- Hello everyone again. Welcome to my channel which about bushcraft and survival skills. I am a primitive builder. I build shelters and off grid log cabins in the wild. I have solo winter camping videos on my channel. But besides that, I'm trying to build different shelters. Previously, I shared my first video about my stone shelter. I had finished most of the work in that video, but there was no complete roof and walls yet. My house now has a door. I also filled the gap in the roof. The fireplace works just fine and can heat the inside. Of course, my stone house still has its shortcomings. I will gradually complete them. I will make it a beautiful living space. My next job will be with mud. It will be very difficult to cover the stones with mud because there is very little suitable soil around to be used. Please write, I would like to know your opinions. Para mi la chimenea tendría que ser un poco más ancha y alta, asi expande mas el calor, pero es mi opinión, desde gran canaria un saludo 🤗🇪🇸

You did a great job.
I converted ( with my new wife ) a stone church into a home. It had no water, or bathroom, and very minor electricity ( eight lights ) The pointing was terrible and not safe.
We re-pointed it, installed electricity, heat ( wood stove & oil furnace ) had a well drilled, passed a well line through five feet of stone wall, installed plumbing, put a second floor using the pews for wood.
It turned into a beautiful home.
Your survival shelter was no less a challenge, my sincere compliments on your great work!

Thanks you for your precious comment. I am so glad you liked it. I will use the stones as you said to protect the ground from moisture. Hello, believe me, even I can't believe that I took this much trouble. Everything seems so easy while watching the video, but it was very tiring and risky to carry those stones from long distances. But I persisted and eventually something good came out. It seems simple but I loved my little house. They may question my sanity. 😀 This is not a problem for me. Creating something makes me happy. I did all the work alone. But I worked 10-11 hours every day for 8 full days. I am not a professional builder. I'm not even a builder. I am trying to learn by myself in nature. I'm glad you like the job. :-)

Все замечательно! Но не хватает окошка побольше для вентиляции.
Ты прав. Прямо над дверью есть маленькое окошко. Тоже недостаточно. Вот как я буду обращаться с этим сейчас.
Да зачем там вентиляция? Там такие дыры в стенах между камнями, что задохнуться можно только от дыма собственной печи, который ветром через них задувать будет. Труба в полтора метра - вообще песня!
Но, главное - цветочки вокруг посадить!

There is a problem with the height of the chimney as per Mi code the chimney has to clear the peak of the roof. In the video the smoke is drafting across the (soon to be) dried grass of the roof. As fires usually exhaust sparks, you run the risk of setting the roof on fire. The whole of the house is very well done. I can really imagine ancestors, including kids, living there. Congrats.

Wherever you go Into the Woods, if you have to move rocks for any reason whatsoever then strap a hand truck to your back with inflatable tires attached. Fill the tires with expansive foam before you leave the house so you will be assured of no flat tires when you're in the wilderness! Your back probably hurt you quite a bit after you moved all those stones right? My back hurts just watching you do this. I used to build retaining walls and I'm very mindful of how balanced coordination and using your common sense and your proper tools will help you feel good when you lay down at night instead of throbbing in pain while you can't sleep laying on the cold wet ground!
Hello. Thank you for your precious comment. I think I'm going through some very silly things. I have a herniated disc. Normally when I lift these heavy stones, my lower back has to be worse. But interestingly, my back is relaxed. I built a stone shelter last year. My back pain is gone and I haven't had any problems for months. After this stone house, my back was relieved. I thought about it but couldn't find a logical explanation. Building retaining walls is really hard work. If you have done it for many years, you are very tired physically. I think it will be a bit of a hassle to drive a wheelbarrow in this rough area. Thank you very much anyway.
@@MichaelBushcraftandOutdoors I agree that with proper body mechanics, your back should get stronger with rock setting. Also, a hand truck is not that heavy and can be easily carried and is indeed a back saving tool!

Hallo. Danke für deinen Kommentar. Glauben Sie mir, ich würde diese Schneidebretter nicht bezahlen wollen. Ich habe sie gekauft. Denn in diesem Wald gibt es keinen einzigen vertrockneten Baum, den ich fällen könnte. Viele Menschen schneiden und verwenden nasse Bäume. Aber in so einem Wald würde ich niemals einen Baum fällen. Ich habe dir gezeigt, wie es geht. In einer Survival-Situation werden Sie natürlich kein Holz verwenden, sondern ggf. lebende Bäume. Sie kommen mit Erde statt Plane aus. Ich habe jeden der Steine aus einem Bereich des Waldes gesammelt. Ich habe einige aus der Erde gegraben. Einige von ihnen waren von Natur aus glatt, und einige habe ich selbst mit Hammer und Säge gebrochen.

I know, it's a hard job but you can add more stones to make the wall taller and more comfortable this place. Good luck, great video.
Thank you so much. You're right, I would have been more comfortable if the walls were a little higher. But the wall would be more likely to collapse. Safety or convenience? I thought. I gave the security answer first. Thanks you for your precious comment. :-)
@@MichaelBushcraftandOutdoors The walls would of course be more stable if the walls are thicker at the bottom. This is a bit more work, but it could make the cabin more comfortable.
You could also add some logs as bracing on the inside of the stone walls, and perhaps even add some plank walls. The gap between the rock and plank walls could then be filled with some kind of insulation (such as the stuff you used on the roof).
Regarding the roof, I'm guessing that you hardly get any snow in your region, as those roof planks seesm much too light to carry any kind of load. If you strengthen the roof a bit you could as a thick layer of sod on top, which would help insulate the cabin even further.

I filled the spaces between the stones with mud. I made the roof a little stronger and laid fine stones on the roof. But then I realized that it was a mistake and lowered the stones. It snows here in winter. Maybe it will rain 1 meter. Although the stones I put on the roof were very heavy, there was no problem on the roof. So I think it can withstand snow. I really enjoyed watching you buildvyour stone house. I'm curious as to what you were sowing? Rice, what was it like for the animals? Your menue was very tasty looking especially the eggplant! U needed some tomatoe paste but you had 🍅 so you could have almost had parmigiashano? (not to good at spelling Italian) it all looked great! Your 🚪looked like it could have been a little more insulated but I'm no architect. Overall it seemed like it was warm and cozy! Hope you had a great time in the woods. Thanks you for your precious comment. I am so glad you liked it. I planted onions in the right corner of the house. I planted wheat on both sides. If I am still alive when summer comes, I will make my own bread with that wheat. :-) I haven't finished the house yet. I filled the spaces between the stones with mud. I made a bed. I'm still doing something right now. I haven't met any wild animals yet. There are only wild boar tracks around. There are also many partridges. I hear their voices all the time. Quite interesting building method using crude stones. Maybe you should have used mud as joinery between stones? It could be a better protection agains wind.
