      @@marcowens3522 I used 4 of the 9 amp hour flexvolt batteries and it can power my big freezer fridge for 8 hours. I have sets of batteries so I can switch out and charge 4 and run 4 at a time. I charge them in an emergency with a small Honda gas powered generator. But so far both power outages were fixed before I had to worry about changing batteries or charging. Its super easy and convenient to just run my freezer fridge on batteries and no fumes or gas to worry about. But I got the gas gen as stand by as needed to charge batteries. Its quick with a fast charger too.

    Just bought this and just wanted to clear something up. The flex volt 60v/20v 6.0ah is the equivalent to the 20v XR 6.0ah battery in 20v use. Meaning you would save some weight on the dcb1800 use weight and not sacrifice any performance by switch. Also they're half the price. GREAT SHOW GUYS.... I took my DCB1800 on a three day fishing trip thinking it would charge/run a bunch of stuff for me. I was running 4 fully charged 6.0 amp hour flex volts and it plugged a crock pot in it on high. I can't say I know exactly how long it ran because we left the ice house to scout around with our pullover shacks, but we came back like three hours later and it was dead. If it ran a fridge in this video for 14 hours, I wouldn't think that running a crock pot for 6 hours would be out of the question. I guess I never knew how much electricity a crock pot drew. I just figured it would handle the job no problem. I was kind of dissapointed in the unit because this is what I brought the power station on the fishing trip for...I just didnt know one crock pot could drain it so fast. Seems like it does very well on everything else.

      You need to think about your logic there. If you have wall power, why would you need to run the inverter and charge batteries at the same time? Just plug straight into the wall what you would try to run through the inverter. If you don't have wall power, you can plug a powerbar into the inverter and then plug a charger into that plus whatever other item you wanted to run off the inverter. Just make sure to not exceed the 1800W constant load. Asking for direct charging ports in addition to the four dual purpose top battery ports just so you can charge batteries while running the inverter is going to make the unit larger, heavier and more expensive for a rare group of users.

    My one disappointment is the standby power. You couldn't really keep it connected to a sump pump as illustrated and expect it to function when a float switch trips. The standby current just to keep the DCB1800 on will soon suck the power out of even a full array of 9ah Flexvolts. I haven't done a real test but my observations show it has the batteries down to one LED in a couple of days. Other than that I love the thing, it powers my new Rolair JC20 Quiet Compressor without a hitch!

What's even better is bare tool is @ $482.50 and i already have 2 flexvold batteries 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 "me so happy"

    Could you do a review on this product for me, I sell lamps at a flea market, (indoor) that I dont have an accessible outlet. I currently have about 30 lamps, that I would like to power simultaneously, I am wondering what my run time would be if I used this as a power source. I each lamp would have a 60w led buld which uses 8w.

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  3 года назад

      Yes, it is only going to last as long as the smallest battery you run. As soon as one battery dies, the system shuts down. So it pulls the same power from each battery. If one is a compact battery, it wont last long.

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  6 лет назад +3

      You need to have 4 batteries total and it only lasts as long as the smallest battery. So you could have 3 large Flexvolt and one small compact 20 volt and it will drain all 4 at the same rate. As soon as the first one discharges, it shuts down.

    Very interesting video. Sounds like a great alternative power source than being tied to a power inverter that is plugged into a vehicle power port or hooked up to a battery. Great idea from Dewalt. Batteries are not cheap so the combined cost of the unit and the flexvolt batteries are really pushing the is it worth the money envelope though.

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  8 лет назад

      If you are into the Dewalt 20 volt line, you might already have the batteries. But if you are going into this as a single Dewalt tool, you have a great point.

    • @wildbill23c
      @wildbill23c 8 лет назад +1

      WorkshopAddict If you have the 20V line you most likely aren't buying the flexvolt stuff so in order to use the charger/inverter to its capacity you would really want to upgrade batteries at a cost that will turn many away. If you are running the 60V tools then you already have the right batteries, so this may work great, otherwise its probably not worth the additional cost to purchase, at least for home use. Jobsite use this is just about a must have, I remember being on job sites where everyone was fighting for an electrical outlet on the far end of a property and having to run 100+ feet of extension cords. This would certainly alleviate many job site power lacking problems LOL. I don't work construction anymore but I still want one of these for when I'm working on the property so I'm not running cords.

    • @ksong1496
      @ksong1496 8 лет назад +1

      Actually... That above power source is NOT flexvolt tool. Even if you connect flexvolt, it will just run as 20V.
      Using 4 5Ah batteries will give you comparable run time.

      Rick Knowlin Rick, that would be very comparable to our sump pump test. Our sump pump was 5 amps. This tool loves the on and off type tool. My estimate is that you would get a full day of jobs it's use with this.

      You could kick the compressor out too depending on what you're doing. I use DeWalt's 20V Framing and Finish guns for work and they do really well. I can go all day with the finish gun on a single 2amp battery, or almost two days on a 4amp. The only reason I pull out my compressor is for my Hardie nailer or palm nailer.
      I definitely see the huge potential for this tool and am keeping it in mind, though personally.
