I am an Indian born in Bhutan even studied there till grade four as my parents were teachers there. I have loved the country...the beauty.. the culture ..the people and their friendly nature ..nice food...nice vegetables n yummy fresh fruits
I have always been fascinated by Bhutan's culture and people. Their people-centric government policies are awesome and worth emulating by all countries of the world. I am Indian by the way. Now I am drooling over their food. 😍 Love you, Bhutan. 💗💗💗
« The whole world loves Bhutan »... like “The whole world loves Canada” -which is why so MANY *White* Americans travel with the maple leaf somewhere on their clothes... because they were told most people don’t like Americans ? PS: I wrote “told” but sometimes, too often it is actually “taught”. PPS: To those who think “It’s just about food, get out with your political opinions”, I just want to say: food is culture. *Food IS political* . You just took the time to think about it, or not. Same with racism. Same with equal rights (male / female). Anthony Bourdain was a master in that. Just read the reactions when someone dared criticizing American burgers (Mark had a burger in Bhutan).
This series of videos from Bhutan have been excellent.. This is a place I'd never heard of before and I'm so glad you have been able to really showcase what Bhutan looks like (absolutely breathtaking) , the culture and of course the food!! Everyone seems to be very friendly from this area, it's also nice to see that someone preserving the traditional form of cooking. I 100% agree with you on the wooden bowls, they are beautiful! Thank you Mark and Ying for this experience! ☺️
I visited Bhutan so many times, specially staying at a place which is only one hour drive from Funtsholing. Tried some of their dishes but this feast is giving me travell goals!!
I've actually been to a border town in Bhutan. ❤️❤️ The people are nice and warm. I miss binging on DRUK beers 😂😂 with my friends. Watching this brought back many memories. Planning to visit this winter again. 👍🏻👍🏻
Food apart, the hospitality looks awesome from the settled table to the amount of respect presented by the people (host). I am doing my college presentation on Bhutan. Your videos helps me to know Bhutan from culinary side. Like it so far!
I cannot believe my favourite foodie blogger has visited my country. We Bhutanese just love chillies and cheese. Thanks to you... we get to be connected with our cuisine away from home. Love all your videos and appreciate your passion
Again, great video! Thank you for sharing your experience Mark! most of us don't travel much, by sharing your videos gives us an experience, better understanding of Bhutan cuisine, and of of course makes us hungry haha.
Mark , u know what , it’s so polite + impressive from your part that you adjust and fraternize so easily with the people of different cultures. God bless u ! We all should take a lesson from this guy how to respect different people n earn respect for self .
my days are awesome. it's because of this wonderful guy. thnx Mark. everything about u is awesome. so many things are there to learn from you. god bless
the best thing is .. you tasted what they have in their menu.. no matter how many places you go no matter how the food dishes maybe quite similar but the stories varies... but it is what they have there pure and simple as that. It is good to know the full extend of your visit there with every video presented. Thanks
Many of you are complaining that Mark is unauthentic when it comes to rating the food he eats by displaying the same facial expressions and always smiling....but I think he is just being respecful and polite considering the fact that the owner is sitting next to him.
Glad you are showing some vegetarian things without cheese. Although I like cheese, I cannot eat it everyday. When it's too much cheese, my digestion says Yak.
I've eaten here it was amazing! to see all the different traditional vegetables they use from mountains. They use chilli as a vegetable and it is in everything! unless you ask for no chilli, and then they think your insane!!! lol I LOVE Bhutan :)
A fascinating video of a cuisine I have never heard about before. Please forgive my ignorance, I am very much into Mughlai cuisine and Northern I Indian, Pakistani, Nepali, Tibetan, Bangladeshi.
Grew up eating paksha seekum/ shkam with churi / and all the dachi. Glad u enjoyed it. Living out of bht we use all kinds of cheese to make the dachi. Pumkin / brinjal dachis too are great....
I see some people complaining about the repetitiveness of this series, but honestly, I feel that most of the other series (especially the japanese and southern thai) have that as well. But I like that, because you really get a chance to get to know a certain regions approach to food. Some repetition is nescessary, because you can see the minor variations between dishes. What I like about this Bhutan series in particular is that it showcases how cooks handle the limited resources of a mountain region, as opposed to for example Indonesia, where anything goes, pretty much.
Mark when you come to the Philippines, come and visit my mom's eatery in Cavite! We serve Filipino food (obviously) and not just cuisines from Cavite but from other places too. 😊
Hey Mark . My family and I love watching your videos . We love see I g your wife Hi g and your son Mikah . May the Lord richly bless you all . Love from Trinidad and Tobago , West Indies .
Taste "woody", Mark meant it wasn't good tasting, the cook was right there so he had to say that. he was being respectful to her and being kind. No reason to be mean or ugly, even if it taste like a fermented Bhutanese fart, lol!! We understood what he was saying to those who know his ways, when he enjoys something.
well mark doesnt ever say anything negative about his food in general - in the presence of the chef or not. can't really say that 'woody' is a negative comment when people, especially mark, love to use 'earthy' to describe food. it might be a mature taste, and, at the very least, he might appreciate it.
Wow! The food looks awesome! We should be eating more of food like that! Unspoiled, not processed, and no preservatives, it is healthy. The buckwheat is good for the diabetes!!!
That probably was the most organic Mark Wien's ever been to.........So good and pure.........Bhutan has done so well to preserve everything. Thank god they got rid of the clans |(in good time) that could have destroyed the little haven.
Eating with the help of your fingers is the most enjoyable way of having dinner. And now I learned to clean your hands with cooked rice. Hey Mark great vid. Love it.

I know Bhutan is one of the happiest country in the world. It think it is because the government ask the people, if they are happy with their lives or not and they try to show concern for the needs of their citizens. Most of them agree that keeping their traditional and cultural identity gives them happiness and I would agree as well. I love how you shot the food videos in Bhutan!
