    Jason for me is the greatest of all time. I got to see the DLR tour and sadly Jason was unable to tour and I missed my chance to see him. Perpetual burn is my favorite album, any genre of music. I've told my wife that I want Altitudes played at my memorial service!!!

    This is the single most important instrumental guitar album in my life. I was 14 when this came out and it changed my life. I had already been influenced by the likes of George Lynch, Randy Rhoads, Jake E. Lee, and Yngwie Malmsteen. But when I heard Jason Becker something just changed for me. I began playing guitar that same year and, 36 years later, I still play but I’m nowhere near Jason’s capabilities. I had gone on to win guitar contests, battle of the bands contests in which I wrote all the music, toured with some semi big names in the rock world, sold music to major sports organizations, and taught for several years. I’ve had people compliment me with saying they can hear Jason Becker’s influence in my playing which is the highest compliment for me. But I know…I know I’m a shadow to what Jason is and I will always hold Jason in the highest regards. I once wrote a letter to him about 25 years ago. I received a reply from his mother and she said that my kind hearted letter made her and Jason cry. I have known friends with this debilitating disease and it’s just simply not fair. I love ya Jason thank you for all of your musical contributions. You inspire so many people to this day brother!

    I did the same thing as you did. I bought Jasons complete collection including 2 DVDs. To support him. So sad that within 10 years. Jason and Randy Rhoads careers would be derailed.

    Thanks Lick Library and Sam. Awesome content. It’s pretty cool for me cause although I’ve always known about him and respect his amazing abilities I’ve never dug deep or really focused on anything and this will be a great opportunity to take a better look and practice some of his ideas. He also played without string muting devices and it’s just raw. That is rare now too in a world where people maybe take advantage of using things to save them having to worry about their technique being right

    He is definitely one of a kind. There's lots of great guitar players out there, but few can deliver such satisfying tasty licks.

    I know its a bit of a cliche, but I still wonder to this day what he could have gone on to do. I am old enough to have been around before and during the Shrapnel Shred years and he was the most technical of them all, no contest. It was great to have been around in those days, just so many great players coming at you all the time. Guess the market became a bit over saturated by the end of the decade, and then Grunge just killed the guitar solo after that.....

      Did you catch any of his shows?

    • @GordonHeaney

      @@licklibrary Sadly not, I am from Scotland and not many of the shredders came this way. I've seen Paul Gilbert, Joe Satriani, Marty Friedman 5 times, Michael Angelo at a clinic (guitar one, not that type), Yngwie, John Petrucci.....but never Jason sadly

    6:30 Well, Paul Gilbert was doing similar sweeps in Racer X in 1986 - and Michael Angelo was too. No disrespect to Jason, he was the best at it IMO

    • @licklibrary

      Both incredible players who have their own technique for sure!

    • @GordonHeaney
      @GordonHeaney Год назад

      @@licklibrary Absolutely, just meant that Paul was doing the 6 string sweeps before Jason officially recorded anything, as was Michael Angelo. Just sayin'!

    • @cc_1983
      @cc_1983 Год назад

      Gilbert admits he prefers strong skipping and arpeggios compared to straight up sweeping so no doubt Jason was probably the best at it but Paul was no slouch!
