I’ve been watching as many episodes I can find since the announcement of Joes passing , Rest in Power Joe, thank you for making Saturday mornings pretty cool 😢💪
The 80's and 90's truly were the dark days for performance. I love the comments from people who simply do not understand that there were no options back then.
those tbi manifolds where known to be a stock replacement. Had one on my 1992 5.7 TBI motor with headers, chip and cat back exhaust. Little to no gain.
Yup, TBI engines are a turd, but they were built with longevity and driveability in mind. Mostly any aftermarket parts made for these were worthless, a waste of money. Too bad they weren't at least a 4 barrel tbi setup from the factory, but at that point, you may as well swap over to the TPI setup. Probably not much better, but these were archaic injection systems.
$900 for 20 HP!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Money well spent!!! Yes! Indeed! 😂😂😂😂 The sad thing is, I remember watching this crap as a kid and thinking the same thing!!! 1978-2002, performance was a joke!!
I know the 89 Mustang 5.0 put out 225HP and 300lbs/ft of torque. I'd say that's a little more than these TBI setups which weren't obviously designed for HP.
considering that they spent $900 he would say they came through with flying colors? For 155 ground horse power up almost 20 hp? Worst money spent ever.
@@sherlockholmes60 300 hp is still a decent amount of power. My 5.3L Silverado is plenty quick. But people can barely handle 300 and would probably kill themselves with one of the modern street cars with real high power. Coyote Mustang, Corvette, Hellcat, etc.
Sure love these old episodes with Chuck and Joe. Reminds me of my youth watching these guys. Those days and guys were the best.

That 70 Trans-AM looks badass brother and it looks a million times better than that red 80s Firebird that has all the cheap plastic cladding on it.
Man I miss these guys, and the show. So great I can see them here!

I was looking forward to seeing that after horsepower numbers but after your comment never mind
@@stevejohnson1397 Sorry for the spoiler.
I got one sitting on the floor of my basement. Worst $ I ever spent. Just run a standard 4bbl performer with a TBI adapter.
@@geoffws6 What's even a bigger kick is I figured, at least I'll lose some weight and have an aluminum intake. Stoke ones aluminum painted black. 😂😂😂

Oldie but goodie. Firebird would be a swap out today but nothing wrong with keeping the little 305 for cruising
I remember going to Race Rock years ago!
I thought you were going to work on a Pontiac, but nope a cheviac. Oh well. So much for getting my hopes up.
Make me laugh that's not just a tune up and all for 20 hp extra
finally an episode without stone cold steve austin
Agreed
Holy shit… no wonder the 5.0 mustangs used to mop the floor with the Camaros/firebirds… 136 😒
Mustangs made less... but lighter...
@@BuzzLOLOL not true. 5 liter EFI mustang put down about 180-190, bone stock.

A 300.00 No2 kit would of been a better option.
I would think the foam on the outside of the air filter would restrict flow . that's why I run a K&N
The problem with Pontiacs were cast cranks and weak rods. Only the 389 and 421 had forged cranks.
I know. I think forge steel crankshaft
Would be nice
cat back exhaust doesn't do crap. go with headers, high flow cats or no cats, h-pipe or x-pipe, performance mufflers.
They use the parts that are donated...

LOL! Donated parts...
and how to spend a other $900 on exaust systeme for a 20hp maybe !
Was Chuck an Indian?
Feathered or Dotted
Feathered! I just get that vibe from him.
Wow have things changed. 130hp from a V8. Sad sad days.
Shit, I remember thinking 300hp was insane back then. Dark days for sure.

Since when is a new HiPo manifold part of a 'tune up'? SMH . . .
When parts are donated...
