Such a great design indeed. The claws, the tank treads. The way the rockets can shoot from both the bottom and over the shoulder. Such a badass voice too
Yeah, I love the design too. Ironically enough, folks who hate on this reboot while fawning over the Netflix reboot always seem to ignore the fact that Netflix's version of the robots take direct inspiration from _this_ robot! Or am I the only one to take note of that?
The personality was good too. Even when he was brainwashed he sounded pissed when he got shot at. "That...was....a mistake." Showing he has sentience and that really pissed him off.
Oh, okay. I haven't seen this movie in a decade or so, but now that I rewatch this scene, the line "That. Was. A mistake." has an energy that even the villains nowadays just don't got.
This movie has the distinction of being the one that knocked Titanic out of the #1 spot at the box office, I love this take on the characters. Also the Apollo 440 theme ROCKS.
I fondly remember this movie. And the interest of space and future possibilities shown in the original series from my childhood days in the 60's. But I loved the Netflix series, as well with each conceptualization of ROBOT becoming iconic; in it's own right! And to think, the fact that I have lived to see these things come to fruition in my lifetime; at the age of sixty. It's SO cool intergenerationally sharing this with my children and grandchildren.
The part with Matt LeBlanc jumping on the robot, I couldn't help but think of the Friends episode where he gets a part in the TV show with the robot, "Mac and C.H.E.E.S.E." when the robot is destroying the set because his controller is distracted kissing a girl! 😂😂
Saw this movie as a kid, and loved it, still do, but looking back now, it really wasn't done very well, as a movie. The real saving graces in my opinion are the stupid-cool set, costume and prop designs, and the action sequences. I'm kinda disappointed it didn't get a sequel to try and give it the second chance it deserved, as quite a bit of heart went into the production.

@@Capt_Chaos_91 Just usually when I see different actors/cast I’m unfamiliar with I’m skeptical. I wasn’t all too familiar with the original series before the movie, anyway, maybe just some references here and there.
The robot was the only high point for the movie outside the "At the time" SFX with the face helmet and the spiderish monsters that was a cool scene as well almost like a proto Iron man or even Real Steel moment. Lost in Space crawled so Iron Man 3 and Real Steel could run.
This movie just plain stunk. The whole idea of the series was that it was campy fun. This crap was miserable, and the acting was horrific. If Matt LeBlanc wasn't rich from Friends, he'd be working at a car wash.
I always love the new design for the Robot. It doesn’t get enough credit.

If you look at the lower section, you can see it resembles the design of the robot from the original show.
The head and upper torso resembles an upright……wait for it….cockroach! (I built a model of it and over analyzed it years ago!)
This movie was really underrated. A really good movie and good fight sequence at the end. Also, Gary Oldman rocks in this movie!
Nope.
Yep
Cult classsic
It was a good movie but there were some really amazing movies that came out around the time this was released.
Dr. Smith: Leave Him Alone!
Still one of my favorite robot designs.
Very futuristic but still grounded in reality (helped by the practical effects).
I love how they got the original voice actor from the TV series to reprise his role as Robot.
Oh, okay. I haven't seen this movie in a decade or so, but now that I rewatch this scene, the line "That. Was. A mistake." has an energy that even the villains nowadays just don't got.
"That. Was. A mistake!" That line is so menacing.
That's what I'm here for 😂
Love that line
Robot 🤖: Destroy!
RIP William Hurt (March 20, 1950 - March 13, 2022), age 71
You will be remembered as a legend
He perished?😭
He was a great actor
This movie has the distinction of being the one that knocked Titanic out of the #1 spot at the box office, I love this take on the characters. Also the Apollo 440 theme ROCKS.
I love that they use the original robot voice from the 60s. Warning Will Robinson!

Interesting hearing how the Robot says, "that was a mistake. RIP William Hurt.
Like usual.
Gary Oldman is the best part of the movie
Like usual, Penny & Robot are the best parts.
Dr. Smith: Hold On!
If they just would have excluded the poorly animated cutesy monkey, this would be a much more well received Scifi classic.
PRACTICAL EFFECTS BEFORE CGI
That's my motto
1:39 That was a mistake
Gary Oldman in this and Quest for Camelot played absolutely ridiculous villains.
Both filmed around the same time.
I wonder if he fired his agent for that?
Dr. Smith: Surprise 😯
This film was the best. Real shame there was no sequel.
They have a new TV show from like 2022 and it was surprisingly good
@@BassMaster.454 The new show was very good-but also lived a short life and has been forgotten. This IP very much seems like a dead end unfortunately.
Professor 👨🏫: You!
This movie was outstanding for its time first space movie ever saw still love it
Continue to announce mission parameters loudly!
It's what they would have done in the show :P
Robot 🤖: Boo 👻
RIP William Hurt

I didn't know this movie existed, the one I watched when I was little was the original from the 1960s
I just love this channel upload notifications
Family won’t come to the science fair. Bring the science fair to the family!
Danger Will Robertson, Danger!
1:15 Even in the future, it is still ‘In case of emergency, break glass’.

this movie had to set up a lot of the world-building that a sequel would not have had to deal with, a such I think the sequel would have been great.
Robot 🤖: Destroy Jupiter 2 Destroy!
Apart from the bad cgi alien monkey thing
...i really enjoyed Lost in Space back in the day 👍
I just finished watching the Netflix version
I’m pretty sure “destroy” is that robots favorite word
Considering that Smith reprogrammed it before the launch, all the more reason. Lol
I loved this movie... casting was perfect 😍
1:39 *"That...was...a mistake."*
Remember taking my Son to see this at the cinema, great film
this was my first introduction to lost in space
Very Very Good
I forgot how cool this channel is! Thanks and for links in your description!
"That was a mistake". Ominous yet funny.
Loved this movie!
Descansa en paz William hurt y gracias por hacer está película espacial que siempre estaré viendo y Netflix hizo tu remake.

I first saw this back in elementary school.
I recently finished the Netflix show. Didn’t even know it was once a movie!
Before it was a movie, it was a show from the 60s.
Robot 🤖: Destroy!
I remember watching this in theaters when I was a kid

Should've left it alone
The movie needed Jonathan Harris for more than a cameo.
You got copyright dude🤨
Great pity they never made a sequel.🙁🙁🙁🙁
Cool it jack 😄
I remember this movie, somewhat. Pretty decent, though I never saw the remake series.
The Netflix series is worth watching imo

@@DaveGX the Netflix series is pretty enjoyable
I liked this version more than the Netflix series.

🔥🎈😂OMG WOW this was the first film my dad took me Cinema to watch 🎬😂🔥🤗👍👏👏👏👏
That robot says destroy Robinson.
Joey thought Robot was a sandwich.
RIP William
This makes for a great drinking game.
Hello what about Disney and Pixar shouldn’t that be on movieclips
At less the robot look better than his original form
Disagree

Only the Robot voice is worth keeping like in Star Trek.

What a stupid robot walking around telling everyone his plans.
Thats what he did in the 60s.
The movie was garbage.
Respect to West. Dude jumped on top of a robot with a plasma canon to try to save the family
