It’s such a beautiful and touching video. The lyrics are gorgeous and deep and Dimash speaks from his heart and soul. I cried not because the video is so sad, but because Dimash is such a humble person who only expresses gratitude, joy and love for his life so far, but is also afraid of disappointing those he loves. Who does that these days? And at that age too? What a great human being. He's worked so hard for it his whole life and despite his success he's remained so down to earth, incredibly nice to everyone and never acts like a star. He always makes us think about our own lives.

Dimash has received an award from Pope Francis personally at The Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions held in Kazakhstan on September 13, 2022. He performed the song The Story Of One Sky there in connection with the congress before the premiere. Can you imagine, a Muslim receiving an award from the head of the Catholic Church. It was a meeting that was really centered around peace and humanity. Also to acknowledge different faiths and tolerance. So a Christian handing over an award to a Muslim wasn't really all that relevant because it doesn't matter. There are too many distinctions being drawn especially when it comes to faith and ethnicity. There is also nothing that makes the Pope more special than you and I. He is simply a leader.

The fact that the Pope is only a simple man before God, the same as you and I, doesn't mean that Dimash didn't feel honoured to receive the award. It is the recognition of the reward, not the person who handed it over, that carries meaning and value.

Yes, it's a very emotional song as he wrote it himself. His first professional song where he wrote lyrics and music. And you're right, he wrote it to thank the Dears and released it on his birthday. And we thank him very much. And we express condolences too for the passing of his grandfather last week. And wish him the best concert in Malaysia on June 24th.

His grand father passed away seven days before the concert in Malaysia. He was lilke a father for him, and all the family was very affected and very sad. I was there, waiting for him at the airport, and I was at the concert too, and I don’t have words. He was very moved, very sad and very grateful to all of us….. and maybe this was the best concert I’ve seen. He sang with passion, with emotion and wit perfection too, I will never forget this day. We only can love him❤❤❤❤❤

I get the sense that Dimash is on the verge of a new chapter. He's positioning himself to move more into the US and broader Western markets and maybe will take some surprising artistic turns. After all, he does keep surprising us - and is nothing if not diverse! You're right; there has never been an artist like him and unlikely ever will be, but it must be lonely sometimes up there on the heights. He is genuinely very appreciative of all his supporters, but is too often placed on unrealistic pedestals. We've all seen what can happen to celebrities when the pressures become too great. Nobody wants that for Dimash.
And it's important too to understand that Dimash is not 'just' a great artist and musical celebrity, He is also the most prominent cultural ambassador his country has ever had. These dual pressures are unique and must be overwhelming sometimes. Dimash is a decent caring respectful guy with a social conscience, who wants to use his 'reach' to send out anti-war and humanitarian messaging - as many artists before him have also done. That doesn't make him a saint or an angel - as some OTT admirers keep suggesting ! Where in all this 'expectational 'Halo' -is there any leeway for being a fallible human, just like anybody else?! 'Messing up? Making mistakes? Challenging others expectations? Treading new paths? True Artists can't be confined. They need to flex, pivot, expand, evolve, breath, create.

Thank you for your wonderful reaction. As others have commented, Dimash wrote the lyrics and music himself. At the "gritty" point in the song, he shows shots from his appearance on the "World's Best", the show that disrespected him so badly. (Dears will not watch reactions to that particular show.) That was the only time that I have ever seen Dimash radiating anger, yet he behaved with dignity, unlike the show's hosts, who abused him for withdrawing when they violated the terms of his appearance. (He had specified that he would not compete against children, which would violate his cultural standards.) Thus the grit!
Dimash has recently been spending a lot of time in Los Angeles preparing for the next phase in his career which will be conquering the West. I believe this song is not only about his thanks to the Dears for getting him this far but concern for this next big step he is about to take. I'm sure we are all concerned for him as well.

К сожалению в его семье случилось горе. 13 июня ушёл из жизни дедушка Димаша. А концерт в Малайзии 24 июня. Я очень надеюсь что семья Димаша сможет оправиться хоть немного и провести концерт на высоком уровне. Надеюсь они смогут утешиться благодаря этому концерту

Dimash composed the song, and wrote the lyrics. He gave it to us Dears as a gift on his Birthday on 24th May. Sadly this past week saw the sudden unexpected passing of his elder father Kudaibergen, and he has a huge concert to perform at this Saturday 24th June. He is strong but even so it must be so hard for him to get on stage to sing, dance and look happy. He knows all his Dears will help him if he needs us to sing for him. Dimash has been living and working in LA for the past few months and ge flew back to Kazakhstan just in time for his Papas funeral. He has been working with David Foster, Walter Afanasiev, Stevie Mack and others. He has also been composing the official soundtrack for a new Jackie Chan Movie. He has written some songs for himself too and hopefully, like this one, we will hear and see the fruits of his labour soon. Better send Dimash that hug and kiss H ❤

I'm thinking his song was written after his move to LA as he said in the interview he had written 5 new song with a jazz and blues influence and I've always believed it's about this new stage in his life. He's been a world star but this move could put him finally at the pinnacle and help him achieve the two things he's dreamed of but not achieved yet. The Grammy and the concert in Wembley.

@@eannemarie739 actually I'm sort of putting clues together with this one, he said in Yerevan that he'd written 5 new songs based on jazz and blues, as he'd been busy travelling around and with the concerts prior to his move plus recording the official track and music video for Together and seems to have focused his time so far in LA composing or having business meetings I'm presuming this is one of the songs he's written. I'll edit my original post to reflect that.

I love this song so much. I think the line about disappointments & asking for forgiveness I think is about him worrying about letting his Dears down & maybe his teachers/family. He is so humble &, I think, still amazed that his dreams are coming true. He need not worry as he could never let us all down, when he has given us all so much, more than he could imagine! He has changed my life & I've heard this said by many other Dears. He really does affect so many people in such positive ways & I don't think he realises just how much. I think that this song may be in part about his elderly grandad who, with his dad’s mum, raised him in Kazakh traditions. This wonderful and very much loved gentleman, who is such a big part of Dimash’s upbringing, has just passed away, and may have been failing while Dimash was putting this together. He may have been hoping that God would change this outcome.
The whole song is a happy and sad tearjerker, but very beautiful and knowing for all….another wonderful gift from Dimash and his God.
