Agree (this song isn’t from the Rapture album, but all the tracks on it were great) all her songs and albums are unique and she sounds distinctly Anita each song
Snoop Dogg said it best. No matter what type of music you listen to, you HAVE to have Anita Baker on your playlist. One of my top 3 favorite female singers.
Anita Baker and Sade are two of the best female jazz vocalists of all time and my two favorites ever. Miss Anita is sweet with her vocals and I am so happy yall reacted to her.
Anita Baker is the epitome of the singer's voice as an instrument. Amber is developing an excellent ear, by the way, because she noticed the jazz influence in Anita's voice. Anita is an extremely accomplished jazz singer, and I don't even know how many octaves her voice is. She is a GENIUS singer who never got the credit she deserves. Can't wait until you get back to her. May I suggest "Caught up in the Rapture" as your next one? Great video!
The music video for “No One In The World Live in 1986. You get to see her hit those notes then she runs off stage to her dressing room thanking everyone. In the 80’s hair hair cut was the style in Los Angeles called “The Anita Baker Cut”
Anita came into a restaurant I worked at back in the 90s. She used to live in Grosse Pointe Michigan in one of those big mansions across from the water. Very polite woman very quiet woman and her voice is impeccable. I've been a fan since I can remember listening to music.
Miss Anita, a true queen of R&B. You're two songs into her discography, but you got so many smooth, silky songs to listen to! "Caught Up in the Rapture" is phenomenal, as is "Just Because" and "Body and Soul". While I'm here, might I recommend some Toni Braxton ("You're Making Me High"), Mark Morrison ("Return of the Mack"), Brandy ("I Wanna Be Down"), Jodeci ("Forever My Lady"), En Vogue ("Hold On"), and Aaliyah ("Are You That Somebody?").
The music video was filmed inside the 109th Field Artillery in Kingston, Pennsylvania. Literally next door where I live. It's also her best charting song.🥉
Anita Baker has all the hallmarks of a great voice - Her voice moves smoothly from chest voice (lower part of her range) to her head voice (higher part of her range); Anita the ability to control her tone by where she can place the note she is singing into different resonant areas of the vocal tract (from the vocal cords, to placement in her head, along with mouth shape and placement of the tongue); to cap it off, Anita has excellent breath control to bring smoothness to the notes and control of the volume from crooning to belting to light and airy. As an artist, she naturally/intuitively uses the above tools to serve the song without having to consciously think about how she is singing the song, she just becomes the song. She sings in the range of Mezzo-Soprano which covers about 3 octaves. Watching Jay and Amber always makes me smile. 🎸😎
Whew!!!! Watching J fall for Anita's voice was brilliant. She is *it* for me. I can't get enough of her music. "Giving You the Best That I Got" is the lead single from her third album Giving You the Best That I Got (1988); it's Anita's highest charting hit on the Hot 100, peaking at #3 and also spending two weeks at #1 on the R&B chart, her first number-one on this tally. The song won Best R&B Vocal Performance - Female and Best R&B Song at the 1989 Grammys. Please react to Anita Baker - "Caught Up in the Rapture" and "Same Ole Love (365 Days a Year)."
I saw your first reaction to Anita Baker's sweet love and definitely suggested that you react to this one so happy you did and that you could hear her magnificent's and there is more to come.
All right my babies..... When I first heard of Anita Baker in the mid-80s, I rushed out to purchase her debut album. Her vocal transitions have such fluidity, it's certainly nothing short of impeccable ‼️🔥💯😊
Ms. Baker has one of the most soulful voices ever! She always gives a masterclass on perfect vocals. 🔥 Can I suggest "Body & Soul", " I Apologize", "Caught up in the Rapture". Anita Baker is a great rabbit hole to go down!
Another amazing song by Anita Baker is My Joy. That really shows that she is singer's singer. Just think....we had Anita Baker and Sade at the same time. Gosh I miss music like this.
She was from Detroit and represented our State and she was so huge in the metro Detroit area when I was growing up. This lady was so classy and she had such a beautiful voice.
She is also know as The Songstress. A well deserved title! She was pretty much at the top of her game throughout the 80s. Check out one of early songs; “Angel”, this pretty much kicked of the career of the Anita Baker we know today. I say it that way because she also sang with a group in the late 70s; “Chapter 8”, they really never charted although “I want to be your girl” is worth listening to.
Anita Baker is the name , the sound is passion, the result is love. When your hear her sing it hits deep , she causes you to move your hands and feet. She is magic. Enjoy
I wore out several of Anita Baker cassette tapes when her album first released. Every song was a gem, I played it over and over. You are correct, she has one of the best female voices ever. When she was first starting in the business, she was told that her voice was not "marketable"! Can you believe that?! Please do more Anita Baker.....
Anita's voice flows so smoothly. There doesn't seem to be any transitions at all. It makes you want to tell your Echo to play Anita Baker and turn down the lights with a tasty drink.
Anita Baker is simply my best female vocalist, So many great songs like rapture, been so long, mystery good love and sweet love (you reacted to this song)
That voice is mesmerizing! Loved it for days! Anita Baker just had to open her mouth and she had me! After awhile she didn’t make anymore loving music we missed her! Marriage and kids!
The number of babies made in the late 80's and early 90's with this song playing in the background cannot be counted. Her husky, impeccable voice is unmatched. Love Anita so much! "Caught Up in the Rapture," "No One in the World," and "You Bring Me Joy" are some other ones to check out. Another R&B super star that I don't think y'all have touched on much is Luther Vandross. "Here and Now" was played at many a wedding as the first dance (you already reacted). "Any Love," "So Amazing," and "A House Is Not a Home" were other great ballads. Another lady for female Fridays is Oleta Adams. She was on a song with Tears for Fears that you reacted to. You really should hear her sing "Get Here." So so good.
When she did her premiere album, that was the number one album in the 80s. I think she never had to work again a day in her life after that album came out, and she has been riding that wave ever since. Get that album.
I was 15 when this came out. It immediately became my favorite vocal performance and to this day it still is. I rushed to get the album and had it on constant replay throughout 1988. As a 15 y/o white gay boy i had the good taste of recognizing great music.
You HAVE to listen to her "You Bring Me Joy"!! Anita Baker blew into the 80s like a tiny, mighty tornado. (She's only like 5 feet tall, if that.) In truth though, anything by her is well worth listening to; you won't be disappointed! Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane! Love you guys! 💖
Anita is the best of the best and deserves much more than she's received. She hails from Detroit and my alma mater Cass Tech HS. Her voice is as smooth as silk. She had a string of hits in the 70s and 80s and each one was golden.
Anita Baker has that jazzy smokey room voices. She knows her pocket and never over sings a song. That Rapture album had so many hits.
I have the "Rapture " album and you're right. It's one of the best albums I ever bought. Every song on it is great.
It sure did! I was selling CDs at the time and people of all ages were faithfully buying it week after week, month after month.
One of my favorite albums that I own.
Listened to that whole album straight thru
Agree (this song isn’t from the Rapture album, but all the tracks on it were great) all her songs and albums are unique and she sounds distinctly Anita each song
Snoop Dogg said it best. No matter what type of music you listen to, you HAVE to have Anita Baker on your playlist. One of my top 3 favorite female singers.
Never knew Snoop said that, But he is sooooo very right!!😊🙏💖
My top female ❤
Anita Baker and Sade are two of the best female jazz vocalists of all time and my two favorites ever. Miss Anita is sweet with her vocals and I am so happy yall reacted to her.
Gross.. I hate those 2.. Their voices are awful

@@traci4187 Ewww.. Terrible

So many singers are just that singers. Anita Baker is a Artist, her voice is a trained instrument. More Jazz vocalists please
To me Anita Baker is my "turn off the lights, light some candles, and have a glass of wine" music. Just sit and let her voice surround you.
yo...sexy time
Her voice makes me want to burn my house down and go on a rampage... I hate her voice
couldn't say it better
Oh she is in a class all by herself. Defines talent.
Anita Baker is the epitome of the singer's voice as an instrument. Amber is developing an excellent ear, by the way, because she noticed the jazz influence in Anita's voice. That's probably the best description of her voice
Every song is magic but "You Bring Me Joy" will bring you to your knees. It is pure Heaven. Just amazing!
yesssssssssssssssssssssss
Love that song
Anita Bakers voice is a warm silky rich, deep dark chocolate, ganache! It is a rich decadent dessert for the soul.
Anita seriously has the most beautiful voice in the world
Anita Baker's voice reminds me of swaying in a hammock on a sunny spring day surrounded by flowers with a cool breeze and a glass of cherry moscato.
Scoot over and I'll join ya.
The music video for “No One In The World Live in 1986. You get to see her hit those notes then she runs off stage to her dressing room thanking everyone. In the 80’s hair hair cut was the style in Los Angeles called “The Anita Baker Cut”
That performance is sheer perfection! 🥰
I am so glad you did Anita Baker again!! She is my ALL TIME FAVORITE FEMALE SINGER. She literally makes me tear up when I listen to her sometimes.
I honestly thought it was just me. She’s the only female singer that makes cry just listening to her.
Me too. The way she sings gets me so emotional. It's stunning. I never ever tire of her voice.
Anita Baker is so awesome!!!
That voice! So smooth, such range, so utterly distinctive. I always loved hearing her on the radio.
Love, love, love Anita Baker. She has never sung a bad song in her life. Big rabbit hole to visit.
Her diction is incredible too. Every word is crisp and clear.
Anita Baker is all about classic R&B, beautiful voice!
Anita came into a restaurant I worked at back in the 90s. She used to live in Grosse Pointe Michigan in one of those big mansions across from the water. Very polite woman very quiet woman and her voice is impeccable. I've been a fan since I can remember listening to music.
This not just female Friday but everyday for this lady. Thank yall for this one.
Beautiful woman, with such a beautiful voice !!!!!!! 🥰😘
I've loved her from the first moment I heard her , I was 8. I'm now 44. One of the most beautiful voices on earth ❤

I bet everything on my wedding ring; one of the most beautiful lyrics ever ... Rob looks like he can't believe the voice he's hearing is real. lol

Anita Baker and her amazing voice! Chills, still, after all these years.
The very first time I heard Anita I fell in love with that voice...I always wanted her to sing(in person) me to sleep every night.
Anita Baker's voice came from her toes all the way up to the sky with no effort whatsoever! She's brilliant ❤️
I've loved Anita Baker since I first heard her when I was 19 and I still listen to her now at 51..
Greatest female voice ever!!!
I love that y'all TRULY know proper words to describe singing qualities and attributes!
Anita Baker's voice melts me like butter warmed by the sun.
Anita was one of my mom's fave singers back in the 80's. This one takes me back. So smoooooth.

She’s got the most beautiful low register that she does when she hits the high notes, equally. Just such a gorgeous voice!

Yes!!!! Anita is IMHO the best RnB/Jazzy voice out there.
Simply amazing voice.
Anita is a soulful singer
Amber, she filled that whole huge room with her rich, smoky voice...top to bottom, end to end. So beautiful!
I remember hearing that song when it came out, and stopping what I was doing to listen to every syllable. Anita captured my attention that moment.

I fell in love with Anita the moment I listened to her 'Rapture' album back in the 80s. Her timbre reminds me a little of the great Sarah Vaughan.
