I've been a fan since 1985 when I was 16, still listen to them, and will carry them with me throughout the remainder of my life ... and maybe even into the next. ❤
Yep. I saw them live 3 times and feel truly blessed to have witnessed first hand the magic in that immense voice she possesses. I think it came from an unearthly source. I still get lost in the music after all this time.
See when you get really old , like me, you get to claim them - it’s one of the few advantages of age. :) Seriously, it’s great to see younger people discover this. Great music is always great music and it belongs to everyone who appreciates it for that. Take it and make it your own, that’s what keeps it alive.
Saw them live 1994,New York city Roseland Ballroom, Liz was Stellar, she started with Pur,from 4 calendar cafe back to blue bell knoll, wonderful show, having all their cds Victorialand to milk&kisses, ethereal takes you to happiness
I just learned she sings teardrop by Massive Attack which has been one of my favorite songs for over 20 years and somehow I never knew this till now....
Ahora tengo 50 años y sigo pensando igual. Gracias Cocteau Twins.
I was in my lab at BP on the Bo’Ness road , and a girl lab tech there was a mad CT fan. She told me “one day I hope to get to the US so I can see them”…she had no idea!! I drove her around the corner to Liz and Robins old house!
I love this band since coming of age in the late 80s. Despite the cracks and Aid epidemics, most everything was still safe and innocent then because most people were brave, sane and respectful towards others.
So good to hear Liz singing live and going for it, rather than the ethereal "you get what you get" when she sings live elsewhere. I love the "thank goodness I got through that" at the end of Half-Gift 4:31🙂
All the old heads claiming this group as there’s is absolutely trash.. instead of chastising, embrace the younger people listening! Weather they’re “just passing by” or “a real fan”, grow up and be happy this music is being kept alive
It's interesting; I always felt "Golden Vein" to be a lullabye, but I was just playing it out over the piano, and the song in in the key of lullabys: A-major. Same key of Bach's "Goldberg Variations," which were comissioned by a Count Goldberg, who often could not sleep at night. Bach wrote 30 variations to a theme in A major. Bach chose that key for the lullabye. Also, The Cure's "Lullabye" is also in the key of A. I see the A note as an indigo blue, and as an fat oval shape (whereas B-flat is a tall, thin oval, and purple in color. Prince's "Purple Rain" was written in purple). ruclips.net/video/JjFMh1k9FHw/видео.html (one of my visual note-to-color analysis' here on uTube for those interested)
She is not lip syncing, one of the very few tiny mistakes she makes is when she breathes on the mic and you can hear it (she also says something audible down the mic right at the end of the first song unless you think for some reason that's on the recording and she lip synced that as well). She is just so technically impressive that you have mistaken it for lip syncing. Please don't claim things as fact without double checking first.
@@mattelliottmusic yeah and one of the reasons they never went on TOTP was because they refused to lip sync so I don't know why they'd make an exception for MTV lol, definitely not lip syncing. Too much class.

I have been a fan since about 1985 too. I was 15 when I discovered them. My 16 year old daughter now loves them. I love it.
Same
I was 23 in 1988. Bought 'Pink Opaque' on cd after reading a review in Spin magazine. A treasured purchase.
Love each and every song of theirs, but Golden Vein is their most angelical spiritual song of theirs and all time. It bursts me into tears.
Fraser sounds (and looks) amazing here.
One of the best Cocteau Twins songs right here.
You can tell who are Cocteau Twins fans here and who is just passing through. I’ve listed to them for 35 years, seen them live. Magical.
I've been a fan for 36 years, so I must be a bigger fan I guess...Math.
@@justinbiggs3513 You’ve got me beat! It’s a bit crazy that I have listened to them for so long!
41 years and still going strong. But never saw them live which burns a whole in my soul.

Kinda weird that you feel ownership over this. I wasn't born then so clearly that rules me out

Still got my “cancelled” gig ticket for the UEA norwich in 1983……..£2.50 and never even bothered with the refund ! ❤️
This reminds me of younger days. As soon as I hear her voice, I'm transported back in time.
More sublime over time....
Not half-gifts, FULL-GIFTS.

Lo que
She's always amazing.
Not on FFC tour, she herself stated that she wished that tour had never happened
she's so mad, interesting, other-worldly, inspirational.
Silly comment
The mix on this is awesome. One of their performances on Jools was mixed horribly and you could barely hear LIz. She sounds amazing here.
i should've asked my mother to give birth to me a little bit earlier so that i hadn't missed this live😂
The whole group is simply amazing!
So beautiful, but so so sad.
Perfect performance
Magical
stunning vocals as usual, thanks for putting this up
she's amazing 💫
My Mum n Dad are from Grangemouth❤

Achingly beautiful voice.
just so incredibly blissful

Crime rate is half of what it was back then, at least it is in the USA.
Beautiful as ever, for ever.
Melted
03:26 I hear Leonard Cohen - Suzanne. I have four of their LPs.
Absolutely beautiful voice and performance 😊❤️🌈🎼🎶
Wow I know why I love them so much now xx
Неожиданая подборка, как всегда восхитительно.
Flawless. Exquisite.

Brilliant

So wonderful😢
Fantastic!
All my love 💖
Que hermosura !!!
Cuando mtv invitaba a bandas de culto y era un honor , antes de q se pudran como lo q son ahora.
Calladito calladito calladito
Thanx for uploading
Love this song .
exquisite
The jovial intro belies the gutting thus commenced.
Wow!
The worlds longest running band ???? ????? ?????
LF does the best female vocal performance of the decade then goes 'woops.' 🤷🏻♂️😁
Oh my god what a beautiful Christmas day treat. Wow. Greatist band ever.
I think Half Gifts and Rilkean Heart I believe are about her break up with Jeff Buckley.
The album Milk & Kisses was named after something Buckley said to Liz. Their relationship is all over the album.
They're so beautiful.
❤
😊☺️😊☺️😊😚😘🥰😍🤩🥳
I always like them, though they were a bit pretentious when I was little kid . Maby coz I always like what she singing about
