Andre played the Talkstar on my new record and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Great to see the mechanics behind why it sounds so great!! Choose Talkstar 🔥
Thank you Andre for kindly reviewing all these units for us talkbox/vocoder freaks!! Amazing sounds that take us back to oldschool funk music era👍👍😎👊Lovin your supreme talkboxing skills👍👍🤟
I use a Crate Powerblock as an amp and a Pyramid TWD60X 400W driver. I tried the MXR out of convenience but didn't like the response. I think it has overload protection on it so it can't be driven as hard. I went back to Powerblock after that. Having separate amp and driver combos gives you a lot more control. I'll have to try the Talkstar someday. Byron seems to like it.
Andre is totaly right. The Talkstar is the V12 of all Talkboxes. But the MXR is still much better than the Rocktron. I didn't have that crazy "Rocktron noise" on the MXR. The MXR sounds very clean....in my case.... but it didn't have the power of the Talkstar. Thats for the lower sounds a real Problem. For people with less money... or for beginners the MXR is the Deal. The banshee sucks. It Sound always distorted... no power... this very loud noise....and when you use the original Tube of the Rocktron you always have this chemical smell at it. With the Talkstar is everything perfect. The amp...the driver ... all those controls ... the Light Gimmick.... the sound of the Talkstar is still untouchable.
The Talkstar is a very well made, sounding talk-box. I’ve heard quite a few users use it and in the right hands it can sound really good. I think the 20 watts of power it produces seems to be enough for the 100 watt driver but I wonder what the driver would produce at 100 watts? So, far I have nothing bad or negative to say about it. It was and is very well made.⭐️⭐️🫵🏼⭐️⭐️ Mister Groove likes it👍
The legendary Mister Groove approval is amazing!! Thank you sir!! And to answer your question about power, I'm sure you know at some point you can produce just way too much synth tone to blend with the articulations from your mouth to make words - our 30W max amp is more than enough power and using a 100W driver means you'll NEVER blow it up - that baby is cruisin' !!!!!!! Cheers from TalkStar!!!
