  • Highlights from the November 1990 Northern Line railtour which used the Heritage liveried 1959 tube stock train.
As the cover image suggests, to make it easier to see features along the line the train stopped in the tunnel and the lights were switched off. People inside the train had powerful lights which they used to illuminate the tunnel wall / whatever it was we were being shown.
I hope that I have all my facts correct!

On Carto Metro Free you can see all those lines but the Bushey Heath branch. Thanks for the 1930s explanation map.

yes but it is much safer now that it has separate platforms rather than just the very narrow island platform

1044, with classmate 1045 - as I'm sure you know - now live on Alderney Channel Island, used on the service between Mannez Quarry and Braye Road. I've just come back from there, after finally being able to get out there to do it! Diesel hauled these days, by a 70 year old vulcan shunter, push and pull mode, one engine principle. They only use one set of doors on each carriage now, but these are still compressed air operated, by the switch on the outside of the carriage. Really good to see 1044 running here under the juice as it was. On Alderney, I was told that the two coaches still use their original brakes, connected up to the Diesel by compressed air. The brakes will overpower the diesel easily I was told, in the event of an emergency stop!
