The Amtrak "Empire Builder" that runs from Chicago to Seattle is really nice. It also runs through my home of North Dakota and through Montana, so you get to see at least in my opinion some of the best views in the USA. The Great Plains are beautiful and the mountains of Montana are too. I'd highly recommend it.
Eh, we definitely lack non-air long distance public transportation. God forbid I want to visit another city without having to drive hours in my own car and paying the gas

That is SUCH a good idea! Efficient use of space to keep the cost down, plus privacy and the opportunity to lay flat and sleep. On sleeper trains in the UK you have the choice of a budget price reclining seat (very uncomfortable and almost impossible to sleep), or a very expensive cabin (comfortable but… expensive!). I think maybe in the west we have a cultural aversion to sleeping “on the floor”.

In Russia, we have 2 kinds of sleepers: 1) normal "coupés" (cabins), with 4 or 2 seats (known as "SV", for some reason, now also available with showers), the second type is, of course, more expensive; 2) "Platzcard" - somewhat similar to this one: there're no doors, only two tiers of benches to sleep on. Historically, solo female travelers preferred it for safety reasons, but now you can choose from all-female or mixed "coupés"
Certainly better than the Indonesian trains I've been on. Then again, ticket prices are a fifth (a first class ticket cost me around 200,000 IDR, which is roughly 1,800 yen).
What a beautiful train. Gorgeous. My favorite parts: the simplicity of the bunks, the open layout that lets a lot of light through leading to a calm atmosphere, the timed shower room, the bathroom cleaning feature post a shower. fantastic.
Me as well. The US has a lot of natural beauty (thank you, President Roosevelt, and your various national parks initiatives). Would be simply amazing to be able to cruise gently along on a train to soak in the sights, skirting the borders of the national parks as you travel from city to city, state to state.
So true. Our people's lack of civic sense is the reason for our country not having any clean amenities. We do not know how to responsibly take care of our surroundings🤦♂️
Well there are many trains lile that here as well but People like u don't even deserve it , complaining all the time , letting ur country down telling lies while having no civic sense.
It's interesting, watching this. I lived in Japan for 2 years in the late 80s, and often took trains to get around (although I never went as far as this train). I always liked the vibe of train rides. Usually quite peaceful and calming. In the late 80s, though, most of us didn't have cell phones and certain other conveniences. Little need to charge anything, but also had to track a train's progress with maps, timekeeping, and observation.

This was just what I needed this morning - a peaceful ride on a sleeper train and some gorgeous views! Your minimalist videos are wonderful, it's like closing my eyes after one of my own train journeys and going back through the highlights of the journey's memories.

Как в таком вагоне ехать с детьми к примеру ? У на бы такой шум стоял , все бы орали , дети бегают , кричат , плачут , много пьяных ... А тут тихо, спокойно, чисто, цивильно .

Dude, you can get a foam pillow....wrap it up real tight to get the air out, secure it with cooking twine if needed. Put it in your back pack, it shouldn't take up too much space. And you'll have a real pillow. A camping/survival training trick I learned when foam pillows first came out. Give it a try! 🙂
I realized our video host went outside to watch the uncoupling in just his socks- the difference in safety and cleanliness and hospitality between different parts of the world really is mind blowing. If you did that in my current city there would be all kinds of unsanitary and plainly dangerous things all over the ground at a public train station. 🤦🏻♂️Thanks for another great adventure!!
I laughed when he said there wouldn't be anyone around to see it happen... I've ridden the nobi-nobi at least a dozen times now and there's ALWAYS a bunch of people watching the uncoupling of the two train sections at Okayama station (also the coupling up of the Tokyo-bound train that happens at night at Okayama station too). The event is almost a tourist attraction in itself.
@@alnabulsi313 I've done it myself, more than once... Actually getting a clear view of what's going on is problematic given the usual crowd of ketai-wielding observers clustered around the action. Pro tip -- go up the steps next to where it's all going on and observe/film it from there over everyone's heads. It's actually quite like an art performance, done precisely the same way every time like a ballet, to ensure the safety of the workers carrying it out and also that all of the steps are done correctly.

As interesting as I find this, it looks like a mode of travel for the young. I don’t think my old bones would do well without a mattress and pillow, or a comfortable seat.

Your travels are inspiring. You do things like I would. Testing and tasting the local things. One thing I noticed is that your vending machine foods look so much more appetizing and tasty than the things available in the US. i would rather lay flat as long as my height on soft surface like tatami mat, than on a reclining seat that does not recline all the way.

Many parts of even central Tokyo are very attractive. And the suburbs contain LOTS of greenery. I know, I have lived there for decades.

Я как-то из Челябинска в Ростов ехал. Так мы там через три дня чуть ли не братьями все стали.
Где курить, где бухать в этом поезде? Жрать только в вагоне- ресторане это вообще беспредел

Your travels are inspiring. You do things like I would. Testing and tasting the local things. One thing I noticed is that your vending machine foods look so much more appetizing and tasty than the things available in the US. I won't touch anything but chips and cookies and pop after so many bad experiences. I will look forward to checking them out, there.
