Do you go back to the U.S. every 3 months or is there a way around it. I'm asking because I have been abroad fro 1.5 years and am under the impression that I am not covered by the Revolut travel insurance.

Yes, now you can. It wasn't an option before... Having said that, you'll still need to set up an account in your phone app, otherwise, the authentication on your PC won't work.

I had this whilst in Poland (usually I'm in UK), my revolut card would spend out of my PLN balance, but then other instances of taking from GBP balance. I wasn't convinced, however the access to overseas spend and limited risk exposure was worth it.

It uses the currency of your address. if there are no funds on that then it will convert from an another currency that you have available!
