@Karl Berg AB Roberts almost has a nationwide monopoly on producing essence, yes. But do they deliver the same essence to all the brewerys? Unlikely.
"The difference between the brands is just the water content" Unlikely because they have different aromas.

Are there more than me that is waiting for august when they try surströmming?
And please, please, please. Dont o it as other try'ist do who just pick it out of the can.
    It is a process.
You need boiled potatoes, chopped chives, crispbread (Leksandsknäcke) salted butter, sourcream, hard aged cheese and fileets of the fish, not whole fish, since you will try it for the first time an you dont want the hassle of "debone" the fish.
Some people want it on soft flatbread and in my opinion they are wrong.
Boil the potatoes and let them cool, slice them in 3-4mm slices.
Chop the chives. mix with sourcream.
Open the can of surströmming can UNDER WATER AND OUTDOORS!!
Use a bucket of water. It contains the smell somewhat and you can rince the filets at the same time.
USE GLOVES. Or even better, use a garbagebag, cut holes for arms and head. Just in case you get a good can that has fermented to near explosion.
    Then assemble.
Crispbread, butter, sliced potatoes, surströmming, a slice of cheese and sourcream/chives.
Have it with cold beer (lager) and maybe a shot of OP Anderssons Aquavit.

As for traditional sweets, we usually go with "ischoklad" ("ice chocolate") which is basically chocolate blended with coconut fat - very nice, melts in your mouth. There's also "knäck", which is chewy or hard butterscotch with (or without for those allergic to nuts) bits of almond. My mom also makes these jelly candies that go back centuries, and chocolate truffles (though not these days due to being old and having diabetes). There's also polkagris ("polka pigs"), and soooo many cookies and pastries.

Coke used to be licensed out to six breweries in 1953(wasn't legal in Sweden until then to sell soft drinks with phosphoric acid and coffin), until only Pripps was left making it. People like to tell a story of how Coke was displeased with the sales numbers over the Christmas season and paint it as the sole reason that Coke and Pripps stopped working together. While it had been a complaint from Coke for years, the biggest reason for the split was that Pripps sold itself to Orkla(a Norwegian conglomerate). Since Coke stopped licensing and started producing for themselves they gave it a big push with advertisement around Christmas which did close to nothing for their sales numbers until they gave in and launched Bjäre Julmust. It was, to putt it nicely, awful and unprofitable.

Yes, It's pronounced Yulmust, like Yul Brenner. You have to try the Alladdin and Paradis choklat boxes, which you can eat all year round, but I think they are in extra high demand around Christmas. I'm not so picky when It comes to julmust. God jul! 🤶

Swedish can be confusing, Christmas and Tire is pronounced the same, spelled different, Jul vs Hjul or Tjära and Kära is pronounced the same, but mean Tar and Dear(like: my dear)/in love
