Hello everyone! It's been a while :) If you're interested in the timeline I mention a few times in the video you can find it here: hushbird.com/snowcat I hope you are all doing well
Hi Dina! If you remember me from your last stream, I've been doing karate and some stuff like that. Just wanted to say sorry that I left so early on stream and hope you hv a good rest of the day.
Than you for this video, I'm glad you finished snow cat prince so well
I am just trying not to go nutty staying home. Now I seldom get out during the week but being quarantined and restricted even on the weekends is so much more difficult! I have several projects started and looking to finish one this month! Oh loving my book and goodies you sent!
Hi Dina! I'm so happy to see you back on RUclips! Even if it is just this video. I'm still anticipating my copy from the mail! I'm so excited to read it!
Hahaha thx for the info! I really have hard time writing short stories and I anxiety/over think the "will ppl like it? Can I get the right publisher" just all the onknowns. But I kinda sat down and I now I have more or less 4 short or side panel comics? Yah like I don't quite know myself. The main one I'm playing with write now is like a Breath of the wild story arc, a what if plot line to the game, umm I like it so far. My main problem is I focused to much on detail or events that don't particularly need to be in there or I rewrite the them before I even get that far into them or even I get over whelmed by the massive quantity I want to convey or cover.
Any how, a slight rant, that aside I love my characters, I love drawing, animating ect; and I think u are really inspiring and good.

damn we were talking about da vinci last week in quarantine .-.

That's... the same thing in many cases?

Some of my biggest struggles, can anyone relate?
1. Not having any idea of what I want to to, like I want to make a comic but what is it about
2. Not thinking i can create something as good as it is in my head
3. Getting to attach to the idea of my story and not wanting to mess it up by actually writing it
4. Feeling like it will take too much time, and not even be any good, so why bother.
Edit:
5. The story changes like I have one idea but it would work in the story so I have to use it in another one ( basically there are a million possibilities for a story so it’s hard to pick just one)
6. My art is not where I want it to be. I’m ok but I really want to be in a place where I am confident I could draw like Dina (for example not comparison)
7. I can draw something for my head I’m super creative until I sit down to draw must likely because of #6 and I don’t think my idea can translate to paper in the way I want
8. Practice can sometimes feel like a chore and just make me sad I’m an as good as I want to be so leaning becomes frustrating
Thanks for all the replies they are so fun to read!
Paige Seymour 2 and 4, I feel that 😔👊
Chances are, if this is your first time making something like a comic it will not be very good. That said, how will you ever make something that you ARE proud of and that you do think is good? You have to start somewhere. The most important thing to remember is to start small. Maybe just start by creating a simple character, redraw it a ton and create a back story for it. Where does it live, who are its friends and enemies, what makes them special? Start with a small building block and grow from there.
I've been a struggling artist my entire life. I'm an "artist" by trade and it can be crushingly difficult to continue moving forward sometimes when your own abilities fail you. The passion to create keeps me going though, there will always be another project to do better on.
Paige Seymour Literally the four biggest struggles right now. Seriously want to make a web comic or novel but am scared my small ideas aren’t enough to make anything good
SAME - ALL OF IT
I have a whole story line, dialogue, and character concepts prepared, plus I’m in a quarantine. I think this is my time, I’ll definitely use your advice! :oD
Yup! What better time? Lol! I agree.
Lmao same here bud. Let’s do this 👊😆
Same! Im typing out the story right now and im excited to start
Meme Salsa did you start with story line? Can you share personal tips?
Yo I’m in the same situation
I am so super excited because i JUST recieved your book about "the Snow Cat Prince". I have never been happier with a package
I’m so happy it arrived safely and I hope you enjoy it
Aww that’s so sweet glad everybody’s safe and happy!

Jokes aside CONGRATS GIRLY and thanks for the advice! I’ve been itching to start my passion project but I’m waaaay too nervous, seeing as I’ve never really done a comic before, so I just might take your advice and start something smaller and work my way up
I read “The Girl Who Drank The Moon!” It’s so beautifully written!
Omg yes that's my favorite book!
Perfect is the enemy of good. Congratulations on an amazing accomplishment. Writing a book alone is daunting; everyone starts, but few finish. Nevermind writing AND drawing a graphic novel.
Keep your passion and keep finishing your projects!
I remember back when you first uploaded some of your concept art of the snowcat prince bcak a bit more than a year ago and now its here and its finished and beautiful and im so proud and amazed.
I'm hoping to grab a copy of "The Snow Cat Prince" when there are more copies available. Also, your next 2 projects sound so interesting. ♥
Same. It looks really cool.
Hey Dina (Lovely person) as someone who is a very close follower of you and has followed this journey (and many others) from the start, I feel like this is the best summary you could have written! It lists off many great tips, things you've chosen and directions you've maken and with you being so honest and upfront about this whole entire project is completely amazing! It's a perfect step up for young/new creators to get some great tips and Get a new start into creating stories! Thank you so much for this and I know that this journey is not yet complete but it will almost be! Let's say goodbye to Syv and Kit, with happy tears and a graceful nod and head to new horizons (both for an animal crossing break and metaphorically) and work on new things! To the future, my dear friend
I really love your work Dina, and I’m really happy you’ve been able to persevere and finish this, because I have such a hard time even finishing a simple illustration, so I imagine that this whole GRAPHIC NOVEL by yourself was a challenge. I have my own graphic novel that I’ve been planning, and I feel like now I’ll finally be able to start it because of you! Thanks!
Thank you so so much!! It was a challenge but it was a good one :D I’m excited to move on to a new project
Dina Norlund I will and hopefully one day I’ll be able to show you
Congrats and thank you for sharing this journey.
And I just saw that Dina passed - so sorry to the friends and family.
“The only advice anybody can give is if you want to be a writer, keep writing. And read all you can, read everything.”

Thank you for sharing! I'm currently working on my very first children's book project, nothing big I will probably just print it for family and friends and use it for university application. Your video helped and inspired me to keep going. Best wishes from Germany!
this video could not have came at a better time for me. i'm planning on starting my first illustrated novel very soon (for camp nanowrimo if you know what that is) and i've been struggling with how to do a few things. i was a writer before i became comfortable in my artist label so i feel very good about my story, but the art part is foreign to me. i've never combined writing and art in a story so i'm very excited.
and congrats on finishing the project! that's the best feeling ever :D
I'm not even finished with the video but this has been really helpful! I've been playing with plot, character designs, and lore for a story of my own, but it would be a very large ongoing thing. Your video has made me realise that the reason I'm taking so many breaks with it and taking so long to really get rolling on the project is because of just how big it is. It seems obvious now, but working on little, self-contained stories in the world might be more immediately rewarding and motivating and something I'm excited about!
I can't believe it is finally available for pre-order and I'm surprised that I have been following it's creation since 2018 I can't wait to read it and I hope I can order it soon
Looks like a wonderful book and thank you for your honesty. I think boredom is probably one of the biggest inhibitors besides starting too big and getting overwhelmed. A very helpful video. Thank you very much. I'll sign up for an alert when the book becomes available again!
I'm so happy that you posted another video!
aaaaa
Such a huge project, congratz on finishing it up Dina!
its so nice to see you again!! congrats on everything and i hope you are doing wonderful ♥♥
You have inspired me for the longest time! I'm definitely rewatching this every time I work on my stories! 😊
Thank you so much for putting all this info and advice out, it's really helpful! :D
Oh my gosh! I want to get this book! I love your art and stuff, and I can't wait to see what you do next!
It looks so polished!
This is a great video! The advice you give is very useful :)
AUGH, YOU'RE SO INSPIRING!!! AND I LOVE YOUR ART!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Gratulerer med dagen!! 🇧🇻
Thank you Dina Norlund for inspiring me. Seeing you able to have your achievement on your hands just inspires me to do the same😊. Again thank you! 💖
So glad to see you back on you tube! Ive been thinking of a grand story, but that makes sense to start on a small story for practice. Thanks for always shareing and taking us along for the ride!! Love to hear your voice. Stay safe. 😁
Dina!! I missed you ! Very inspiring video as always, I'm so happy for you!
Received my book and read it several times already, its amazing and the art us stunning great job Dina!
This looks awesome! I love your artwork. I've had an idea for a character for years but have never set any time aside to work on it. This video was the kick in the pants I needed. 🤗 Can't wait to see what your next project will be!!
such perfect timing in my life cause I'm starting my own story.. THANK YOU YOU'RE AMAZING
This is a great video! We've been working on our coloring book and first novel for a few years now and when you said there will always be something to change, it brought relief. Cause my team and i have been trying hard to make sure its "perfect" but it was really tiring so now we are just going to go ahead and put it out on march no more changes 😂🙏
I just discovered your channel through this video and I can safely say you earned yourself a new subscriber! I’ll probably check out your book too since it looks so charming and fun. I found you at the perfect time too since I’m working on my own graphic novel.
Huge congratz for completing your project! Looking forward to seeing what else you have in store
Such an inspiring video! I Loved watching it
great advice. thanks fo sharing your experience in such an approachable fashion
Thank you for making this video! It is very helpful to me to see the process of people telling storyes and working on big projects.
I have so many ideas for large projects that I want to do someday. The problem is whenever I try to think of a small project I get too attached to it and keep expanding it in my mind till it is no longer a small starter project.
I like the idea of doing illustrations for poems or fairytales, that is something I will have to try.
Congratulations for this big accomplishment! You're an inspiration for aspiring artists! ...and you're amazing!
I'm super excited for the book to come and waiting patienly here at home :3 I guess it will be surprise whenever it arrives! Thank you for sharing your experience with us! It's a boost for motivation to start my projects and keep going! :)
Great motivational video. Lots of amazing info I can use on my journey. Thanks for making it and congrats on completing your project.
You pretty much validated all of my thoughts on this process, thank you. It's super nice to finally come across another artist that shares this as I have very little support or feedback from my circle or family.
This was hands down the best video I've watched on this subject so far.
thank you so much for being so real, and giving wicked tips and advice.
My notebook is looking great and my mind is at ease now with how I'm going to start my project.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!
This video is so wholesome and helpful and inspirational.
We stan a inspiring unproblematic beautiful creator.
I love your hair, I love all the amazing information and advise you gave, I love what I saw of your style, and your little checking-off-projects-accomplished board, and that bit where you apologized to your plants at the end, and thank you for being really encouraging and wonderful! I am now EXTRA encouraged to work toward my own projects.
Congrats can’t wait to read it!
thank you so much for this video Dina, it helped me a lot!
I don't even do comics, but for some reason watching you always makes me feel so motivated to go work on something
This is super duper informative and encouraging! Thank you so much for this video!!!💕
Congratulation on finishing your book!!!
It's been so amazing to follow you on this very long journey and seeing the process. I can't wait to get my copy, although I know it will still be a while before the preorders are ready (which I totally understand). I'd rather wait a couple of weeks more for an awesome book than get it early/super fast and find problems with it.
Anyways just wanted to say that you are such an inspiring artist to follow and I can't wait to see what comes next. Thank you for being so awesome :D
Congratulations!!! 🎉🎉🎈🎊🎂
Dinaa, I really missed your videos! Its amazing your book, really beautiful, congratulations!
Ironically I do feel like you are inspiring me to start drawing again. Your artwork is amazing!
Very good wrap up for the project! I hope your glad you were able to get your story done even from just the title! My experience is similar I still have un-finished ideas and you have amazed me that you can work through so many troubles! So many wonderful tips too! Thanks!
Awesome vid Dina! Thanks for sharing this complicated process, greatly appreciated :D! I really like the advice on start from a small story from the world youre building, that really gives me a general direction on what I should do! I'm just still deciding whether to realize it as a graphic novels, or rather as an animation, which both have their own difficulties. Anyways cheers :DD and I'm excited to see your next project!
Your videos are always so inspiring. Congrats on your book, that's something to be very proud of. As someone who has been toiling away on a project for a long, long, long, long, loooooong time, I can tell you I am looking forward to the day I am done and can move on.
Hi, thank you so much for all this advice! I’m working on a pretty big graphic novel and it’s been a work in progress for ages the story keeps changing but I’m finally feeling like it’s coming together… I’m at about 200 pages atm (all in rough thumbnail form) and I’m just finishing off linking parts together as I haven’t been working chronologically. Piecing together everything is a huge struggle but it’s getting there! My biggest worry is the finalizing… there’s so many pages I need to add detail to, the environments especially are going to take forever 😅 It’s refreshing to see someone with a finished book after putting in so much effort. The grind is a huge struggle but still so worth it ^^
It looks so beautifull, I love it!
Thank you for all the great info!
Oh my gosh this is so amazing! You are very talented & I am so excited to have found your channel. My daughter loves drawing & graphic novels and we are doing a unit for our homeschool on graphic novels - stories, art, author styles, etc. We are watching this for sure & will look for your books as well!
Congratulations on completing your Snowcat Prince project! 😊🎉🎉🎉 and thank you so much for sharing your journey, good luck with your next projects!
Dear Dina,
congratulations for finishing your book! It turned out beautifully!
I want to thank you for all your valuable tips and advice. It helped me a lot and gave me new perspective and motivation in approaching a comic I'm currently making/planning.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful work with us. All the best to you! 😊
Thank you very much for this video, it helps a lot starting something!
Eeeeee! I realllyyyy want to read it so much!!! I'm super excited, and congratulations!
Hehe thank you so much :D
I got mine the other day. It was so nice to get such an amazing package during this weird time in the world. It truly gave me a wonderful spark of joy. The book is just beautiful. The story is awesome. I can not thank you enough for creating this. I very much look forward to your next project. ❤️❤️❤️
This is really helpful! I am in a group and we are creating a graphic novel! I am a storyboard artist and I'm also responsible for drawing the final product. Being in a group is the best, I am not so good at writing so I get to do something I am more comfortable with and other talented people can do something I am not comfortable with
Received it early March & finally got to open and read it and just wanted to say, I love it so much
Got late to the party here, but I'm glad I stumbled onto this video! I'm currently working on a graphic novel as my uni final project, and this came in handy with the great insights you gave over the whole process! Thanks Dina!
You are inspiring me to start creating again. Thanks!!
Thank you Dina, you are an inspiration. I’ve held myself back for far too long. I recently became a mother so my art has been put on the back burner but it’s something I will never give up on. And hope one day I can work from home like you and create amazing projects that light me up. Hope you are doing well. P.S love your hair❤️ Also congratulations!
Dina has definitely artistically inspired me the most. I hope that I can create a book in the future of some sort. Dina has truly impacted my motivation and goals and I wouldn’t be the same without her.
Hey dina it has been so long I’m so happy that you came back love your video’s
Thank you so much, happy to be posting again!
Just finished the book, it was beautifully done, hoping to see more projects from you soon!

i'm so proud of you for finishing the book, i read it as soon as i received it and i loved it, i'm looking forward to read your other books as i plan to buy them next month.
Congrats on finishing it :D!!!
Congratulations on finishing this big project! I received the book recently in France and read it right away haha
I really enjoyed the artwork in it. The book is of very good quality! For some reason though I expected the characters to have more depth and I think it lacks adventures in the middle (idk how to say it). I think this is because I thought it would be more mature when the project was a children book at the beginning. So yeah this is just me having probably wrong expectations and I'm not questioning the quality of the book itself! It's a one shot, it was a tremendous work and I'm so happy to have supported you! I will for sure reread it later on to enjoy the story and art more. I'm truly looking forward your next project and follow you along in your journey!
Thank you Dina! This was very helpful :D
wow! your art is amazing and your cats chracters are super cute, especially the prince. I love cats!
The girl who drank the moon is such a cute book!
