    I love the barn! I made a gray roof but when I put it next to the background I realized the roof should have had more of a contrast to the background color. I'm going to make a brown roof now. It's no big deal, but thought I'd suggest to people to take into consideration the background colors before choosing applique colors. Thanks for your creative spirit, Jayda! Can't wait for the June applique now!

    Thank you soooo much for the barn. I knew it would be I just had that gut feeling. I still say you're awesome. Now that we have a barn I'm sure some animals will be arriving in the months to come. I'm expecting some water too. LOL I already have a buyer for this blanket and of course I haven't finished it yet and I haven't priced it. This year I'm only making one calendar blanket so since its the only one I'm making I hope I can part with it. Oh me oh my.😬

    If I was doing the divider line between the side of the barn and the front, I would go ahead and use the same color as the barn is made. Then there would be a division but it would be subtle.

    Jayda you do wonderfully beautiful work. Right now I’m making a baby blanket with your falling leaves stitch. I have a while till I’m finished, but, I was thinking about a edging for this blanket that would go with this stitch. I watch your show always, I’m the Kathryn with the osteoarthritis, and if you give an idea during one of your weekly crochet coffee treats, I would so appreciate it. Take care, God bless you and your hubby.....Kathryn

    About how much thread should I leave on my appliqués to use to sew them down on my blanket.
    Thank you
    Barbara

    • @JaydaInStitches
      @JaydaInStitches  5 лет назад

      Hi Barbara, it depends on the applique, but generally I try to leave between 1.5 and 2 times the length of the perimeter of the applique (having a measuring tape handy can be helpful, but you can also just place the yarn around the perimeter and then double that length!)

    Love this barn! I am left handed and want to make my blanket from a right handed perspective. Since I crocheted the barn left handed, Is it okay to flip the barn applique over so it faces in from the left side of the blanket? I hope that made sense.

      Hi Karen, yes! You can make the barn, and just flip it before you start adding your embroidery :)

    Wow! Watching you in that long sleeved sweater made me melt! Its 89°F or 31.7°Celsius here. Love the barn, reminds me of the one I helped my dad and grandpa build when I was 8. Just wondering, can you make the roof holding grey yarn and metalic embroidery thread together to make it look more like a tin roof?

      That was all I could think of to give the metallic look. Unless there is acrylic yarn with metallic looking threads woven in.

      Vanna’s Glamour by Lion Brand has metallic threads running through it. It’s sport weight, though, so you’d probably have to hold 2 strands together (if your blanket is done in worsted). There might be other brands with metallic threads too, but that was the first one that came to mind (because I’ve used it fairly recently).

      Wendy R I'm using worsted so that probably wouldn't work but I will definitely check out Hobby Lobby, JoAnn and Michael's
