In this carburetors you can get away with blocking the 2 passages that feed fuel from the power valve and the vacum passage that activates the power valve. You will suffer no loss of power and will gain 3 or 4 MPG . That's if fuel efficiency is your goal.

      @@MikesCarburetor you should try it.
If you're not towing or racing you'll never know the difference.
I got tired of replacing power valves because they were always leaking trough the vacum port into the intake.
Maybe because I was using cheap Chinese replacements.
I plugged the ports using soft lead and haven't had any problems since.
I did that on my daily driver 73 f100 360 FE.
I put a t5 tranny out of a 92 mustang with an adapter plate and now after I modded the carburetor I'm getting about 20 mpg in the city and about 25 hwy.
I also removed the heavy spring from my distribuitor and that made it a lot more snappy. If it breaks it breaks.

I would like to do it ! but i don’t know exactly how to ( not sure about the location of such holes

@@marcopaniccia7703 remove the power valve and you will see 3 holes. Put a tiny piece of lead on each one of them and drive it in there with a punch and a hammer. Put you power valve back and tou are all set.
You will never have to worry about your power valve leaking gas straight into your intake.

Hi Mike, I have a 1978 Ranchero 400 with C6 auto, fitted with a Motorcraft 2150 carburetor that does not have an i.d. tag,
Is there any way you can tell me what the Ford tag i.d. should say, something like
    D8OE-HA or similar ?
I want to know what power valve and jet sizes should be for this engine.
The carb has a label on the airhorn cover that says " factory rebuilt carburetors" with a stylised blue rectangle around the perimeter that "could" represent a T J logo....
any ideas or help appreciated, many thanks!

My 78 Farimont for sure is sporting a 2150, but I'm starting to wonder if over time a shop or something put "what they had on the shelf" on this car as a replacement rather than a proper replacement. The ID tag says Top Row: D KE DA, Bottom Row B 8A 12. Cross referencing that to your rebuild chart on your website, as well as my Chilton's Manual I have for the car, I don't see anything that looks like D8KE-DA. Maybe I'm not thinking about this right?

@@MikesCarburetor well what I listed out was the carburetor tag. And I didn't see anything of the sort through both charts as I mentioned. I'd love to send a picture of it to you, maybe I'm not decoding the carburetor tag correctly.

@@MikesCarburetor Perfect! So then reading back through the whole conversation here top to bottom, that would confirm my hypothesis that somewhere along the line someone put a 2150 on the car that wasn't specific to what they would have put on at the factory with the Fairmont. Or maybe if it is the one from the factory, my car came off so early in the production line (May of 77 according to my build sheet), that they were pulling parts from other assembly lines before they had specific parts for the model yet. Or out of the 19 listed Carb IDs for 1978-79 in my Fairmont Chilton's manual, they simply left the D8KE-DA off the list.

Does each carburator (2100 or 2150) has it own unique intake manifold gasket to mount at ? I have installed a 2150 that uses the previous 2100 intake manifold gasket, thanks !

    What size venturi should I have in a 2150 on a 390FE?

I just bought a NEW carburetor from a vendor on eBay. This is a Chinese knock off of the Motorcraft 2150. The only difference I see from your video is that my carburetor has a single stage power valve otherwise it looks identical. The reason for the purchase is to replace the variable venturi on my 1979 Lincoln Versailles.
