Thanks for posting. Hard to get any good DIY info on these first gen tundras. I’ve done plenty of cutting and soldering but haven’t messed with ignition wires before. Wish the video was complete start to finish but I think you covered most of the unique aspects of this install and liked seeing some of your techniques that I will start using.
Using your video I was able to install a remote start with keyless entry on my 2001 Tundra! Pretty sweet using a remote to get in instead of a key, and now I can remote start on these cold winter days 😎. Do you happen to have the color of the parking lights wire on hand? Ended up skipping that since I didn’t want to cut into a bunch of wires without having something specific to work for. Thanks for the video!
@@securetalk I didn’t use a relay or a tach wire. Under the steering column should have all the applicable ignition, constant, acc, starter, etc. wires minus the parking lights and a ground. Colors in other comments were accurate for my Tundra ChatGPT seems to think the parking wire should be green/white. Haven’t looked further into this yet myself.
I'm so glad you decided to put music in your video because I'm having a horrible time with getting my parking lights to go off on my 4runner. The only way they go off is when I turn my headlights on but when I shut them off they turn back on and yes the switch is off all the way, it's not on the MARKer light position and there is no daytime running lights. I have the pinky amber bulbs that are only supposed to come on when you use the automatic car starter. If you use the key none of the lights are supposed to turn on unless I turn them on. But now my marker/turn signal lights are always on no matter if I do key or auto starter. The only way to shut off is the way they are supposed to be on when turning on your headlights. So being that I'm having a horrible situation and day besides my rig. It wouldn't be fitting if I could actually hear wtf you are trying to say as it is but thankfully you added music so I definitely can't hear any useful information that would be helpful so I can get pissed off and make a small problem into a very big and expensive problem. So I’ve done everything you did in this video which by the way is awesome but for some reason when I turn my key off the truck doesn’t shut off and yes I have a 2006 Toyota Tundra
That sounds to me like it’s not recognizing the break shut down. The way to test that is to remote start it and then hit the break after about 60 seconds of it running and that should shut the vehicle off if the brake trigger is working properly.
You will have to test the wires, but if you’re looking for a positive trigger headlight wire, it should be in the driver kick panel green wire, 14 pin plug. or you can grab them at the headlight switch green wire as well but it is a negative trigger once again, please test the wires.

you mention if i heard it right a "HOOD PEN"? what is a "HOOD PEN"? (you said that "somebody might start the vehicle with the remote start active?) pls advice...thanks
The hood pin Usher's that the hood is closed at all time or the remote start will not work it is just a pin switch that when the hood is closed it pushes down not creating any kind of ground then when the hood is open it pushes up creating or ground telling the remote start not to start it's a safety feature so if somebody is working on the vehicle it will not allow them to accidentally start the vehicle with the key fob in their pocket or something of that nature

You doing on the computer via whatever website of the bypass module you are using.
you mention if i heard it right a "HOOD PEN"? what is a "HOOD PEN"? (you said that "somebody might start the vehicle with the remote start active?) pls advice...thanks
The hood pin Usher's that the hood is closed at all time or the remote start will not work it is just a pin switch that when the hood is closed it pushes down not creating any kind of ground then when the hood is open it pushes up creating or ground telling the remote start not to start it's a safety feature so if somebody is working on the vehicle it will not allow them to accidentally start the vehicle with the key fob in their pocket or something of that nature
Why wouldn't you use a t harness. Isn't it easier.
I wish the words were larger so I could see nothing.
What is the difference between the brain!!??? There are so many different ones which one is the newest and best 😩
Yes you are correct I personally like all of the Compustar products I think they are the best they are the leader in all automotive security and remote starts DEI which owns viper was purchased by audio box and not only that I think Compustar has the best tech-support if you need that service
What a poor video! Needs more detail kill the dam music. Better video filming
I'm glad you liked it!!
Great video. Just had a hard time understanding the verbiage. Music didn't help. Still good video. 👍
I have a 06 Toyota tundra. Do I have to wire in the locks? I still would like to retain the factory fob. Only plan to use remote start during winter months.
Good day do you know if that tundra has a factory security system?
