- അരിയാഹാരം കഴിക്കാത്ത മലയാളികള്‍ ഇല്ല. ആന്ധ്രക്കും തെലങ്കാനക്കും പുറമേ ഉത്തരാഖണ്ഡിലും കേരളത്തിൽ വരെ പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് അരി വില്‍പനയെന്ന റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടുകള്‍ വ്യാപകമാണ്. 2010ല്‍ ചൈനയില്‍ നിന്നാണ് ആദ്യമായി പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക്ക് അരി എന്ന പ്രയോഗം തന്നെ ഉണ്ടാകുന്നത്. പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് അരി കൊണ്ടുള്ള 3 കപ്പ് ചോര്‍ കഴിക്കുന്നത് ഒരു വലിയ പ്ലാസ്‌റിക് ബാഗ് കഴിക്കുന്നതിനു തുല്യമാണ് തുടങ്ങിയ പ്രചരണങ്ങളും ഉണ്ട്. എന്താണ് പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് അരി? കഴിഞ്ഞ കുറച്ചു ആഴ്ചകളായി പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് അരിയെപ്പറ്റിയുള്ള കഥകൾ നമ്മൾ കേൾക്കുകയാണ്. സോഷ്യൽ മീഡിയയിൽ വേവിച്ച അരി ഉരുട്ടിയ ഉരുള നിലത്തേക്കെറിഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ ചാടുന്ന ഒരു വീഡിയോ വൈറലാവുകയും ചെയ്തു.ഇതോടെ പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക്ക് അരിയാണ് നമ്മൾ കഴിക്കുന്നത് എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു ധാരാളം വീഡിയോ ഇറങ്ങുകയുണ്ടായി.
