    Well deserved as well. He displayed his all round talent immediately, and was a true display of the behaviour of the Lakota people. A superb cast helped.

      The book that it came from had a sequel, and the movie basically wrapped up the entire second book at the end with the epilogue writing "they surrendered 13 years later". There's even more to the story since a sequel won't be had:
      Dances With Wolves ends up with 3 kids with Stands With A Fist, and they are in a mix of Comanche and Sioux tribes. Dances With Wolves, Blue Turtle, and Wind In His Hair are all on either a retaliation attack or something else, and Wind In His Hair gets killed. Dances With Wolves gets shot in his shoulder area and dies, leaving Stands With A Fist and their 3 kids. It's actually more tragic than the end of the first movie.

I heard Cosner walked off The Untouchables for 3 days and later upon return Clint Eastwood said “ if you pull that shit again I will use your double”. I agree Clint

    I saw this Oscar winning movie in the movie theater in 1990 and now recently and so many things just don’t holdup?
    - We barely get a backstory on his character. A White American Union solider becomes an Indian, immediately following the Civil War.
    - How convenient that a white woman was rescued by this tribe of Indians for his character to fall in love with & marry is giving old Hollywood “Hayes Codes”.
    - Today, we get most realistic stories like Martin Scorsese’s new film “Killers of the Flower Moon People”.
    - Most Americans are taught absolutely nothing about the Indian Wars that followed the Civil War. Custer’s Last Stand and Sitting Bull might sound familiar.
    - The expansion or invasion out West is what followed. The USA.Gov rendering many of their treaties with the Indians worthless and displacing these people onto Reservations.
    - There is still so many stories left to be told about the First Nation of people.
    - Today, we get both white and black Americans wanting to claim or erase our heritage.
    - These Candace Owens of the world, saying Indians sat around just getting high all the time and then committed cannibalism. If by high, she might have reference how we taught the colonizers about “tobacco”. A crop that proof to be extremely profitable. We grew tobacco without having to enslave Africans
    - However, the question at hand, was why we recognized “two spirit” people, which the young people call “trans”.
    - Well, If you live long enough, you learn when it comes to human emotions, “Nothing is new under the Sun.. just called by a different name”.

    • @TrueEnglishMan01
      @TrueEnglishMan01 10 месяцев назад

      All great points but I think it was a well-intentioned step forward at the time. Portraying the US Army truthfully as brutal colonisers wasn’t the norm back then. But yes, it is still a white saviour movie

      DWW had legendary cinematography and didn't have a "white savior" complex. It actually balanced the barbarism and peacefulness of the Native tribes, and the miscommunication between the Americans and the Natives. The movie gets better with each viewing personally. I'm younger than the movie itself, was born in '99.
