I’ve been using it as my main bank for years. I take my salary deposits in revolut with ZERO problems. I use revolut for very large sums of money with literally no problem. I passed SOF in 15 minutes once and that’s it. And now that they upgraded to a BANK which ensured my money up to 100K just like normal high street banks I have no doubt. People who say that they got blocked means something fishy happened. A high street bank can block your account as well to comply with KYC and AML. Play by the rules. Don’t blame the game!
Good informative video Ben, I myself use Revolut as only my wife has a bank account, so now I only have to wait until the bills get paid, my teenage girls get their spends, the dog gets her snacks, the wife gets pampered, to see if anythings left over to transfer for me. Lol
when you buy shares on revolution I believe they are not CFD also Revolut is not your stock broker either, they are nearly outsourcing you to a third party stock broker that you have probably never heard of, just like there interest savings pots which are out sourced aswell
Ben Paton although the trading feature is fairly useful it is quite limiting with its free trades, if you like investing Trading 212 is the place to do it though with zero commission and a wider market, revolut started me off trading when i was still learning about it but I don’t use it anymore
Ben, please be honest. All I see on twitter is revolut blocking peoples account. what do you think this is ? do you think it is safe to keep my money in revolt? I have not seen the traditional banks blocking peoples account or people complaining all day long. if you could help please.
To use a revolut virtual card I have to transfer money from the normal revolut card to the virtual card? Or it takes money automatically from my revolut balance app?
Hello, the virtual cards take money from your normal balance, it's just another card number but has access to the same funds. You can find out more at blog.revolut.com/virtual-card/
@@BenPaton81 ah ok, thanks. Do you know if there is a way to transfer dollars from paypal to revolut if I'm in europe? The problem is that when I try paypal convert the dollars to euro and then transfer to my revolut, an this mean to pay crazy 4.5% commission to paypal... any idea how to avoid this?
I'm not sure why you are trying to go paypal to revolut, it sounds complicated. You can do that if you want but you can also go from your bank to revolut. I think you just need to work out the optimum time to convert from USD to EUR. Saying that when I go on holiday (before Covid lol) I just pay with my revolut card abroad, e.g. in Spain or Poland. The money in my Revolt card is in GBP and you can pay EUR or ZLT (in the case of Poland) transactions. It just converts each transaction. It's the lazy / what's easiest when I go on holiday approach. Not sure if it's the best way to convert financially, you wouldn't do it for a large lump sum but because there is zero commission fee with Revolut unlike with my HSBC card it seems like a really easy way to go. So I'm not sure why you just don't keep your Revolut balance in USD.
@@BenPaton81 Revolut is perfectly ok, but the problem is when I have dollars on paypal and I want to convert in eur... if I do it inside paypal or transfer dollars to revolut paypal apply 4,5% commission. @@BenPaton81 Yeah I'm not sure if Revolut bribed the offer to post this. But using it as your main bank account is a really bad idea. I use to be a Revolut evangelist singing it praises to everyone. Then I got into the verification nightmares still managed to work those out (even though the whole point of revolut for me was to have it on a burner phone without a simcard with no official ties to my declared taxable bank accounts). Thankfully Revolut has never blocked me as I never send money out of the app back to bank accounts. But its enough to check any of their social media facebook, twitter or linkedin to see all the trouble people are experiencing and we are taking about traders and premium users that get +10k euro/GDP blocked with no resolve time in sight.
Good point, unfortunately you can't pay cheques or cash into Revolut. I wouldn't recommend Revolut to be your only account. I use it as my spending money account. I still have a more traditional bank account which I can pay cheques and cash into.
Hello, that's all you need to do, are you sure you were using the right pint and there's money in the account? Perhaps try again with a different retailer. Very occasionally I find one whose PED's don't work with Revolut
Thanks....I was wondering about the Google pay but you covered it.....is that the only bank acc you have now for everyday life? I am currently with Barclays, can you believe that Barclays does not link with Google pay ....that's crazy ....2021 and a bank want you to use there own app...where is the freedom of choice? What about direct debits ? Any problems? Does the free account cover a joint acc? By the way...is it visa? Many thanks
Hello, yes it is a visa card. Very occasionally I find somewhere which doesn't accept it like Asda's petrol station but no problems in 99% of places. It's not my only bank account, it's just where I put my day-to-day spending money and then it's easy to split expenses with my other half. Not sure if you can do a joint account. It works with google play fine, in fact most the time these days I pay with my phone's NFC so paying through google pay to my Revolut account. Indeed odd that Barclays have not caught up with this yet. I wouldn't recommend you put all your money into this account, just spending money and keep your bills coming out of a traditional bank account where your salary goes into if that makes sense.
I've used Revolut for a few years but just for holidays. One gripe I have is they cannot do joint accounts, and one person cannot have another account, say for example for personal stuff
They do block your account, but they resolved it very fast as well, I am a current metal plan user and they blocked my access due to the security reason since I have two mobiles and tried to login from another device. Better not put a fortune there, maximum 300 euro or likewise, just refill your account a little more frequent instead of once in a well with a heavy load.
Yes I don't see why you couldn't do at least in the UK. The account has a sort code and account number. Personally I recommend using it as a spending account.

Technically, Revolut is NOT a bank but Finance App company.
