I had purchased a rivet press a couple years ago from Amazon. The store is no longer in business and i can't find the dies to fit. So for Christmas this year my husband bought me a rivet press bundle from kamsnaps. Under ever video Jess oklaroots puts out, she has a link to the bundle with a 15% off coupon. So if anyone wants different kinds of dies such as the rivet die, magnetic snaps, plastic snaps, key fob die, metal snaps die, etc it's sooooo worth it! I use every one of them that comes in the bundle! Thank you Nicole for this video on the rivet sizes... That was super helpful
I just got my press from Kamsnaps today and I’m happy I bought the Oklaroots bundle. I am hoping that it was worth it to purchase your review has eased my nerves. Thanks!
Thanks so much for all the information on Rivets. I didn't know what was needed & how to go about putting rivets on, but you have filled me in perfectly. I'm really a sewer & make t-shirts and I've seen that they put small rivets on neckband now, and they look great. Thanks again. Pauline 😊
Another great video. Thank you. I love my rivet press from Kam Snaps. This company works great for me because quick shipping and lots of help if needed.
Thank you for sharing your tips with the rivets. I have had several failures because I was using the wrong rivet size where the rivet bends over to one side and sits skew and off center. I find if a rivet is hard to remove, say I need to remove and old rivet to repair a strap or replace the metal loops and hardware, then I use two methods. First method is I use a hand drill to drill the rivet out from one side and remove the rivet with pliers. The second method is to get a pair of wire cutters or larger removal nail pliers (the plier you use to lever and remove nails from timber). Use the pliers under the head of the rivet. Clip the head off the rivet and remove the remaining rivet stem that way. Cheers.
I have started working in latex garments and harnesses and found the world of rivets so so confusing. So glad I found your video here it has helped me immensely. Thank you.
Thank you for this video! It came out at a most opportune moment. I have been on the fence about buying a press mainly because of the confusion about all the dies. This helped tremendously. Thank you again!
Thank you for your straightforward approach and opinion on sourcing rivets and hardware. I price shop and use many resources also and for the most part been completely satisfied. Some projects just don’t require high end, expensive hardware. Really enjoy your videos 😊
Chicago Screws. You can get them with 1/8” opening. I prefer the open back ones, they will tighten up more. You can add a drop of Elmers glue or blue loctite to keep from loosing, just don’t use red loctite if you ever won’t to remove it. Good video. If you can’t find 1/8” try ordering from Tandy Leather.
I'm pretty new to bag making and I love the cork fabric. You are the only one I see on RUclips that only sews with cork and I like that. I have learned a lot from you. I really enjoyed this info on rivets.
Thanks so much! I am kind of new to bag making, have mostly used cottons but have a 2nd machine that I got for sewing marine vinyl and heavy canvas for my boat so it will definitely do cork and faux leathers, etc. So, I do want to get into rivets. I have the Kamsnap press already for plastic snaps - I got the press that can also take all the other dies but have been hesitant because it seems like you need so MANY die sets. I am going to follow your example and try working with just one larger size of die. Really good explanation on everything, very helpful! Thanks so much!
okay, i been peeking at rivets, and i want to use them to step up my tote bag making. i am very interested in this! great video sweetie! i like this! TO THE AMAZON! GOO!!! LOL!
Great vlog thank you! I am just venturing into the world of snaps, rivets and eyelets etc as an alternative to buttons in my dressmaking. This was really helpful as there is sooooo much to learn. Ruth x
I have to tell you! I made your Tall wallet! Now I am sorry but I didn't buy the pattern. I just had to try it and at the time I didn't have the money to buy it. I have made 3 of them so far. Out of faux leather, and canvas . Not a good combo for this wallet. My last one I made from all cork! And it isn't perfect! But it is really nice! The problem I had is with the timing. The rest is fine! I did buy the Triskele pattern. I am sitting trying to figure it out. Anyway I just wanted to say that I watch your tutorials whenever I can. You are a really great teacher! And I want to thank you!
When I have a hard to get punch, I use a Japanese hole punch. Im always confused over ordering rivets. They usually say 8mm, for ex. I always took that for cap. But I have 2 different 8mm with different posts sizes. But the post size isn’t given. But what you’ve had to say was a big help to me.
This was perfect. I have that same press because my daughter had it and gave it to me and I wasn’t sure if I could use the same die for multiple sizes of rivets. I didn’t know you could also interchange the top and bottom rivet size. I have a nine die have as well, and this clears a lot up. I haven’t found any tutorials that explain this. how the dies/rivets work like on this particular press, gold star has good tutorials but not really the application. thank you !
Very helpful, Nicole. For rivet removal I use a pair of medium wire cutters. The sharp edges with bevel go under the set rivet pretty easily and the medium cutters give good leverage to cut the post. FYI, RUclips pushed a minimum of 12 commercials at me while trying to watch your video. Very aggressive move to try to force paid subscriptions, which I refuse to give in to. But they are making watching your videos pretty frustrating, especially the ones you cannot click skip on.
I also have good luck removing with wire cutters. I wonder why your getting commercials. I never get any ads/commercials when watching Nicole’s videos…
Excellent video! I have made bags but never used rivets. When I decided I needed to learn how to make custom jeans, that is where I first experimented with rivets. Some turned out good and some didn’t. I really struggle with the jeans style nipple rivets installation as well as where to source more. Thanks again for the education. ❤
Thank you for your video. Yours was the first video I’ve found clear and useful. Unfortunately living in Australia I’ve found it difficult to find where to purchase the dies for snaps to fit the bench press. I have always used the hand held for my purses and bags and recently purchased the bench one on line.
Ah-I was so confused at about 39.75 minutes when I thought you said “and you can hear it snap incorrectly” when what you really said (and meant) was “you can hear it snap in…correctly”. Ah, when you can see the bright light of clarity 😎 Great video. Thanks for not falling prey to fill-in banter which can take up a huge amt of unnecessary time. And thanks for your large and descriptive vocabulary. Cork on!
Omg I love your bags out of all the bags I’ve seen on so many other tutorials you do amazing work, thank you for this tutorial because I’m just beginning bags and rivets I’m unsure about but I have the cam shaft I need to get more dyes where do I get those? If you can tell me how or the link if possible I’d greatly appreciate it and I’ll check your page out for where you sell because I seriously love the bags you make my style! ❤
Hi, My name is Gayle and I've been watching your RUclips/tutorial on rivits. I am curious about the press. I have presses I believe are for grommets. I also make corsets. Will rivit dies still work in this press?? Thank you so much. I'm really confused.
As long as you buy rivet dies that fit your press you’ll be able to install rivets. I suggest emailing the maker of your press and asking them for help since each company uses different die sets.
@@SewGnar Thanks for your reply. Are you able to tell me how much of each of the 3 cork fabrics I would need to order for the Cami. I have asked Joy and she told me to contact you as she doesn't work with cork. I would make the straps and crossbody one from one of the fabrics. Thanks so much!
@@stephparkes100 For an example and because I know fabric funhouse measurements, you’d need an XS of your front pocket print, and to be safe two large sizes to ensure you have enough (and surely you’ll have leftover as well)

Nope!

I have no clue what to buy… i tried buying from yur links and nothing made sense.. there is NO 9mm double sided caps on that link
The link that is in the description is for the press itself, and I purchased the die set to use 9mm rivets, which are then purchased separately.
