Superb score as ever from what was truly a golden age of cinema. Very few modern scores come close to what was routinely produced for films between the 30s and 60s
Fear god the emotion, the scoring for the scenes. Apparently the composer would watch the film and produce the music of just the right length to fit the scene. Later they would work them up into the scores that are played on these releases. These composers were true geniuses, as someone else has commented, just another day in the office. I fell in love with these composers 30 years ago just as all their works were being rediscovered and released on CD.
Before "The Wrecking Crew" dominated pop music, Alfred Newman orchestrated and managed quite the line up in the sound studios around Hollywood. Can you just imagine witnessing work such as this score taking place like it was "just another day in the office"? 13:00 is hypnotic, mesmerizing, mystical. And incredibly: "just another day in the office" for Alfred Newman.

Magnificent…🙏

John Williams y su Indiana Jones debe mucho a Alfred Newman.
