The locktite is applied to the barrel as a seal. With the loctite around the barrel there won't be any powder residue getting between the barrel and brake. Insurance against any corrosion taking place.
Just put one of these on a similar profile rifle- a Tikka T3 lite Compact in .308. I didn't the recoil was that bad without it until I shot with the brake on. Holy sh!@- huge difference. I can't wait to shoot it again. The Witt brake is no joke- it does what it says it will. Thanks for the video!
I just got one from Witt Machines. I got it in a week and I guess my measurement wasn’t accurate, I couldn’t get it seat all the way in... I called and was told if I wanna try using coin to ply opening to have it fit. I told the lady on the phone that I’d rather have it machined right so I’d like replacement.. she told me to just send it back so I did. I had the new one with new measurement delivered in a week and it was perfect. I am doing other works on my rifle so I haven’t fired but it looks very promising and I don’t think there will be any problem. It is Winchester Model 70 featherweight 30-06 that kicks hard.. with Devcon bedding on action and pillar post, I am hoping I’ll have a nice light weight carry gun.
I have the mod 70 in 300 Remington ultra mag. It kicks like a mule ordered a brake from Witt feb 1st still not here but they were in the Texas snow storm shutdown.that was about 2weeks. By the way they moved from Colorado the Texas because our state is easier on the gun laws.
BE SURE that your muzzle measurements are exact and correct. They make your muzzle brake according to your exact measurements. Its imperative that your measurements are exact and not just close. I tightened my bolts just a hair beyond what was suggest to be sure my muzzle brake doesn't come loose. Most muzzle brakes come loose and fly off is because they are not correctly tightened, or else, the muzzle was incorrectly measured so the muzzle brake cannot tighten down enough. In my opinion, Witt Machine muzzle brake is the best muzzle brake on the market today. The reduced recoil is phenomenal! If you have any doubts about your ability to correctly measure your barrel, or install your muzzle brake, then ask an experienced person to help you. When you get your Witt Machined Muzzle Brake, you'll find that the muzzle barrel bore of the muzzle brake will measure a hair larger than the rifle barrel bore. This is purposely done because the muzzle brake is made to redirect gases and not to interact with the bullet.
Before shots: 0:200:350:48 and 11:37 (adjusted slightly before so you can get focused) After shots: 10:5311:1111:2811:44 You can absolutely see a change in the way the rifle recoils most notably in the hop up from the table. Reward recoil seems to be reduced some. I imagine it feels physically different as well.
Great video, Read some of the comments about it being louder, Now you need ear plugs, Everybody that shoots or around shooting should drop some plugs in, While hunting or plinking!!!!
Be sure to triple check your measurements because they manufacture your muzzle brake precisely to your measurements. Witt didn't charge me anything extra for the blued coating. The lock tight acts as a seal securing the screws and barrel. Be sure to have a millimeter set of Allan wrenches handy for installing the screws. I firmly secure the screws into place by hand. I'm just careful not to strip out any threads. When shooting at the range, I use a combination of foam ear plugs and electronic ear muffs. In the field, I use electronic ear muffs. I'm comfortable with wearing them on my head so I can easily and quickly slip them down over my ears before shooting. Its just a natural part of setting up for a shot. If you're still on the fence about buying a muzzle brake, I've found them well worth the money. You'll be shooting your favorite large caliber rifle well into your 70's and 80's.
Looking to add this to my vanguard 300 win mag. Looks like I just need to get a micrometer. 👍 shoots good but this looks better /w quality. I’ll support an American machinist ! I was a welder in my early 20,s change of trade 🚒 thanks 4 video. 🇺🇸
I also have a 308 1500 and am considering one of the thread adapters instead of the full brake. Mine shows .610 od in both spots though. I would also loctite the screws too

How much weight to the muzzle does it add, and does the rifle feel "out of balance" because of the additional weight of the brake...??? At the end of the video, when you did the comparison shoot, I didn't notice any discernible difference in noise, but that's video, brakes usually increase noise to the side, was there much of a difference in noise with the brake installed...???

My question would be for Witt Machine more so the you, but I will ask it anyway. I only ask because I would like feedback from you and others here. When you installed the break any idea of the room temperature at the time? For example if it was a very hot day and the shop was around lets say 90 degrees then you take this out in the sub 30 degree winter and the barrel contracts ever so slightly would it not come loose? Do you think it would make more sense to install it in the cold that way when it warms up it would only get tighter. Or is the steel to strong to contract and expand in heat and cold. Just curious.
imbrian100 I'm no expert, but I think if you encountered cold temperatures cold enough to shrink the barrel away from the muzzle break, I'd be more concerned about the projectile lodging.
Yes but almost certainly at different rates, called the coefficient of thermal expansion. Each material (every material) will have it's own coefficient.
It's recommend in the instructions. Anything negative I found in reviews was people who didn't use the Loctite and it came loose and became a projectile.
That was a great video! this is pretty much exactly what i've been looking for, Thanks! But do you think this was worth the extra $100 honestly? I am debating about getting one and I didn't see a big difference in the recoil, but I wasn't the one shooting either. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!
Charles Hathcock . I'd say it's definitely worth it. If you follow Witt machine in Facebook they post deals fairly often. 25% off on holidays, I think they have 15% off for shot show right now. I'd say it reduced felt recoil by over 50%. I'm very happy with it and will be ordering another for my new savage
try to shoot 225 gn bullet on 300 win mag with..... and than without ... you will never go back ( 10 shot was my max before installing the Witt machine.. and my shoulder was gone for 2 days.. ) now I shoot 50 in a row... no problem..

I haven't tested velocity. I've found it more accurate or easier for hits at 960yds. Maybe I'm just gaining experience, but I have found it to be very good
The only problem with Witt machine is their attitude on the phone not very business like. I ordered a custom clamp on adapter and a muzzle break, they sent the brake ,but no adapter. They said they had it made but it didn’t meet their specs and would have to be remade. Well a month later no part sent. I called again they said I could wait 2 weeks or get my money back, I decided to wait . Still no adapter. They come up with excuses, from the CNC is down. Update called Thursday 4/1 /21 they still didn’t have it, 4/1/21 got an email it had been shipped. Now I’m waiting on the post office to get off their keister and get it to me. Putting it on Winchester chambered in Remington 300 ultra mag. This thing will kill your arm with 3 shots.
Poor communications , never reply to email . Got the Clamp in Muzzle Brake finally , measurements were accurate , installation was piece of cake , was very excited till I tried on the range . Recoil is 40% down but no accuracy . Shooting all over the place .Removed the MB and it started shooting the usual grouping . For me, it worked for recoil but didn’t work for accuracy
+Wesley Pipelayer None whatsoever. I've put around 100 rounds through it and I'm very happy. Definately helped with recoil and allowing me to follow bullet trace.
I tried to get a muzzle break from witt machine. They sent 1, and it had to big of an inside diameter to bolt on. I contacted them, and after several calls over 6 months,(and several promises it was ready to ship) I never got a replacement muzzle break. As of now, I don't believe I was ever given a refund either. Visa said they could not help me get my money, since the purchase was over 6 months old.
