I dont know what it is about doing a triptych but they always give me trouble. I feel like Goldilocks trying to get a good consistency with my white paint. Not to mention the fact that i spilled it everywhere twice LOL. I felt like mixing my own colors today, i was tired of the straight tube colors. I will definitely being do this more often now.

Colors: please see the video, it is discussed in the beginning
White base coat: half house paint mixture, half acrylic plus water for consistency
House paint mixture: semi gloss house paint, floetrol, gac 800, gloss medium and varnish (one product from Jerrys artarama)
40/40/10/10%
PM: floetrol/gloss medium and varnish/ gac800; 80%/10%/10% Mixed in a 1pt paint, 2 parts PM plus water.

I dont know why triptychs always give me so much trouble! I loved the colors I mixed together. I am going to do this more often for sure, I get tired of regular tube colors! There are so many possibilities! Hope you guys like it!

MOLLY'S ARTISTRY I feel that the reason why triptychs cause you so much frustration and trouble, is because, you want it to come out perfect, and also that you want it to be consistent, but I've learned that no matter what your painting and or creating, the most important thing to remember is to ALWAYS have fun when being creative and expressing yourself, worry about the composition and the structure of the painting later after the piece is completed! And even then after it's completed, be content and happy with what has been created, every mistake that has occurred in a painting was mean to be there for a reason, to either teach us a lesson or to encourage us to continue with what we are passionate about! Peace, love and you guys be safe there!

I mix my own. I like adding silver to other colors bc it gives it a neat shine look to them. I love watching all of you other artists on here. Helps me when I struggle and think I’m the only one having trouble.
Yes, I pike adding gold as well to some of the colors, greens, blues and reds because of its luster! I will have to try adding silver, thank you!
It's beautiful! I mix my paint colors, too. The big problem is, knowing when to quit, just walk away and be satisfied that it can't get any better, lol!

I LOVE This Molly!, and yes, I mix my own paints, I use Glidden interior flat, my best results since using it, I love the cells and lacing. It's unique, creating my own style. Still having FUN! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

this is simply stunning!
You know this reminds me of last nights conversation. I was drawing and working away at an art piece with a face coming out of a old mouldy brick wall and another side leaves. So I said "Well she is finally coming together well. The eye are not right. One is higher than the other." He turned to his friend and says. " See she does this art and everyone says ""oh this is beautiful"" and she points out what is wrong. Yet I look at it as an art piece not ""oh you did that part wrong" I look at it as a whole and it is really pretty."" Perhaps that may help you here. I am my worse critic and from where I am looking at this I see a beautiful piece of art. Love the colour combo even if you had issues. Art is a way to express yourself. That being said art is also very finicky. No matter how much we try to get the image out of our heads and on canvas or a sketchpad it does not always interpret well to us. Yet others will see how amazing it is. This is just a perfect example of this. I love your honesty, the way you create your work. Kudos to another beautiful painting.

I love watching your process. I am new to this and need to get more comfortable troubleshooting when things don’t flow the way I intended. I mix my own colors often, mostly due to necessity because my supplies are limited-but i do find that i go through more paint trying to achieve the exact shade of whatever is in my head-which is fine, i just save excess for future. Again-thanks for being so generous in sharing your process!

I did watercolors for 25 years. Needless to way how I love mixing my colors. The only difference: it takes much longer to mix acrylic. But I have been following you for 3 months now and you inspire me greatly. Thank you for that and keep doing those triptych, you are getting so good... 🙋🏻 💕

This is beautiful. I appreciated that you did not hide what you needed to fix, AND showed us how. That is always part of learning. I seem to have problems with spilling and silly things, and am glad to know that you, as a seasoned artist, has the same things happen as me. I do not feel so bad now lol.

They came out beautiful! Now I don't feel so bad for spilling paint lol I have done it a few times with painting on my canvas and painting my walls in my house, I spilled paint on my carpet.

I love watching Olga Soby but i relate to your because your messy like me! haha paint everywhere, even hairdryer! I use a cheap $1 plastic shower curtain as a table cover, it so easy to scrape off excess paint *which i collect and put in a bottle, which is usually brown or darker colors once mixed together.. but waste not want not... Johns wife

👋 Molly . Very pretty piece today sometimes having to work for it shows people it’s not just throwing some paint on we do have to work for a good result.
My favourite colour combo is Primary Red, dash of Prussian Blue and a drop of black . Makes a what I call Black Doris Plum. I use it in my Filp and Lip pours.
