  • At the age of 80, Harriet traveled from Toronto to Madrid in order to be treated for esophageal cancer. After being diagnosed in her hometown, Harriet and her family sought a second opinion that would offer them a more appropriate treatment for her condition. For that reason, they came to the Clínica Universidad de Navarra to receive proton therapy.
"In a profile like Harriet's, in which she presents an advanced age and underlying diseases, surgical treatment can bring a greater risk of complications than protons, which are the best option", explains Dr. Javier Serrano , radiotherapy oncologist of the Proton therapy Unit of the Clinic.
