  • Loot tracking is a great way to figure out how much gold and how many materials you’re accumulating while playing Guild Wars 2. You don’t NEED to track your loot to amass a lot of gold, but it certainly is helpful in figuring out how to prioritize different activities. To help with loot tracking, we have third party websites and tools that do the annoying stuff for you. In this video, we look at 2 great options for loot tracking in Guild Wars 2. GW2Efficiency offers an easy option that’s adequate for superficial tracking and satisfying your curiosities. DRF offers a high-quality option for both loot tracking AND data collection, but will require you to spend a little time up front to set it up. For players that really want to get into farming or drop research, I HIGHLY recommend getting DRF.

gw2 effi does way more than tracking loot, it tracks activities you can do, account value, liquid gold(wich is mb the most important aspect of the player economy) and is a solid helper for conversions. This tool helped me immensely understand this clusterfuck of a game. Your tool is good if you want to fine grain activities as you go, like for example you commander a meta train and try a new road to optimize returns.

DRF shines for data collection. Finding out the profit of processing different items etc.

Man, thanks a bunch for posting this! I was looking into building a loot tracker about a year ago when I realised the Official API that other trackers like GW2E and Fast Farming Tracker use has some bizarre quirks meaning it can take FOREVER to update your loot, sometimes. My hacked-together solution was to build a tool that screengrabbed the loot as it scrolled past and used OCR to read the names, but it suffered from dropping the FPS quite a bit to keep running, had issues reading the names if the background was incorrect, and it could easily break if you opened too much at once. I dropped the project and theorised that you'd have to interact with the game memory directly like with a Blish plugin, but I wasn't about to start yet another side project to try and get that to work, so put it on the "one day" pile. I'm really happy to see someone else pull through and create DRF, it looks incredibly slick. I can't wait to get started grabbing the loot data I wanted to a year ago for (yet another) project (lol).
Great content as always - keep it up!

FYI: BlishHUD is one of the few that doesn’t read the game memory

@@felixw841 That's cool to know - I honestly didn't read too much into how it worked at the time, just some basic assumptions based on what I could see.

@@Silent002I thought accessing game memory through add-ons is a bannable offense and that's why both Blish and TacO are just overlays

Does DRF track how many mistborn keys have been used during the session? I am trying to figure out a way to track the amount of keys used daily as the 100 is the daily recommended amount since after that the loot decreases from chests.

Did everything the instructions told me to for this website, doesn't work at all. Either get account not linked, or it's linked and just doesn't show any loot. I'll stick with Blish even if it's slow

Things that bothers me and why I can't install it:
    a) I wasn't able to find any mention of their source code. Or how exactly the dll works. Only non detailed "here is your loot".
    b) they are running server that you connect to for free, they run it from their own pockets? There are no ads.
They can be genuine or they could include malware in the dll and with "uploading" the drops to the dashboard mask its activity. :/ Otherwise looks like great tool, especially to verify those fast farming site eu g/hr claims. :)

Good idea, but definitly not efficient, i'm always minus profit when i use "Piece of unidentified Gears". Material doesn't get currency convertion so it's always a flat minus of the Salve-o-minus.
I like to track when investing / opening thing, which i can't here.

There are more upgrades planned, although I'm not sure what or when those will be. When it comes to container opening, the purpose is more to record inputs and outputs, then use the data to make a spreadsheet that gives average outputs. It's definitely not something most people will use it for.

@@abree107 Oh nice, well in Path of Exile, we have a thirdparty named "Exilence Next" and it's insane, it take track of loot(of the session per exemple with a reset button).
You can Filter a with price per units or global price per stack so you can filter out dirt stuff what you will never bother selling and co.

I`ve been playing GW2 since 2015 and never bothered to track my loot. And don`t have any plans to do it now.
I am just enjoying the game for what it is, doing meta events that are fun instead of min-maxing farm rate.

Some people really like different aspects of the game. I could say the same thing about someone like GuildMM or many streamers. Just because people like to play differently and enjoy certain nerdier parts of the game, doesn't make it a job.
But even if it was a job, maybe people enjoy that lol.

The idea is to make it easier to farm efficiently. This means in the end, it's supposed to be LESS work than blindly go farming wherever and just guess of it was worth it. If you need a lot of gold to buy gems or legendaries, this can make a huge difference in the long run. In case you think it doesn't help you with that and is just cumbersome, stop using it. I'm going to try it out and just see.
