Roses are starting to open their blooms in my garden. Not all of them, some roses are still quiet. Let's have a nice walk around and see what is happening at the end of May in my garden!

Beautiful roses! Thank you for showing us how the lateral growth progresses. It's easy to forget that climbers like to spread out, not just grow vertically. Sadly, peonies don't grow well in our hot dry climate here in Southern California. I adore them, and once in a while will indulge in a few blooms from the store. All around our city, Silky Oaks (Grevillea Robusta) with their dark gold blooms will overlap with purple Jacaranda trees toward the end of the month. Interesting how anchor plants vary across the country. I have several huge hot pink bougainvilleas, a yellow plumeria the size of a tree, and some very tall Mexican Fence Post cactus. The latter make quite a statement amidst the roses. Currently my favorite rose in the garden is Blush Noisette, with its sprays of tiny pink blossoms. I enjoy your rose chats.

Hello my dear. I love that pink generous rose plant. So many roses. I wish I could smell the scent. The dark pink peony's are so beautiful. The eden rose is rooking gorgeous and the stand is really beautiful. All your roses are doing great. You have a lovely garden. Thank you for sharing.

How wide and tall of an arch would you recommend for Generous Gardener? I am about to plant one and I'm worried a 5' wide and 7' tall arch just isn't big enough. 😬
You would want 2 GGs on both sides of your arch. And yes, 7 feet is somewhat short. Go for a taller one. At the beginning you will be fine, but then your rose would want to grow, unless you will be training it to the sides as I did with mine...
Hi Olga, have you experienced any pure white blooms on your generous gardener?
GG ages to almost white, but no pure whites on it so far.
It's interesting. My New Dawn bloomed yesterday before anyone else, including lady of shallott and generous gardener. It must be the sunlight. Today I will see who joins the party:) maybe Eustacia Vye.

Queen of Sweden is very narrow rose for me. I wish it would be a bit fuller, but she is growing in part light, that can be the story with her.

Beautiful garden and I can only imagine the wonderful scents as you pass through. My desdemona is still in its DA pot waiting for its permanent position. It's blooming beautiful and the scent is absolutely intoxicating. Keep up the lovely content.
I was trimming Generous Gardener today and the scent was so overpowering among those blooms that I started to think about ladies who use too much perfumes!
@@OlgaCarmody certainly less is more on the perfume front. Quality over quantity. I've got five roses waiting for the buds to open. Many are beginning to swell. So looking forward to enjoying them. A feast for the senses.

Wondering how many plants you put together to get such beautiful growth? I know David Austin often suggests putting three together in a triangle pattern? My lady of Shallot looks so small compared to yours. This is the third year and we will see if they "leap". :). I learn so much from you, Olga! Thank you so much!
Thank you for explaining what lateral shoots are, and how to prune these and how to cut down the main branch when it gets old. I can see my mistakes with lateral shoots in the past. So good to know!!!
You’re lucky you don’t have Japanese beetles Olga 😬. I hope you never do. My roses were so beautiful before they started their invasion here. This will be their 5th year here. Once the come-there isn’t anything you can do but pick them off and throw them in a bucket of soapy water 😭 you’ll have them forever…

I think the Generous Gardener rose's "pink" shade and its shape and style of rose is probably the most beautiful of all pink roses out there, and I love the way yours arches and fills out so wonderfully. So the darker the stem (or more "red"), the newer the stem, and the more green it is, the older the stem is, did I understand that right? Thank you for the tour. Lovely as always.

I have the same problem with roses that don’t get enough sun. I do have one that keeps its leaves all winter. Then it blooms like crazy even in part shade. The rose breeders need to incorporate that trait.

Olga, I share your passion for creating and investing myself in lifelong gardening. Yes, only second to my grown children, are my “children” of the garden. I could spend much time asking you questions, but just a couple for now, such as how do you prefer to amend your soil when planting; I try to grow my plants organically to encourage and not harm the pollinators, birds, etc. but lately having issues with garden pests. What types of products do you use for destructive insects and disease issues? I love watching you show what you have created and how you explain your perspectives. Your garden “rooms” are beautiful.🌻🦋🌷🏡

Your roses are lovely Olga, but I must say that your hostas always catch my eye in your videos! I wish I was your neighbor so that I could include some of your hostas in my garden when you decide to divide them in future years.
