Makes me cry every time. Powerful thing music.
This 8 minutes of perfection manages to make me as calm and serene as i could ever feel, but at the same time making me feel like my heart and soul have been ripped out.... beautiful music.
delicious comment Simon, you took the words right out of my mouth, like so many enlightened beings from the East
You described it perfectly Simon!
Amen, brother.
@@peterwaters4119 tf is happening 💀
He was homosexual.
The start of the build up at 5:10 reaching it's full glory at 5:29 and continuing until they stop before the softness of the choir comes back gets me every time.
The best part, it's a real goosebumps moment, the harmonies are perfect.
I don't think I have cried to any other song as much as this. Simply beautiful.
Never heard anything more beautiful in my life.
now sit down and listen to lots of J.S.Bach...how about h i s Agnus dei from the H-Moll Mass.....!
I wonder why does it makes me cry like a baby...must be the spirit that inspired the author, God tends to make us go to him with joy for beauty.
It remains me of the Passion of our dear Lord Jesus, the Christ.
I Feel The Same.God is Close To You When You Heard This Music Miracle.
I'll hide you in my heart , there where I can find you ..
Pray for me , so I Can rest in peace .
Very few of us can understand the words - this just goes to show that music is above words. Once while singing in a choir I had a 'Musical Experience" - I lost awareness of my physical being and rose up above the choir by about 10 meters. After a few moments, when my conscious 'monkey mind' noticed what was happening I was instantly back on the risers, singing as per usual. But for that moment I was 'one with the music'. absolutely magical.
Boy's voice is one of the pure things in the world.
When I listen to this music, I feel like I'm close to transcendance. That there's something above me.
Even i am a Muslim, i found out that this choir is just simply breathtaking.. and calming..
+adi daneal Religion has nothing to do here... It's just a cover from Adaggio for String from Samuel Barber
+Alfredo Punzi I know it has nothing to do with religion, my point is I, a muslim enjoy listening to this song. In my country, this type of music is associated with church or Christianity which it is not encouraged in my religion to enjoy..
To be fair its a choral arrangement of Adagio for Strings set to the words of a Latin Mass so to many this particular work has a great deal to do with Catholicism. For me its a stunningly beautiful and haunting work with its religious interpretation or not.
um ur wrong research befor u speak this song is for jesus christ the lamb of god
this is religion. people stained it, but this is the crux of religion...God.
Sounds like a heavenly choir of angels - just breathtakingly beautiful...
Words cannot ever describe the feelings that music may portray and words may divide where music can bring us together, for music is the expression of the heart and the most inner emotions of humans, where we are all not too different in our longing for peace and peace of mind.
This is unbelievably powerful!!
John Appleseed Amen!
I am crying. Every time.
Here it is. The melody of Adagio for Strings in a beautiful choral work.
+Stuart Safford not a surprise, Barber wrote both compositions.
Grazie mille.@@josemanuelruizfernandez7481
i love both Barber's adagio for strings and agnus dei, but when it comes down to it, the choir version is significantly more emotional than the strings, but i still love them both
Sublime.
Brings tears to my eyes every time.
I can hear the glory of God
You mean Yato
Amen
Agnus Dei,
quitollis peccata mundi: miserere nobis.
Agnus Dei,
quitollis peccata mundi: miserere nobis.
Agnus Dei,
quitollis peccata mundi: dona nobis pacem.
I don't get the whole point about how this is sad, lamb is fucking delicious.
Maybe it's the lamb singing
kevin morrison
delicious sufferinɡ
The Lamb is another name for Jesus
Amen
Heavenly. Listen to the whole piece to fall into its depth with all your heart.
samuel barber!!!!!
Kevin Soju ????
look at the title of the youtube video
daym ..i cant express any feeling after this song....its really out of this world...sth magical..sth extraordinary
Kevin Soju Ikr! wow.
A stunning performance by one of the world's greatest choirs of men and boys. I believe they won a grammy for this album.
Possibly the greatest music in history.
This was in Lorenzo's Oil.
Agnus Dei was played when Lorenzo's parents have just received the terrible diagnosis of their young son.
A scene later, Adagio for Strings is played when Lorenzo's dad is reading about the disease.
Both Agnus Dei and Adagio for Strings are so beautiful
💙
I can't get enough with this intoxicating piece! unbelievably mesmerizing!
All the contrary desintoxicating☝️🙂👼!

I sang this in college choir. Listening to this again makes me wish I could go back to those days! Our director turned a shitty choir into an extraordinary one.
This is the most beautiful music ever written and The Choir of New College has given a perfect enactment!
"How easy to be a bird or an animal, living from day to day, unaware you're alive, unaware that one day you will die." Rachel Ward
So beautiful ! God took Barber's hand and guided him through Beauty !
Peace and endless joy listening to this !
This moves me to a beautiful place, where inner and outer unite. Superb!!!!
Just lovely.......perfect....beautiful.....
Gorgeous music....makes me cry and yearn for a higher power's help in our tortured nation
I cannot listen to this song without crying. The power of this song is so moving. It is truly beautiful. Oh, what I would give to see this performed live...
Yes
Very Heavenly!!!🙏🏻👼🏼
The impression sank into my heart .
Impression passed through all my internalorgans and penetrates my soul and plucked the heartstrings strongly.
Unimpeachable performance !
I love music like this so much. I wish all music was this beautiful.
"music is useless, but life would be sad without it", Barbara Streisand
THEY SING DIS IN HEAVEN TO GLORIFY GOD, DAY AND NIGHT FOREVER
+Jesus Christ not the same melody forever........boring
my absolute favourite piece of music ever.
Music should always be this beautiful. This sings right to my soul.
Dawno nie słuchałam niczego aż tak podniosłego. Do tej pory nad wszystkich przedkładałam Bacha, teraz uniosła mnie ta kompozycja i przepiękne wykonanie.
HEAVEN .
upon the sky, the clouds dividing
a very bright light shine from above through the center way of clouds
voices of angels heard and they sing this song
they hail for God comes to earth for mercy
(this is my perspective imagination when 18y old)
Thank yoy DarkLFlow for this post. This is a truly beautiful song. 🤓
Unbelievable power in the opening three phrases. Lone note, then duotronic addition creating a diminished chord and finally a minor progression just to finish stomping your heart into talcum... wow. If there was ever a song worthy of the title Miserere mei, Devs, this is it. I cant think of no better song to encapsulate the horror of the bubonic plague... ;-; They were people and they each had stories... VIVRE AGN SOL
One can barely comprehend the beauty of this in the early hours...its as if I have seen heaven in all of her glory, beyond polarity, limitation and prejudice ..and when you have seen that, you know that the key thing in life is to 'die before you die' , and know there is no such thing as death...I shall trace you in the ether dear 'first mates and mutineers' 🐋
Superior imposible, Majestuoso.
Being an atheist, this music is still incredibly beautiful. The beauty of religion is in things like this, pieces of music, in art, the beauty of it is all in the art. You can't help but to love the beauty. This is a marvelous piece of music, composed by an extraordinary composer. You don't have to be a believer to have respect for the art and music.
+Christian Anderson You weren't named appropriately then really, were you?

Atheists only think they are smart - they are actually stupid.
Don't confuse culture with religion.
after a hard day at work and mug of coffee and Samuel Barbers agnus dai is just about perfect talk about instant unwinding
Agnus Dei and Miserere Mei Deus.
Two great pieces to listen to. They put me at ease when I'm troubled.
***** yes , both pieces can bring complete chills , in a solemn moment , a quiet evening of reflection
AGNUS DEI è meravigliosa
Domine Deus Jesu Christe misere nobi nunc et semper..
I may not be religious, but this is beautiful.
You don't have to be religious to enjoy music you know
Harvey Bower True.
Another comment on the same night I posted... Wow.
Harvey Bower Well, this is awkward, isn't it? ...

Listening to this while I'm browsing for job offers in Graphical Design.
Yup. *That* desperate.
+Quentin Gamache (Quinn-Plays) Not desperate at all. I am in graphic design and print, socal, this song is the business while doing business!

Maybe not where you're from, but in Belgium, it is. :/
+QuinnPlays Well damn in America I think it's a highly respected job, fuck everybody else do what you love I guess
+QuinnPlays Britain just cut the arts budget, I feel your pain. I'm writing my dissertation to this :) the calm before the storm it seems...
+Stephen Mills Britain is cutting and cutting and cutting and in the end the desperate will cut our throats and not the ones of the posh.
Perfeição divina..................................................................................................................................
It's simply unbelievable the voracious ambitious of own insulting amount of money and yet sucks more and more at expense of poverty, ignorance and suffering. RUclips should put all the commercials at the end of master pieces like this!!!
MAGNIFIQUE !!!!

Even greater than the traditional string version.
Beautiful piece, I never really was religious, but it was one of my favourite pieces to sing in choir.
Que maravilhoso som... A beleza do som que nos conecta a Deus.
It is Adagio for Strings with Agnus Dei on top....Brilliant
Agnus Dei Qui Tollis Pecatta Mundi Donna Eis Requiem Sempiternum!
I wish I could demonstrate to all listening to this most exquisitely haunting of melodies, and reading my words, the full measure of the transcendent bliss and the aethereal exhilaration Samuel Barber's Agnus Dei means to and for me.
I have an extraordinarily wide vocal range that enables me to sing all eight registers of the chorus. Whilst at university, a friend who then had been a piano performance major of considerable ability told me that I could sing from the fifth ledger line below the bass clef to the D above high C (and once an A)!
Yes, I even now can voice nearly all this grand piece; just the highest couple of notes.
Unfortunately, I lack the resources to train and to develop my talents (I also aspire to be a novelist) to marketable skills, that I could earn a worthwhile living; and conceivably, actual wealth, which could enable me to facilitate others in their own efforts to enhance their capacity.
You'r not the only one remembering the homeworld and its cut scenes...
Amen.
A little tidbit for those who are curious, Agnus Dei means Lamb of God in Latin.
I knew that
I said: "For those of you who don't know." Clearly, you understand Latin, not English.
+Kornelia McKenzie thx, now i dont have to google it ;)
Rumple No problemo :-)
+Kornelia McKenzie Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) is a choral composition in one movement by Samuel Barber, his own arrangement of his Adagio for Strings (1936). In 1967, he set the Latin words of the liturgical Agnus Dei, a part of the Mass, for mixed chorus with optional organ or piano accompaniment.
Absolutely my all times favorite !
SIMPLY WONDERFUL...
That happens to me often when listening to exquisite performances of Eric Whitactre's music, Frank Martin's, and a few select others. I can watch the cosmos and see the 7 and the 12 tones all working together in the great masterpiece that is the universe.
I have lots of music, but this is the one cd that has been played the moste
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis.
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis.
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, dona nobis pacem.
which means:
Lamb of God, you who take away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us.
Lamb of God, you who take away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us.
Lamb of God, you who take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.
