Joe I am modeling now in On30 and since you have Narrow Gauge experience what tips do you have. I am doing a Freelance road inspired by the actual Kansas Central Railroad/ Kansas Central Railway/ Leavenworth, Kansas and Western Railroad. It was a road that ran from Leavenworth, KS to Miltonvale, KS in the 1870s and 1880s as a 3 foot gauge road and from the 1990s to the 1930s as a standard gauge one. My model will be located in Shawnee and Osage counties of Kansas during the coal mining era from the mid-1860s to the early-1960s. I won't have much in grades nor tunnels to worry about, but this part of Kansas even then was wooded along the creeks and rivers and there are hills ranging from 900 to the 1100 feet above sea level here.
Hi, sound good, your idea. I don’t know much about this area, because I’m from Germany … so everything what inspires me comes from pics or videos and books, I spent a quick time in the Us and rode the two narrow gauge museum trains in Colorado … that’s it, everything else is freestyle and my fantasy… a good start is a story how the fictive railroad can work and what type of fright they haul… that’s the beginning … I’m a railroader in real , so I know a lot about the daily grind on the railway line in Germany was a train diver in the 90’ and now I work on a German museum steam locomotive …. Good luck with your project 👍🏻
@@joeseufert9959 Thank you Joe. I do have a back history for my railroad. It evolved the more I learned about my state's railroad and mining history. I already knew that the southeastern corner had coal, lead and zinc mines. I learned that the coal fields actually stretched north into the counties around the state's Capital City, Topeka. At the moment I am going to repurpose a frame originally build for a copy of the Jerome and Southwestern model railroad. This is a 4x8 table layout. But my living situation may change all that. The model may be built sectional/ modular with manageable modules. I could be moving from a single family home where I had been helping my elderly mother into a 1 bedroom apartment.
Very impressive layout, looks amazing. The variety of rolling stock is superb, the articulated brass 2-6-6-2 Mallet? at the end is stunning. Did you build those brass locos? Thoroughly enjoyed that upload, I'm a fan of HOn3, HOe and 009 narrow gauge, and the larger On30 too. Subbed to your channel. All the best. Brian @ The Angels.
Thank you for the nice comment, the brass are imported locos, I restore and customize them, add decoders and sound… so it’s fun to keep the trains rolling👍🏻
Loved it all! Im 74. I know times were rough but would like to have been there! Thanks,Joe
