get addicted to it - they would not be someone with ADHD!
I will second that👆
Ritalin is definitely not addictive, in fact I've had no euphoric effects from it at all in addition to it simply not being effective.
This is an awesome video, diag at age 53 and you match me in what you shared tons. But my diagnosis was literally, OMG you have adhd sit down lets chat. LOL

Great video, my biggest issue is sleep deprivation, it doesn’t help that I fly long haul for my job as a flight attendant. I’m pretty sure I have ADHD, I need to get myself tested but have no clue where to start, I’m based in the U.K. any suggestions would be great. Thanks so much.
After I got cut off from my 🔌 I couldn't source em anymore until i got entangled with this specialist he's reliable and ship discreetly locally an overseas

This video was perfect at 1.25x speed! I had a hard time paying attention at normal speed
ADHD for me is like a puzzle that i cant seem to put together, thats the way i describe it. Adderall XR helps me with that.
Vyvanse, Xanax, Adderall, Concerta, Ritalin and other pharmaceuticals are easily accessible from this online specialist i cop from. Super reliable ship's discreetly worldwide???

Im a bit scared to take my relatine cause when i was younger i used to take them but they made me a zombie , but that could also be cause i needed to take anti depressants , that was 20y ago , im a bit scared of the side effects
Maybe try a small dose or one of the alternatives :)
Any positive results?
thanks for this vid!!!
Its my second month on xaggitin 27mg. I don't feel a thing but I've noticed i do 10 pomodoros a day. ❤
Pomodoros the time management thing? Said to be useful for the ADHD brain :)
@@theadhdarmy yes. I do 20 min on 5 min break. I have a pc app. Without it , I'll do everything but the very thing I was supposed to do.
i was actually diagnosed as a kid, my parents and teachers wouldn't want me to take meds because of the stigma, like they would turn me into a mindless zombie or get me addicted to meth.
My ADHD has me focused on the screen savers in the background!
how did you guys get such positive reviews right after taking them :( It worked for 2 days until I got heavy side effects and it kinda stopped working. uppered the dosage to 20mg and it didnt change anything. now Im on 30mg and I have so many side effects that its scary. (Ive been on 30mg since 2 weeks) idk how long side effects stay tho
I don't even get side effects, can't even tell i've swallowed a pill.

I didn't know what to expect either....nothing happened 😢.
It is interesting, I have been told the max dose is 60mg/d
I'm taking Medikinet 10mg daily and the most shocking thing for me is, that I don't drink coffee anymore 🤔 I was so freaking addicted to coffee and it's gone 😄
I tried it. Didn't sleep for a few days. It's not for me. I'm guessing my attention problems come from a different source than usual.
Possibly - or maybe your body's just not a good fit for methylphenidate - perhaps try another stimulant like Adderall or the longer last variants. :)
i had to stop taking it, 4 days in, because it would just make me drowsy the whole day ( i have adhd)
That sucks. Did you ever try the alternatives? Adderall or one of the single pill long-lasting versions?
Is being intermittenly tired part of adhd? I was wjde awake watching this but after 5 minutes im tired again...?
Yea, Ritalin is Methylphenidate. How did you go? Did it help you?
I relate to everything you just said! Eager to know how it was for you 😊
@@alicealleyne Not as bad as I thought it might be.
Whatever those meds are, Why does it makes you weak like you are having fever and sleepy?
I have these side effects too. I discovered that it is very dehydrating.
i’m just starting on my journey too !! hope this changes my life ! makes it better 🙏🏽
Best of luck with your diagnosis Zayra - knowledge is power :)
did you take the instant release or extended release like concerta?
Almost instant. In my case it is 40 min before it hits
