Sorry to say, but Code Lyoko IS NOT an anime. Anime simply means a cartoon made in Japan, nothing else. But Code Lyoko is not made in Japan, but in Franch. Which makes it only a cartoon.

Just finished the series after finding it on Netflix. Took me 13 years to finally finish the series, and I loved every beautiful second of it. Never skiped the intro or the ending theme song. Man, this show was a real killer!
It's been so long since I first watched this series. I remember waking up every Saturday morning to catch an episode at 6:30 every day. Even if I was told to sleep. Odd is the reason I learned to draw and love it, Jeremy made me glad I had an interest in technology and such, Umi helped me want to learn about other cultures different than mine, Aelita allowed me to learn how to really appreciate music, and Ulrich taught me how to just be myself and be...fine with it. They helped me so much growing up ^^ just wish we had more new stuff from them...even just a new game going over old stuff would be enough.
That song is "Break Away", by Subdigitals, a "virtual" band linked to the french anime Code Lyoko (one of their member even appears during one episode, and the band is apparently one of the top bands in the universe of Code Lyoko). An album has been released, both in english and in french (in french, the song is called "S'envoler")
Anyone think this song sort of reflects William? He gets possessed by XANA, gets kicked out of the group, the song kind of sounds like him narrating it all.

The english version definitely brings to mind William, which is kind of strange for his theme to be the closing theme from Season 2-4. I’m pretty sure the original french version is supposed to be about Jeremy (“stuck to this chair” is one of the strange relics of the original). The original more or less is Jeremy describing that he was loser and that love gave him a purpose, but he’s struggling with the frustrations and responsibilities that entailed as well as feelings of impotence and unappreciation, but that he longs to be free to “fly away” together with the one he loves.
Thats really beautiful and raw. Gives insight to Jeremy's character and internal conflict. Tbh, I hope I can have a healthy romantic relationship one day.

Used to be so into this show.. Man, did it rock. I usually got out of school an hour before everyone else, and I'd catch this and wait for all my friends to get out. Then we all chilled and then went under this bridge which was our hangout and did all sorts of legal* things. Good times... I feel as though they've dragged it on though, and I've outgrown it.
