- This is the first trailer of my new upcoming music & travel movie.
Yesterday I returned from my 9-day travel north to Lake Ladoga - the largest fresh-water lake in Europe.
It was may first long solo travel where I stayed all alone on three desolated islands. One of my goals was to compose, play and record music in these wild off-the-grid conditions.
I was limited with space and weight because most of the way I paddled a kayak. That’s why I took only one instrument with me - Soma Terra. I also had Hologram Microcosm with me and good old trusty Zoom 4Hn to record music and ambience.
All the powering was done with a number of portable power banks.
I shot video with two cameras - Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K and GoPro10.
Awesome!!
Looking forward to it immensely!
Thanks, Doc! It will take some time though to edit these 6+ hours of footage))
A very cool trailer with an incredible atmosphere, footage and amazing sound. I'm really looking forward to a film about this sonic (and not only) journey.
That sounds awesome and I'm looking forward to the whole thing. 🙌👍👍
Thanks! It will take some time to make it - 6 hours of video to edit)))
Did you actually record the music whilst you were in the kayak on the water?! I hope you have some good insurance! 😊
I love the idea of going out into the wilderness to shoot a video like this! And I love meditative ambient music and video! Can't wait to see it! 👍☺️
Thanks! Exactly, Harald! The music you here in this video was recorded (as well as composed and played) right in my kayak. It was a very interesting experience I've been waiting for a long time. One of my ideas was to try Soma Terra's inbuilt gyroscope that controls pitch bend and alters some other sound characteristics of the instrument. I hoped it would sound prety much natural due to the fact - waves that roll the kayak ARE natural) It did.
Well I had no insurance for sure, but I was really very careful! I don't think instruments should stay home and be covered with dust - they should inspire us playing and sometimes doing crazy athings :)
