- Well this test of this new Axial Ryft I'd borrowed didn't go quite to plan...Like no chance of a top speed test.

Lol I love this car it’s a beast. Definitely rtr fashion sucks. I don’t have much upgrades but some key ones like every other rc. They all break. Heavier shock oil, pen springs under shock pistons to lower ride height. hot racing sway bar. Jb weld epoxy the diffs to lock em up solid. Closed cell foams make a world of difference in high speed for the ryft… I love this car. Send all your ryft junk my way 😎
All comments on this one much appreciated. The upgrades you suggest are exactly what I aim this Chan to provoke out of people to share. Comment of the day- no prize for that as yet!
Put a small opinion on it
Nylon nuts serrated
No $500 rtr should “ suck “ that’s not ok
Thanks for your honesty & your comments echo my own experience with the Ryft. I didn't not enjoy mine, just wouldn't stay upright. Sold it after 6 runs.
So i did,to make it run good ,you need a lot money!needless
The manual doesn't tell you where to run it but it being a rock bouncer might. You don't take an F1 car on the Paris Dakkar. The need for it to want to be on its roof is bad though.
Kind but good words my friend I wast slamming it but I think you got where I was coming from at this price point
I ordered one of these, bought all the upgrades to solve all the issues then got cold feet after. Not for me, I just don't need that kinda frustration... (returned everything).
Thanks for telling it like it is!
It's official Rich, I'm not getting one either, to look at its a work of art, too many problems from stock, coupled up with what I've just seen, I'm out!! Thanks for the video 👍🏻👍🏻
Losi needs to bring back the Rock Rey. I love mine. I was hoping Traxxas would make a Rock bouncer... Best idea yet?
Cheers Gov!! Thanks to YOU..... I don't feel bad AT ALL NOW for not getting this vehicle. I WAS BUMMED at first. BUT, here I was thinking it was badass RC and I missed out, I bought a Red Cat Kaiju instead!!!! CLOSE CALL GOV!!!! Thanks again, you saved me on that one. Your friend from the Bay Area, 🥂 cheers!!!! 👍💯💯
Man!!!! Me and Ryan were thinking about buying two of those!!!!!
Thx for the honest review.
Great video and thank you for your input!!
Cool looking rc but seems too light especially with them small tires. Maybe a little more weight would help with the constant rollovers
Sitting on the shelf at my LHS... I wanted one... Where I live in Vegas, if I got this and it flipped on a trail it would be gone forever. It looks amazing, but I need a car that likes having all 4 wheels on the ground (and actually attached)
You can upgrade some Vitavon parts for the rig. I have seen Exocaged RC did it.
ya when i bought a wraith spawn at my local shop, the owner asked me why dont i get a ryft instead? I told him no locked diffs, no sensored set up, i would have to put another 500 at least into it to get it where i would want it. Love the wraith though, a few hundred bucks and they become unstoppable crawlers or even a rock bouncer!
It’s classified as a rock bouncer! Grass that length when it wraps around your axle will tighten up and act as a vice and throw your wheel off. Because of The Torque twist on this, it needs a needs a beefier front and rear sway bar. Be patient with this Richie, it’s a good truck, but not perfect by any means. Just needs a little help to be what it’s not really intended for. It’s really good at what it’s intended for though, and that is violently jumping , climbing, hopping over terrain you and I would break our ankles on! Good luck brother!Check it the exocaged channel for mods and the purpose of this machine . ruclips.net/video/uUaXc7xBZJM/видео.html
Maybe a few low CG metal parts like wheels, axles, knuckles, and hub carriers would help. Also Richie, if all else fails, get some blue Loctite on there, and tighten the wheel nuts up good, and try that out. Also make sure your axle threads are clean before Loctiting them.
I completely agree with you. I want to love my ryft but every time I take it out it is terribly disappointing. I have tried everything and still hate to take it out. They messed up making it, and I messed up buying it.
I agree this is a big time mess up as in paper it’s be a car you kill to own, but then you drive it…Ryan has just sold this one. I am sat on the fence as to what to buy next
Mine is soon out the door also, and i never get rid of any of my rigs. We usually buy them because we like them, but once the fire is gone its just gone. Also love your videos and love how you are straight forward. Hard to find people that keep it straight forward.
Correct sell d it after 3 frustrating runs!
Hi Richie I’ve just finished building the kit version it’s far superior 😎
That’s good to hear I wasn’t slamming this car but for the price point it wasn’t punching it’s weight as stock. I will call it like it is on the day first impressions etc!
It’s a different beast bro. Put a rear swag bar on it . And loctite the wheel nuts. And put some lockers on it. It will amaze you
Swag bar? Loving it I am going to get the run dmc chain and the bling right now. Oh Er hang on!!!!
"Fixing" the tractor roll 'problem' is extremely easy - higher weight shock oil on the rear-right (or, is it rear-left...I'm blanking right now) shock will resolve the great majority of the torque twist, at least enough to eliminate the rollover problem. In building my Ryft Kit, I went 10lbs heavier (42.5, 32.5 on the other three), and I haven't experienced any rollover problem at all.
The other problem, from what I can see, is the tires. The tires you're running (which aren't the stock tires) are designed for sand (and snow), not rocks & grass. In other words, by putting those tires on, and running the Ryft on those surfaces, you are, in essence, CAUSING the problems.
People listen to Robb as he knows his stuff. Miss Robb lot’s
@@DriftomaniacsRC Miss ya, too...tho, of late, our weather hasn't been much better then your new location's weather. At least I can still Robb RCs outdoors year-round (for the most part)...lol
Seriously, though, in regards to the Rift, I've found that most "problems" can easily be fixed with some 'tweaks' here, and some 'adjustments' there. The biggest "help" is by lowering the CoG, which I primarily did through the use of Vitavon Racing machined axle housings, lower trailing arms, sway bars, & beadlock wheels, and Treal upper links.
Also, the stock shocks aren't all that great...but, replacing them with Traxxas GTR shocks (I covered exactly how in my RCC forum thread), and a dual-rate spring configuration, solved that problem. The full build is covered in another thread on the RCC forum.
Now, time to go have some fun with my newest 'RC' vehicle - 2WD, powered by a 10S Hobbywing ESC...also known as an electric skateboard. 🤙
Now all you gotta do to keep it in a straight line fast is SLOWLEY pull the throttle not immediately
Loctite the wheel nuts
It actually does tell you to not drive it through long grass
My 2022 Land Rover defender doesn’t but on the other hand WHO reads the manual? Bit like buying a Ferrari and it going wrong at 100mph who would expect that? HH f’cked this one up. Mind you at the ‘Best ever attended’ axial fest under Covid 19 (Greg sopa what kind of insane person organization does that other than to help spread Covid does that????) what would you expect- horizon hobby equals Covid spreaders. Rolll on a I axial deathfesty2022!!!! Is Greg’s bonus based on customer deaths????
we are professional rc lipo battery for racing car over ten years
they need wide tires and wheels those wheels are narrow
It specifies not to drive it in tall grass. I have a blast with mine brother. I’ll take that one off your hands. I believe you should be driving it more intentionally
My dad like it but I told him it really sucks for the price
Don’t let dad buy it!
@@DriftomaniacsRC yup
Wow for over $500 its a joke. They look pretty good once you upgrade the hell out of them but at that point you have a $1,000 RC… which is just wrong 😅😂
Very true and so glad it’s not me that thinks it I love all GOOD rc cars but this ain’t t one sorry Greg sopa
Why are you using paddle tires on grass and rocks? Lmao. I bet it would improve if you put the right tires on.
Ha! No ryft love here. Stuff it with vitavon it’s still a turd.
lol not a racer
I had one because it looks epic but its needless ,the handling is shit makes no fun to drive because every 5 meters it flips over with sway bar!The esc is good but not in this car ,you can not crawl when you need because of the cogging!
was really disappointed that Axial sells such crap!
MY OPPINION
You are NOT alone. Wondering how much pressure Greg from HH put them under to produce this pod!!!
I always felt there products are a little over rated! You need to spend a lot of money for it to perform! kinda just junk!
Its the same shit as the losi rock rey undriveable and cheap easy breaking plastic!frustrating!
I don't this ride at all junk
