If you made videos every day I would watch them all! You're doing such a good thing and you obviously love plants so much, it really comes through in your vids.
I have a old pink princess and I have cut a stem into 4 pieces, placed them on wet spagnum moss on their sides, and produced 4 growths from them , then put them around the base of my large pot of the plant and in a year have a thicker more dense plant climbing up 2 totem poles.
Hi Nick! The PPP cuttings you potted are so pretty and look great in the Berg's pot. I love plants with pink in the leaves. It's sad that the PPP are so easy to propagate, but still so expensive. I like the way you put together 3 videos into one. It's always nice seeing updates all together. Thank you so much for sharing!
This is the best video about propagating pink princesses I’ve seen so far on yt. I appreciate the extra effort and details you gave us. The other videos just show how to cut below nodes. Well yes that’s important to know but these are hard to find plants. I need the before, middle and after; thanks so much! Great job!
Fantastic video!! I love that it isn’t broken up into multiple parts. You’ve inspired me to give mine the snip. The last leaf was much smaller than the rest
its 6am and i just cut off 3 arms from my poo princess (thats what we call reverted pink princesses here in Perth Australia haha) fingers crossed i get some more variegation :D thankyou but also goddamnit Nick hahaha
Thank you Nick!!! I want to cut my ppp but I am scared to death to do it. I don't have a lot of success planting propagation. You explained the process so well. I'm going to do it but I think I'll start small.💚💚
Thank you for this video. It's February & I just got a got a Pink Princess in a 3-inch pot. I've never had one before & I'm hoping I don't kill it, lol. I do agree with you about not being that excited about the "half-moon" look. 🙂
I love that you took your time with this video. It answered so many questions and going back to show us how the mother plant was doing really set you apart. Great job!
Hey Nick. I propagated 2 plants almost 6 feet of single node props. I did air layering for 3 weeks before. Put in moss and bagged and they were ready for soil with loads of roots in about 4 weeks. They really responded well with what I did. If ya want to try again sometime with a different method. Your plants are looking gorgeous. Great Video!!🌿🌿💚❤️
@@christinerobinson3622 Hi. I have air layered many times. Also have just cut individual leaves with nodes a put in moss in plastic tubs or plastic bags.
Wow! 😍 Thank you so much for this video. It’s so incredibly helpful. I love that we could see the before and after all in one video. Would you ever considering airlayering? I have gorgeous white princess but like yours it is so leggy down the bottom. I’m just so terrified of cutting it but am thinking that airlayering would make it less scary?
I love the updates/progress on the props and mother plant. I love seeing what happens to the mother plant after propagation, where/how it branches out/springs new growth 💕 I was in a horrible mood before this so thank as always for your videos
In my experience I have not gotten healthy roots at the level below the water because the leca restricts water circulation and oxygen to the roots. I have the best results with just keeping the leca damp or using damp perlite.
I made about a dozen cuttings from a similar philodenron, red emerald. and just stuck them in my planted aquarium. They have all rooted very well in about a month.
Your PPP plants are beautiful. I'm in the UK and bought two very small cuttings for a fair bit of money but they're struggling. At first i had them in sphagnum moss but it dried out so quickly so i just made up a chunky soil mix and threw them in there. They're hanging on for dear life but not giving me much, lol. I'm hoping spring will get them giving me new bigger foliage as the leaves are tiny.
Beautiful! I wish I had that plant(s)! And it looks like you'll get some more from momma plant!!!👏👏 What is the spelling of the pots you like??? Happy growing! Thx for the Vd!!💜
Do you ever use pothos to help root your other cuttings? I've used at least one golden or jade pothos cutting in every jar to improve root production and it's really paid off for my plants
@@chelsea7229 it produces excessive amounts of rooting hormone, so when you put a cutting in a jar with another plant that roots slowly it basically leaks the hormone into the water, essentially feeding it into the other plant causing faster and more vigorous root production. Apparently the same thing happens with spider plant babies but they're susceptible to crown rot if they fall down too far into the container of water
@@chelsea7229 I’m assuming that it got something with sharing rooting hormone. Pothos roots pretty fast, it encourages rooting for the other plants. It works when try to propagate my succulents leaves but I didn’t know it would work with two different plants
when i propped mine over winter, i cut my ppp up into single node props and stuck them in jars with moist perlite (i only added extra water for about an inch at the bottom), then put those in a prop box under a grow light. rooted up well in 3 weeks and started getting new growth a week later ¨̮
Thank you for doing this video! I found it so helpful as I've been wanting to cut my Philodendron grazielae and I didn't really know where to begin. Now I do, so thanks!
Hey Nick, hope this finds you well. Thanks so much for showing the entire process! This was very helpful, need to prop my philo Black cardinal et al. Take good care, beautiful result( and I'm not even sure pp fan...lol
Your video came out at a perfect time. I am going to chop and prop my pink princess. She grows so wonky that I feel the need to try and straighten her out. I’m just really amazed at the length of time it took to get roots! I promised someone a rooted cutting not thinking that it would take months to root. I better get on that soon. It just scares me,I don’t want to mess her up any more than she is. Oh well live and learn I guess. Thank you Nick for your informative video 💚🙃
Thank you so much for making a video like this. I know it takes a lot more time but seen the before and after is worth it. Can you talk more about the poles. Do you water them when you water the plants?
Hey, love your channel! I just have one suggestion I would make it much easier to see what you’re doing for us. I would get some sort of white board, Maybe even just cardboard to stand up behind the plant and provide a contrasting background, because it just gets super confusing to follow what we’re looking at and focus on it because of your busy backgrounds.
Hi Nick! Thanks a bunch for this video-this gave me peace as I had two mature cuttings sitting in water rooting for 4+ months and I was afraid I had waited too long to pot them. Question-you mention giving them a healthy drink immediately after you repot since they’ve been in water for so long. What does the rest of your watering schedule look like over the next few weeks/months? I’ve already rotted mine once and am so afraid to do it again. Thanks for your time 🖤🖤
Hi just started watching your video ,very informative easily explaining step by step...I bought the moss pole from Amazon I was worrying will the bottom wood rot or is it sealed or should I waterproof it ...Thank you
thank you for the video, I'm inspired to cut mine and hope it will throw some pink. Highly disappointed in my supposedly pink, its growing great, just no pink :(
Hey Nick - came here because I'm about to Chop and Prop my two very tall PPP's! Can you link to the Pottery/Planters you mentioned? Would love to check them out.
Helllllllllllllooo. Quick question if you don't mind...I .have never used Leca before but I'm going to give it a try. Is there a specific brand you use and/or recommend or is it more like they are just clay balls, bi**h, stop over-thinking it? I Absolutely adore your videos, especially when you're "juzhing " your plants out of the leca. I have watched this specific video maybe 3 times... bc (drum roll) ...... I FINALLY have my very first Pink Philly (cutting) on the way to my house this very second. I am soooooo excited!!! One last question, how often do you change the water? This video made me fall in love with the Pink Princess. I have a green Philly & he is a such a happy boy. He's growing in an African violet soil.. I'm sure they will be dancing across the ceiling together in no time. 💚💗 I hope you have an amazing 2021. Many Bright Blessings to you.
I can’t decide: moss poll, wooden stake? Every time I watch another plant person’s video, I get more unsure of which is better. 😅 I have a small adansonii and PPP that need staking soon.
I just got a cutting recently and am using moss for rooting. Should I move it to lecca? I know people who use both but really want it to be successful!
Hi Nick! I'm wondering how you feel about these moss poles versus the ones that use sphagnum? I'm just getting into bigger plants that will need poles and I'm hesitant to get these moss ones that won't hold any moisture, I'm not sure how well my rhaphidophora etc will attach without it. I'd love to use these since they're stackable and I haven't found a sphag one with that feature!
Have you noticed any growth from aerial roots into moss poles? I have a red emerald philodendron that I've made about 8 cuttings from and will be making a much bigger pot with most of them added to the mother plant. I thought of a moss pole, but not too keen on the fat pole in the middle of the pot, plus I will need more than 1 I would think. I considered bamboo stakes, but if they really cling to moss poles I might consider it. Do they grow into the pole? seems like it would need to be contantly sprayed.
My PPP is not very variegated ☹️. How do you know when it’s reverting and how do you cut them to try to fix it? Also, how do you cut them when they are too pink? Otherwise, my PPP is very happy even in the winter 🥰.
I feel as though there were maaaaybe too many leaves so the plant couldn't focus all of its energy on rooting? So instead it spent its energy supporting all the leaves, esp. since they are heavily variegated, plus its winter. Which explains why the lower leaf probably fell too. Beautiful plant though! ❤🌱💕
I like that you filmed over the 3 months and put together in one video. Thanks for making all those videos! Love you.
I love how you showed us the progress over time in 1 video instead of just propagating and then leaving us hanging 😅

Yes, my cuttings root well in my aquariums also, the conditions are almost perfect (good water quality, well oxygenated, 78 degrees.)
So stunning 😍 I can't wait to see further progress on this! I also got a Bergs pot for my Verrucosum and it's fab! 🙌

I would have put moss around the tiny aerial roots before cutting then it will grow lots of roots and the cuttings can be put into soil directly.
