Hey whoever is reading this, I just took my TSI Math Portion and passed!!! So I would like to give you guys some tips on my experience on taking the test and what my actual test was like..... 1. The TSI Math Test is a 25 question test. Some people will tell you I’m wrong and that it’s really about 60 questions, but here is how the test works. The first 25 questions is the ACTUAL TSI test. If you fail the 25 question portion, the test will restart without telling you, and you will start from 0 to 45 questions. So what ever you do, FOCUS SUPER HARD ON THE FIRST 25! 2. The TSI math test is a progressive test, meaning the more answers you get right, the harder the questions will get; and the more questions you got wrong, the easier the test will get. My instructor told me and my test mates this and it is true. I would realize I got a pay question wrong because the next one would be abruptly a whole lot easier then the last one. 3. EVERYONES TEST IS DIFFERENT. No matter what it is everyone has different questions. 4. Now for probably the most helpful part, the questions. For the most part, most of the questions dealt with algebra. I did not see a single a question that had to with the area of a circle, or circumference/diameter. Although everyone’s test is different so at least have the knowledge. I had only 1 word problem. To be honest at least 5 of my questions were for Example: if x-8 over x, what is x? A lot of those questions were like that. I also got a problem dealing with ratios, for example: if 4 is to 5, what is 10? A lot of my problems dealt with algebra. One of the easiest questions I got was: what is (a+b)(a-b)? Or 2x+3=7? Also I only got one question discussing median. So make sure you touch up on what mean, median, range, and mode. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT YOUR TEST WILL MORE THAN LIKELY BE DIFFERENT THAN MINE. 5. YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO STUDY FOR THIS TEST. Do not expect to pass if you did not study. I studied about a week before the test for about 2 to 3 hours a day, and if I didn’t, I would’ve failed. Some of the equations I’ve seen from this video I used on the test which helped me get the answer correct. So take the time to study or your probably gonna fail and pay 50$ just to take it again. 6. I know I already said this but again, the first 25 questions is THE ACTUAL TSI, so take as much time as you need to either certify that your answer is correct or enough information to make a educated guess. It took me an 1 hour to finish the test so it took me about 4 min to complete each question. SO TAKE YOUR TIME ON THE FIRST 25. CAUSE THATS WHAT MATTER. 7. So you may ask yourself “ so then what are the other 45 questions for?” The other questions are to see which math remidal courses you should take for college. So again, try your best in the first 25. 8. Another thing that helped me is that on a piece of paper I wrote down useful formulas and studied them. So as soon as we got are scratch paper and started the test, the formulas were fresh in my Mind, so I wrote them down on my scratch paper. (Such as FOIL, or the Midpoint formula). I helped this helps you guys last your test !! I just graduated from high school and gonna attend a university so this was also new to me. Let me know if this helped. Good Luck!!!
i honestly think this test is a way for colleges in texas to make more money off of students. I understand its a placement test and it is helping the student know where they are. This is just ridiculous that you would have to pay for remedial classes that start at 200 a class if your test scores arent high enough. I get both sides but i believe there should be an free alternative instead of forcing students to pay for extra classes and stay in school longer

I just got back from my TSI testing and I got to say this is the best review. My score was a 355 after 3 tries. By watching the whole video before testing refreshed my knowledge and that’s what helped me.
I had taken the tsi twice and failed them, taken the TSIA2 once and didn’t make it. This was my last chance to pass the TSIA2 with how many chances they give you at school. When I tell you that i was nervous, I seriously couldn’t stop thinking about it.. I felt so ashamed and a bit dumb because i’ve been in all AP and Pre-Ap classes all of my life, and i felt that if i couldn’t even approach 950 on the math TSIA2, then how could i even consider myself college ready? I prepped with this video and a few others to prepare me for today, and I cannot express how much appreciation I have for these dedicated teachers and mathematicians alike who help students by giving them tips and tricks for how to go through questions. I just got out of my test for the TSIA2, and did not pass with a 950, Instead, I had passed with a 970. If any of you are reading this comment before your TSI test, TAKE YOUR TIME, trust the process, STUDY, and relax. Seriously take time to read the questions and ask yourself what the question is really asking for, use common sense and memorize formulas like the quadratic formula, midpoint formula, distance formula, circle formulas, factors in trinomials, etc. If you follow most of these simple things, you’re guaranteed to pass. I believe in you, so believe in yourself. You got this!
It's honestly discouraging to practice and fail. For the college I'm trying to enroll in, you have to pay $29 for math, reading, and writing. If you like to retest, it's an additional $10. It's ridiculous because I've retested for math and reading 4x in total. It's frustrating so much money wasted and belief that you'll pass or not. I hope to pass soon, because deadline is coming up in a week or soon. Wish me luck!

@@flightreactsburner3609 the test is 3 parts. Math, english/language arts, and an essay that has to have good grammar and punctuation. ELAR portion is easy, but the math is difficult if you don't know what to study for. Im developing a training program for the fire department I work for to pass in 2 weeks. The first two times I took the TSI without this video I got a 337 & 345. I watched this whole video before bed and took the TSI on Friday and made a 354! The stuff in this video is a great brain refresher from previous classes!!

Hey guys! I just took my tsi and I passed! If anyone is interested on what’s in the tsi it’s mostly factoring I got like 5 of those, 1 probability, about 2 geometry like solving for X on the sides of the triangle, there was one of line equations, a word problem and the rest were like solving for X and algebraic expression but in a fraction form!
Ahamedi Ndenza yes! After you pass the first 20 you pass the test. If more questions pop up after the 20 you have failed. Those extra questions are just to show you what you need help in

its not just about teachers that you found this video help though but i believe its because your class is crowded and loud that you cant focus while on this video you are learning alone and your focus is on the topic alone
next week would be the 4th time im retaking the test. my last score was 347! it broke my heart and im about to give up school because i studied really hard 3 hours in the morning 3 hours at night a total of 6 hours a day and yet i failed. i hope by purchasing this book i would finally pass!

6:17 the way she solved this took too much time. an hour and 10 mins = 7/6 hour an hour and a half = 3/2 hour the total amount of time will be 8/3 S=90x3:8= 33,74 => C This way I think it is much faster.

I take my test tomorrow and I’m nervous because I never had great, supportive math teachers that taught well. I also have my college orientation in a few weeks and that’s when I’ll start doing my schedule and I really don’t want to have to pay for a beginners math course. artsy matizando I haven’t received my scores yet but I’m pretty sure I didn’t pass :/ after you finish the first 20 and have zero questions left, it means you passed but if you have 48 more, that means your score wasn’t college ready. Sadly, I had to take the 48. The video did help though! I think I just got confused with my symbols.

Well I just got the materials for the TSI math and I’m scared. I took it once and I failed miserably, so much that they couldn’t place me in developmental courses. Missed it by 2 points. This video does seem to help make it less tense. Pray I do well!!

But in question 2, if he was going 33.75 mph that means that in an hour and a half he would’ve traveled 50.62 miles, but if he was going at 30mph he would’ve traveled exactly 45 miles.

Hey guys! I just took my tsi and I passed! If anyone is interested on what’s in the tsi it’s mostly factoring I got like 5 of those, 1 probability, about 2 geometry like solving for X on the sides of the triangle, there was one of line equations, a word problem and the rest were like solving for X and algebraic expression but in a fraction form!
What happened if u passed the first 20 question does that mean we pass the test and don't need the next 48 questions?
Ahamedi Ndenza yes! After you pass the first 20 you pass the test. If more questions pop up after the 20 you have failed. Those extra questions are just to show you what you need help in

I take my test tomorrow and I’m nervous because I never had great, supportive math teachers that taught well. I also have my college orientation in a few weeks and that’s when I’ll start doing my schedule and I really don’t want to have to pay for a beginners math course. artsy matizando I haven’t received my scores yet but I’m pretty sure I didn’t pass :/ after you finish the first 20 and have zero questions left, it means you passed but if you have 48 more, that means your score wasn’t college ready. Sadly, I had to take the 48. The video did help though! I think I just got confused with my symbols.

Well I just got the materials for the TSI math and I’m scared. I took it once and I failed miserably, so much that they couldn’t place me in developmental courses. Missed it by 2 points. This video does seem to help make it less tense. Pray I do well!!

Just took the test. If you fail the first 20 math questions, they give you a 2nd chance with a math test with 60 questions. Easy, don’t stress!

But in question 2, if he was going 33.75 mph that means that in an hour and a half he would’ve traveled 50.62 miles, but if he was going at 30mph he would’ve traveled exactly 45 miles.

Why does it have to be 390 yards for question 1# if sides are all supposed to be equal isnt it supposed to be 150+150+30+30=360?
