As a Southern Viet live in Saigon, I can definitely sure that Hai Banh used to be dangerous in the late of 1990s and early of 2000s. But after bro had arrested and got out the jail, bro became a nice guy, supported many poverty residents, took the remaining illegal wealth to fund for the orphanage and elderly facility construction. More than 2 million people got killed, yet they never lost their smiles, and even forgive Americans. Great, touching quality story, and Hai Banh is a great example as well. Thank you so much🙏

Just because he accepted the money doesn’t mean he needed it. You donated it, and he plans to give it to charity, helping you earn good karma in the process. He’s wealthy enough not to need the money himself. Walking with him on the streets, you’ll notice how safe Vietnam is. The government has done an excellent job of cracking down on gangs, creating a secure environment. Moreover, the Vietnamese government believes in offering people a second chance, and most know better than to waste it. Hai Banh understood this and chose to return to a normal life. He even went so far as to apologize to his former rival gang members for the conflicts of the past

I will share this video to help everyone who is troubled. I hope they'll understand the pains they caused or will cause around them. This video hit hard because I too have loss many friends along the way. But the insight and pains of prison, losing family members while in prison. Those are the pains that I feel I need to share with the troubled youth. I hope they understand and see the pain that will come. My cousin is also on dialysis 3 days a week. It's amazing how similar our lives are. I felt his pain as I too had to pass on news from home that a friend's mother had died while he was in prison.

Great video. He seems very genuine about everything. God can change anyone. He is an example of that. You had me tearing up when he spoke. God Bless Him.
Just in case anyone is wondering about the swastika tattoo on the mafia boss's upper chest... In Vietnam, a swastika generally signifies a positive meaning, often associated with good luck and prosperity due to its widespread use in Buddhism, where it is considered a symbol of auspiciousness and is commonly seen in temples and religious artifacts; unlike in the West, where the swastika is primarily linked to hatred. You can tell because it's oriented a bit different. EDIT: I didn't realize they end up going over it later in the video.

Best of luck, Steve.
Great job bro. Your story shed light on many details and interesting stories about Hai Banh that even Vietnamese like me didnt know. He gained my respect not as a Former gang boss but as a man who successfully left his dark parth behind to become a better man. I will visit his tea store to support him someday.
Pure gold, again, Ali.
That's so kind of you bro, thank you.. I'll keep uploading more vlogs like this in the future so stay tuned!
good dude who like us all has made a few bad choices , but he's smart enough to put himself in his mom and others shoe's , and bless him for helping those folks in the hospital and not wanting it to show his charity
You’re right bro, he’s shown a lot of growth. It’s inspiring how he’s using his past to help others without seeking attention.
So impressed with his hidden talent as artist, his paintings are beautiful and his handwriting is superb

appreciate how generous you are with tipping
Those people are really evil, they don't think about the image of the country, they only care about the small benefits in front of them.
Thank you bro, the driver deserved it for showing me around town
A great interview and shows the other side of a changed criminal.

Thank you, Ali, for your wonderful interview with the high-ranking gangster in Vietnam that was at least two decades ago. I still remember from the news when the Vietnamese police announced the gangster led by 5 Nam. Well done fella for understanding other cultures, you are a decent bloke
Thanks a lot bro! I'll be posting more of Vietnam soon
EDIT: I didn't realize they end up going over it later in the video.
you can also call them left-facing sauwastika or bhuddist sauwastika
Not a swastika, it's a Buddhist Sun Cross, not tilted at an angle. Hitler added his own adaptation to it and called it the swastika.

@@griefyou1referring the nazi symbol as a Swastika is incorrect.
