- The RA 9729, also known as Climate Change Act of 2009, is an act mainstreaming climate change into government policy formulations, establishing the framework strategy and program on climate change.
The Climate Change Act of 2009, as amended, and its Implementing Rules and Regulations recognizes the role of local governments as frontline agencies in the formulation, planning, and implementation of climate action plans in their respective areas, consistent with the provisions of the Local Government Code, the National Framework Strategy for Climate Change, and the National Climate Change Action Plan.
Local Climate Change Action Plan (LCCAP) is the action plan formulated by local governments to address climate change concerns. It focuses on both climate change adaptation and mitigation and describes how LGUs plan to respond to the impacts of climate change and mainstream them into local development.
In line with the celebration of the National Climate Change Consciousness Week, EMB will be conducting a recognition event for those Local Government Units within the Region who have formulated, created, and submitted their climate change action plan and activities through their LCCAP.
