    Bruce, once again you are the best at your craft my friend. I am so glad you have given the 7a28 a chance to say hello to the watch audiences. It is my most beloved Seiko quartz and a permanent stable in my collection.

    Awesome documentary Bruce thank you!!! I’ve watched this probably 20 times over the last week, anxiously awaiting on my own 7a28-7039 to arrive from NZ. Extremely informative and enjoyable video! This watch screams early 80s style. If I weren’t a kid then, I could see myself wearing this while catching an unbelievable SRV concert 😊

    Great video. I have one of the 7038 models. It has been VERY accurate for over 30 years. Did have it serviced once and have changed out batteries. Used the chrono on mine back when I was in Army helicopters to estimate fuel flow, time /distance nav, etc. It NEVER failed me.

    Awesome vid Bruce!!! A Seiko Chrono equipped with the 7a28 was my first choice when trying to find a birth year watch, they were produced in the early 80s and designating the date of manufacture with Seiko is pretty easy, unfortunately I still haven't found my 1983 yet.

    Great video of one of the best quartz movements ever!!
    I was on a hunt for the RAF (Royal Air Force) Gen I model for years, but they were always out of my reach, because they were specifically made for the British Air Force and issued to pilots, they are very rare and command pretty high prices. I find them to be the best looking 7A28s out there

  • @damieg82

    I have one of these, but in the 2 tone steel and gold with champagne dial and Royal Oak-esque case/bezel. I picked it up about 2 years ago as NOS, in absolute unworn, mint condition with original box, paperwork, everything. Paid $250 for it... I don't think the seller realised exactly what it was... his loss was my gain. It's my favourite watch in my 7 piece all Seiko collection.

    I have the very same watch you featured but with a golden dial and a blue and red tachymeter bezel. I bought the watch in 1987 and paid £160 pounds for it. I later found out that the watch had got reduced to £80 pounds! Hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it!. I wore it quite a bit back in the day but I seem to have bought quite a few watches over the years and it doesn't get much wrist time these days.

    • @markturner3271
      @markturner3271 4 года назад

      These are great watches. I can understand being a bit miffed at loosing out out an £80 price reduction, but have you seen what a decent condition one sells for these days. I recently saw a near "new old stock" 7a28 with the gold face sell for £750.

    I found a 7A28-7030 with a "Pogue" gold dial at a Flea Market. It had an aftermarket bracelet but when the dealer told me he would take $100 cash for it I jumped on it. I probably should have kept it because it was of course very rare, accurate, and attractive but I sold it to a gent from Asia for $299.99. Sorta regret it but I am not a collector currently owning only a Seiko Blumo as my sole watch. Here is the WUS thread I made after snagging it originally with photos. forums.watchuseek.com/f21/6am-flea-market-find-neat-seiko-4154306.html

    You nailed it Bruce! A really unique find that compares with the speedmaster in a more economic way. My own find (if you will) is the SND703. It IS my speedmaster. It's a great quartz chrono, but doesn't compare in overall appearance to this 7A28.

    This is exactly the watch I'm after... 80s fan.
    That model if re-released as 39-41mm, basically same as that, just with a slight enhancement to bracelet/clasp but maintaining its design would sell like hot cakes. I'd be happy to pay up to AU$500 for that new.

      Bruce Williams oh yes you definitely should. He did a quick technical perspective on the same watch on RUclips the day before you. He's not really a youtuber but a watchmaker specialising in vintage Seiko. He's hugely respected and was big on the forums before RUclips and Facebook. What he doesn't know about vintage Seiko isn't worth knowing. Plus if you've an expensive vintage Seiko that needs work he's one of the best.
