  • Welcome to the first-ever conference on Ismaili Studies. This panel, chaired by Simonetta Calderini of the University of Roehampton, reexamines select texts, mostly from the Fatimid da’wa, to provide new insight into the sharing of ideas in medieval Islam. Fârès Gillon works to reconcile the Eastern (Yemeni) da’wa with the Western (Fatimid) da’wa of the tenth century with exciting new evidence. Maria De Cillis explores themes of rationality and humanism in Fatimid da’wa. Omar Alí-de-Unzaga provides insights on Fatimid and post-Fatimid interpretations of the Qur’an and their interactions. Finally, Karim Javan illustrates the proclamation of resurrection in 1164 within the context of religious reformation.
