tbh i think they get told some info about the televote, and then adjust accordingly to make it more exciting, cos we rarely have anyone win the jury and televote
@@ESCTom interesting. What do you think about the ethics of that? I know it makes for more drama but I think it’s nice for the performer to know that they have the full support of both the public and the jury.
I think the lyrics are very open to interpretation. For me, it reminds me that those we view as "godly" and "saints" and put on pedestals are really just human beings. On one hand, this means that every one of us can make impacts in the lives of others. We can all be kind and just and make change in our world. On another hand, it reminds me that many like Mother Teresa who are painted as "perfect" are also incredibly flawed and we shouldn't forget that reality as well. For me, I see this as a call to action to make change ourselves rather than 1) believing we are incapable of it; and 2) relying on ideas that others will save us just because we're told they are the true leaders.
This is the best song so far for me - I can't really articulate why but I just feel it has the most substance. I would bet on this making the top 5 at minimum.
Absolutely. Ukraine don’t have a conflict with rusia. Rusia wants to take Ukrainian land and destroy it. To destroy foreign sovereign state for its own profit and power. This is not conflict, this is a crime against humanity and civilised world.
Jerry and Alyona are quite popular in Eastern Europe and the Baltic countries, especially among the younger crowd. Especially Jerry because she did quite a few collabs with singers from neighboring countries.

Thank you, Tom for your kind words and your serious approach to Ukrainian Eurovision music. Ireland has been supporting Ukraine really a lot! I was looking exactly for the Irish Eurovision analyst 😊
It could be something lost in translation, but while I can enjoy additional meaning and themes in a religious song, Jerry Heil's songs just feel like there's not much in the song aside from that religious face value, altho it's still well sung and produced. I don't think people watching Eurovision will be as receptive however. Also, last good female rapper we got in Eurovision was last year, Tanita Yankova doing a great job for Vesna in Czechia's entry.
thank you for your high appreciation of the creativity of Ukrainian musicians. I must say that your RUclips channel has the highest quality and most detailed analysis of Eurovision. and most importantly, Ukrainians do not want to fall under the rule of the wild, disgusting country of the Russian Federation. this is a country that constantly violates the customs and laws of war (Georgia 2008, Ukraine 2014-2024, Syria 2015-2024) Help Ukraine with everything you can, since the Russian Federation is a huge evil that is worsening the situation in the European Union with the help of its agents of influence .

I think that Czechia’s song last year had a pretty strong female rapper. Also wrt styling I wouldn’t mind them keeping what they have but adding some embroidery throughout
I think Alyona does fit very well as support in the Jerry sections, and the rap section is also great The RUclips Alyona Alyona has an music video with the lyrics addes in English text
Quick reminder: Lea Sirk - Hvala ne, Slovenia 2018, was 🔥 🔥 🔥 female rapper! Also so happy for Jerry and Alyona Alyona - this song and performance is a hymn, a religious experience almost.
This can win but the staging will need a revamp. Very good song. They will have a much bigger staging. Credit to Ukraine 🇺🇦 for managing to pull this years Vidbir the way they did under the current circumstances.
this song has a very special meanin that we're all just human beings trying to live our ordinary lives while there's a lot of evil around us, if you want a change you should become the change , just like teresa and maria. i don't mind this winning at all!
I love the song it gives me the winner vibes. I love the performance. The only thing I don't love are the lyrics. Whatever they were trying to convey, I just do not get it at. I could happily ignore the lyrics and enjoy the music but I understand ukrainian quite well and it doesn't help. Still a gorgeous song though.
The main message of the song sung in both languages is that all the divines were born as human beings, so it's up to the individuals how they walk their path, up to sainthood. And in the rap part, it's about overcoming the pressure from the society and obstacles, with the support from ancestors being always with us.
As I keep saying I'd have been happy with literally any of the songs so I'm happy. Lol I was wondering when you'd cop on it was about the Virgin Mary 🤣
1:02 Heil in Jerry Heil is pronounced like “hail”, Wiwibloggs are doing it wrong :( also, in Alyona, there is no “j” sound after l. yo is pronounced like u in “burn” so she is “alɜːna” Hope that helps! ❤
Дякую за підтримку, друже! This is a no-brainer Tom Quality, quality, QUALITY!! Ukraine delivers again This is the 1st confirmed act this season that i genuinely get "winners vibes" from This is great now but come Malmö and this will elevate even more...guaranteed!! Well done Jerry Heil and Alyona Alyona 🥂👏 Ps. Tom have you forgotten the revamp that "Tick Tock" got? My word, the original version was horrendous. Went on a Hovi Star level of revamp! 😉😉
omg yes thats true!!!! that has to be in the top 10 revamps of all time! I had deleted that old version completely from my memory, its better that way!
Ukraine are coming for the win again 💙💛 Ireland and Sweden better watch out because I feel Ukraine will have 7 wins too before we know it 😂😅 I adore this song, this is such a strong year already 🫶
Pronunciation wise, I think Jerry Heil pronounced like "Hayl". but I've heard both versions used. As a Ukr. 3D artist I wish they'd go beyond the standard cloth and hand animations. To me the graphics feel too basic / rushed. I hope for a better revamp, at the moment the stage screen is kind of random. But the rest OMG, love it
I am less than enthused by this entry and I say it with regret as I am usually a big fan of Ukraine. My problem is that the two sides of the song never come together and they don't really come alive. Perhaps they will revamp it?
i do think that if there is a revamp, it will harmonise them together more at the end. honestly i think if they did that the songs winning chances would increase even more. also i think it would address the issue i had of explaining to the audience why are they there together
She was given a lot of backs on the monitors, like we are on the TV. In the recording from the phones and on Hit FM, she sings Yana beautifully. Yanna's name is Jerri Hale
@@lyudmila12 Yeah I also noticed on some phone videos I've seen that her vocals sound better. In particular they're better separated from the backing track.
I like it but I think more so because it's from Ukraine and for me it's about the tough people it needs to live in a country ravaged by war, the belive/faith that you need to have and two strong women (or at least the stories/belives sorounding them) in Theresa and Maria. I think I wouldn't appreciate it so much coming from another country though.
You're actually getting the idea of this song right. It is about womanhood, feminism, uniting and helping others. Maria and Teresa used here only as symbols
Love the song, Ukraine being so so strong in Eurovision yet again. Personally, I feel like the rap portion somewhat breaks the mood of the song a small bit too much, its an amazing rap verse - but idk it doesnt flow well within this song for me so i think it brings it down a little bit to "not a winner" but deffffooo still very high up in the ranks. I think if they had shortened the tap portion, maybe incorporating some vocalising or music from the other sections into it, and then make the ending a bit more of a climax itd be literally perfect
Cool outcome, but I hope Vidbir stops using the ranked points system. When Jerry Heil and Alyona Alyona's televote numbers blow everyone else out of the water, they shouldn't end up with one more point than the next person! 💙💛
yea i totally agree. its pretty fucked up that the jury could have had the same amout of power as 600,000 votes just by putting them 1 rank lower and therefor giving 1 less point
I love Jerry's voice, it's quite religious-sounding in a way and her styling in the black jacket and black skirt reminds me of the Orthodox black robe that priests and nuns wear. I think that Jerry just needs some subtle Ukrainian elements in her hair and Alyona needs to be at the back with the backup singers - Jerry is fine by herself at the front, she has a very powerful presence.
This will obviously get close to winning because the refugees around Europe will carry at least 150 points on its own for the televote. Song is decent I can’t lie but I’m rooting for Tim Tim tagi dim. It is the one for me now. It’s kaarija mark 2. Croatia for me followed by Ukraine.
Hey Tom, you're pronouncing the y in Alyona in the wrong spot, you're saying it as if it was AlonYa instead of AlYona. Plenty of time to get used to it till may ;)
It was Jamala who said there shouldn't be religious stuff at ESC, and that this song at least partly is. And IMO she's right. Alyonas rap part has great lyrics that fit the "female empowerment" part, but the other stuff... not so much. Especially referencing mother Teresa who is a controversial figure and in reality seemed to be everything but a good rolemodel is... not great. Some of the images used like the hand reaching down from above isn't exactly non-religious either, especially given the rest. But I guess for people who don't gave my bad history with religion, it wouldn't even be noticeable.
I think the religious content absolutely must be viewed with account of the war to be really understood. It's in no way "preaching the word" and more... looking back to everything they've got, to find symbols for faith and reasons for optimism, despite all.
Дякую за змістовний,та детальний коментар.

@@ESCTom oh trust me.... mostly white people know how horrible she is but they intentionally ignore it like most other horrible white "greats" *cough* ch*rchill *cough*
I think that Czechia’s song last year had a pretty strong female rapper. Also wrt styling I wouldn’t mind them keeping what they have but adding some embroidery throughout
this also feels anthemic. combined with some rap, making it a bit similar to Stefania, albeit less hip-hop.
She's Heil , like "Hey l"
Correct! 👍
I think Alyona does fit very well as support in the Jerry sections, and the rap section is also great
The RUclips Alyona Alyona has an music video with the lyrics addes in English text
Thanks ❤
Should we also become a horrible human being like ter*sa ??
Thank you very much for your reaction and opinion! It is important for Ukraine
💙💛
I'm not sure this will win but it's a definite top 10 song.
Eurovision 2024 : Mustii pour la Belgium
la chanson sera révélée le 20 février !
❤❤❤
One of the most interesting review, thanks. Actually I didn’t like staging, I hope girls will change that
1:02 Heil in Jerry Heil is pronounced like “hail”, Wiwibloggs are doing it wrong :(
also, in Alyona, there is no “j” sound after l. yo is pronounced like u in “burn” so she is “alɜːna”
Hope that helps! ❤
ah thanks, so it's kind of like "AL-YUN-AH"?
@@ESCTom it’s more like ah-learn-a, but without r. in german transcription her name would be alöna bc yo is just a softer o, just like ö is.

PLEASE Do Supernova next since final is in 4 Days.
ive recorded it this morning so if the copyright isnt too bad, it should be up tomorrow
@@ESCTom Yeeees!
After Norway massively screwed up with their choice, this is my new fave to win!
😊❤😊❤😊❤😊
She says Hail
This is a no-brainer Tom
Quality, quality, QUALITY!!
Ukraine delivers again
This is the 1st confirmed act this season that i genuinely get "winners vibes" from
This is great now but come Malmö and this will elevate even more...guaranteed!!
Well done Jerry Heil and Alyona Alyona
🥂👏
Ps.
@ESCTom absolutely!
🙈🙈😱
Ukraine are coming for the win again 💙💛
Ireland and Sweden better watch out because I feel Ukraine will have 7 wins too before we know it 😂😅
I adore this song, this is such a strong year already 🫶
Ukraine are definitely getting 8 before Ireland get 8 😭
@@ESCTom as an Irish I want to cry because it's so true! 😂🤣🥲
At this stage feels 3-5 to me but not a winner...
But the rest OMG, love it
She herself says hail so that's got to be the right version)
It's actually H-ei-l, that rhymes with mail))
Awesome Ukraine :) Time for some girl power to win :)
🩵💛 super
I think that Jerry just needs some subtle Ukrainian elements in her hair and Alyona needs to be at the back with the backup singers - Jerry is fine by herself at the front, she has a very powerful presence.
oh i love the idea of some ornamentation in her hair
Ukraine winners Eurovision 2024 🇺🇦. Song 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇❤️❤️❤️❤️🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
It's Jerry HAIL. Like hail a cab.
ive literally got 5 other people telling me its Heil 😵💫
This will obviously get close to winning because the refugees around Europe will carry at least 150 points on its own for the televote.
Song is decent I can’t lie but I’m rooting for Tim Tim tagi dim. It is the one for me now. It’s kaarija mark 2.
Croatia for me followed by Ukraine.
Hey Tom, you're pronouncing the y in Alyona in the wrong spot, you're saying it as if it was AlonYa instead of AlYona. Plenty of time to get used to it till may ;)
💙💛
🤝🏻
Their names are pronounced like [heil] & [a'ljona a'ljona].
Ukraine could send a 3 min fart sound and still top the charts.
I am kinda sick of that hype. This is a song contest, not a United Nations assembly.
@@christinayuditski6854 yeah right. God forbid I say something against Ukraine, hit me with labels immediately 🤣
