It's amazing Bev still remembers the Anaheim Stadium gig. My friend and I were there that day for the Out of the Blue tour and we also saw Journey that day for the very first time with a new member, Steve Perry. Steve sang on maybe 6 songs, but the rest of their concert was only the original 4 members. We were blown away, indeed!!!
Really great interview. Big fan of Bev and his playing (especially with The Move), so insightful, that guy has had a great career in a lot of important, great bands. So jealous!
What a fantastic interview. I was lucky enough to meet Bev a few nights ago after seeing him perform an absolutely brilliant set with his band in Cannock. Unfortunately I fluffed it...he was a lovely man but my brain froze and my mouth dried up and I ended up babbling! That's what happens when you get to meet a total legend! Oh well, Jeff Lynne next on my bucket list!!
Dina6279 i felt that the first time I filed in front of 10cc in 2016 to get stuff signed by all band members. 2nd time around with GG I was a bit more prepared! Bev was great touring with Jasper Carrot ..must look hum up! 😉
funnily enough i don't think bev plays on the studio version, i believe jeff made the drum track on a drum machine but bev could play it even better live of course :)
Bev new fan from Canada here. You are a smashing interviewee. You give thorough answers with timelines loads of interesting info.. I am enjoying learning about your history in bands you were original member of. What an impressive successful musical career.
First seen Bev at Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix for ELO’s On The Third Day tour. Celebrity has a round stage that slowly turns. Their setup fully utilized this aspect. Very impressive show. Bev wore these rainbow boots that just looked too cool because the movement was in time with the song being played. Not only is Bev an excellent musician, he also has an excellent memory (often the tell of a person with integrity). Pay attention to all the info he puts out in the interview from long ago. Now add that to all the songs he knows too. LOL
My wife loves ELO and she was just googling some early images and I couldn't help but laugh when she said that in some pics Bev looks like Sally Field lol
Not much of a mention of Roy Wood...ELO was his idea really, Jeff Lynne was brought in to the Move to augment the first ELO line up...the rest is history.....brilliant songwriters Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood..
Bev Bevan is right up there in my list of people I would like to be as good as .
Excellent series. Looove this. Bev has been a part of the Brit music scene for so many years.

Superb interview and some great rock n roll memories.
YOU HAVE ALWAYS HAD ME AS YOUR FAN SINCE THE 70'S FROM USA
Don't Bring Me Down was the one song that inspired me to start playing, so Bev has held a very special spot for me for 35 years. Good stuff Dom!

@@catherineb7135 You're right. Jeff Lynne did a drum loop on it. He played all the instruments on that song.
The loop was extracted from "On the run" a song in which Bev Plays ;)
Great man big fan of his
