If you have come here to grandstand on the graves of people who have not yet been buried, you are not welcome. It is distasteful and shameful to do so; I am embarrassed for you. Well he said silencer and suppressor obviously most people would think there would be a direct comparison and not what this mans had to say about what they each were. So i really just wanted a direct comparison, not a lecture on what they were.
Basically silencers are the actual name the person who made gave the thing; as the aim of it was to “silence” the gunshot. But because they don’t actually “silence” the shot they just “suppress” it, people called it suppressors

Jeremy Walker muzzle brakes are flash suppressors but do they help with recoil? i would think because the muzzle blast is going horizontally rather than all sides, it would have more controllable recoil? or is this not how it works
I usually correct silencer to suppressor because of the implications. Silencer implies total silence where suppressor implies a reduction in sound which is more accurate to what's happening
Yes, the patent name means nothing. that doesnt make it "correct" thats ridiculous. what it technically does and what it is, is the correct name. you could patent "benz" as the first car, but its still an automobile
😂🤣😆😂😆 If he would have said that the main function is not to reduce sound level but muzzle flash to avoid visual identification of the shooter location during night ops, that would have been much more educative for people.

Did you fired a gun with supressor only on your game console??? Throw that stupid game console and get a real life. Games are for kids, not for adults who don't know what to do with their free time.
@@nikolanikolovski2138 when one becomes a adult they leave behind what makes them a child this includes being worried of being seen as a child and the notion that something as trivial as a hobby has anything to do with being a adult. Also I don't think most games with semi realistic guns are really suitable for children to begin with.
I like to use the term suppressor, here's why. The movies show the gangster, hit man or otherwise bad guy thread a 'silencer' on a gun and pfft, pfft he whacks someone. We of course know that the sound is far louder than what is illustrated in the movies. So I like the term suppressor to try to push the notion that guns are not silent when such a device is used; you know, remove from the public the fear of dropping dead walking down the street from an unknown assailant's silent gun. I also detest the term 'assault rifle', assault is a verb, not an adjective; I like semi-auto. If an uninformed friend calls my AR an assault rifle I kindly explain the above and concede that the term is a media driven term that is more applicable to a fully automatic military rifle such as an M16, which an AR is not.
Richard Craver Isn't that ironic and hypocritical?? I mean if the term "assault" isn't an adjective, and thus "assault rifle" is an invalid term, why would it be valid for automatic guns?? lmao.
Kocha Sapam Quoting from Wikipedia - "The term assault rifle is generally attributed to Adolf Hitler, who for propaganda purposes used the German word "Sturmgewehr" (which translates to "storm rifle" or "assault rifle"), as the new name for the MP43, subsequently known as the Sturmgewehr 44 or StG 44." It fit nicely with his Blitzkrieg and Storm Trooper narrative. The term is still used today as a propaganda term.
Heard the term Silencer and Suppressor, thought they were just different words for the same thing. Then I heard someone correct someone saying suppressor was the correct term. That confused me cause I thought to myself, "They're different things?" Promptly went looking, as I would actually like to have facts than just what I heard some guy say on the radio who isn't a gun expert. Found myself here and glad I did.
First time i can say that: I´m happy to live in Germany. We don´t have this "terminology discussion". The word in German is "Schalldämpfer" (sound suppressor), that´s it. Now for the price: 1000 bucks is stupid. There is no technical reason for such a high price. I would like a price near 50 bucks. And then, at least in areas with a lot of people, it should not be forbidden, it should be required. Not so much, to protect the person shooting. More to protect the people around him. The shooter should use hearing protection even using a silencer. At least until silencers are better then now. But the people around him are better protected, if the shooter uses a silencer, then now. The discussion legal / illegal is bullshit, i think. The "good people", which want to make this devices illegal, have seen to much Hollywood movies.
They are needed for some hunting dogs due to the subsonic crack being to high pitch the dog cant understand commands. As for price buy a tax stamp & make one there's nothing to it but be careful the higher Caliber you go
Norman Rindom all of you guys are so stupid that even I, not being a British and not a native speaker of English in the first place, understood that he knowingly used the word "moderator".
The logic of government is almost laughable. On one hand they require you to lower the sound of a car/truck. And will fine you if you don't. But then they make you pay and jump hurdles to keep your firearms quiet.
Tim Vatter dude if everyone can easily buy silencers dont you think it will make killing people so much easier since a gunshot would warn people of imminent danger while a silence weapon wouldnt be heard
Yeah but that means, that silencer is a patented name. Its a product, like the trijicon ACOG. The thing it self is still a suppressor. A silencer physically cannot exist. As you can take out the sound of the gas leaving the barrel, but not the super sonic crack of the bullet (that can be eliminated with sub sonic ammo BUT: keep reading) the next sound you cannot get rid of is the gas leaving the chamber when the receiver slides back (not sure about the English word) as well as the metal sound connected with that exact action.
You can't patent a name. You can patent an idea, but the rights to exclude others from using your idea is optional and only lasts for 20 years. You can trademark a product name and the inventor in this case called it Maxim Silencer, not just silencer. The name doesn't have to be accurate either. It could've been called anything.
The device was originally called a silencer. No one cares if you have an issue with that word. It’s not silent but it’s still the name of the device. Deal with it bro
You can lock the slide if you purchase the aftermarket components for some firearms. While still not silent, it reduces the sound even further albeit at the loss of semiautomatic functionality

The rate of non-fatal gun related crimes to overall violent crimes is at 8%, same as it was in 1993 according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics. As for fatal gun related crimes, there is a general increase from 2006 to 2016 according to the FBI.

Dude, that did not sound like 130 decibels, though it sounded like there was an echo in the distance, the initial discharge was very quiet. Very cool. Great explanation.

When I hear suppressor, I think of a muzzle break - a flash suppressor.
Me two
Yeah, those things on the end of heavy machine guns that divert the flash out sideways, I thought they were suppressors.
Jeremy Walker
muzzle brakes are flash suppressors but do they help with recoil? i would think because the muzzle blast is going horizontally rather than all sides, it would have more controllable recoil? or is this not how it works
Muzzle brakes are for recoil and for smoke distribution... Some Sims that can reduce flash tho.

Good luck getting one approved using the term suppressor 😂
Thank you very much for your explanation. I was curious on those differences. Now I fully understand. Wishing you good luck all the time.

If he would have said that the main function is not to reduce sound level but muzzle flash to avoid visual identification of the shooter location during night ops, that would have been much more educative for people.
A sincere suppresses sound. A suppressor suppress sound. A Flash hider hides muzzle flash and a bit of sound.

Did you fired a gun with supressor only on your game console??? Throw that stupid game console and get a real life. Games are for kids, not for adults who don't know what to do with their free time.
I still think suppressor sounds better than silencer, when it comes to English I mean
@@nikolanikolovski2138 when one becomes a adult they leave behind what makes them a child this includes being worried of being seen as a child and the notion that something as trivial as a hobby has anything to do with being a adult. Also I don't think most games with semi realistic guns are really suitable for children to begin with.
Pubg ni *_🅱️🅱️_* as : Yo i can’t hear you shooting the gun
The main difference is the spelling of those
I like to use the term suppressor, here's why.
Richard Craver I like your words
Richard Craver
It's a silencer I was right all along hahahahah
Fuck y'all nerds..
M16 is not fully auto its gas operated 3 round burst
I remember that Silencer is the name.
The suppressor is its description.

Very informative video. Most of all the way you describe the things
Are you assuming it's title?
Heard the term Silencer and Suppressor, thought they were just different words for the same thing. Then I heard someone correct someone saying suppressor was the correct term. That confused me cause I thought to myself, "They're different things?" Promptly went looking, as I would actually like to have facts than just what I heard some guy say on the radio who isn't a gun expert. Found myself here and glad I did.
I'll just use my head as a suppressor
Sure you need a vehicle to shoot pick a ford. It won’t run anyway.

The British often refer to them as moderators.
I like it best.
Norman Rindom no we don't 😂 we 'often' refer to them as 'silencers'
Baha! Britished.
Norman Rindom we do I always called it a silencer
Nope, we call them silencers more often than not.
This channel deserves more love.
And I think that both Suppresser and Silencer are same😐😶

How much does subsonic ammo help? Also, is there a video where you actually fire it? I kind of want to hear the difference.
Subsonic doesn't break the sound barrier.
I love the "keep reading" bit because I was about to ask about subsonic ammunition lol.
Silencers silence an amount of sound from the gun. It's not silent. But it does silence. Ergo, silencer.
You can lock the slide if you purchase the aftermarket components for some firearms. While still not silent, it reduces the sound even further albeit at the loss of semiautomatic functionality
I agree I prefer ford trucks over Chevy trucks.
Very well put, and I wish there were more folks pushing this issue. Awesome!
Unfortunately, the issue won’t be pushed until it is a major impact on the economy
The law makers should reference the patent number. That would clear the muddy water.
